For all the sites like this one that help people like me use weight, I still think there's a market for WW. I was on it many years ago and it made things simple and it worked. It is more work to count calories than it was to use their tools, although it's getting easier with better databases and better apps. I don't know…

I log everything. Plenty of McDonald's, Taco Bell, Wendy's in mine, if that counts as junk food. When it comes to meals, fast food is some of the easiest stuff for me to diet on since it's clearly marker with calorie content and much of it is inexpensive and fast. Not great nutrition wise but with small modifications like…

OKAY!!!

Both of those are what I do too. I always prefer weight whenever I can, rather than volume. A lot of the stuff stays in the measuring cups otherwise...

1 lb/week is a good rate of weight loss, IMO. 1500 is on the low end for someone your weight, especially if you exercise. Then again, it might not be a correct count, as you say. It could also be the timing of the meals. Try to find some snacks to tide you over. I recognize the "have to buy a hotdog because it's the only…

It does seem fairly useless, doesn't it? I don't really understand the point of it, or of the wording.

If you input the calories and workouts slavishly and exactly, I've found it's fairly accurate. By that I mean, enter every chewing gum you have, every half slice of cheese and teaspoon of peanut butter you grab when you make a sandwich for your kid, etc. Literally everything. When I've done that, I've lost very close to…

Of course it's too little. I'm sure you've figured that out yourself. That said, if you are otherwise healthy and can stand being hungry all the time it's probably OK. You'll likely start losing hair, have very little energy and suffer dizzy spells etc, but you probably won't die. Probably.

I felt the same when I started going to the gym. I soon found out that nobody really cares about you but you though, haha. That's good AND bad. As others have said, most gyms have free or very inexpensive introduction sessions, take advantage of that. I go to the YMCA and they use a computerized system for exercise…

Well I bought a tub now, I'll blame you if it doesn't work. ;)

So which kind of whey protein are you using? I've read so many reviews and opinions that at this point I just want to pick one and go with it. Might as well pick yours.

I think it was your statement in one of the first posts that whey protein "revs up your metabolism and there is research that backs that up" that got people a bit peeved. Glad you are on your way (whey? :p) to your goal weight and feeling good. MFP has been a great tool for me.

Odd statement. You were the one that started the huge argument by saying everyone that didn't agree with you were wrong. It sounds to me, as many others have said, that the whey protein reduces your hunger/need to eat, which causes you to have a net calorie deficit. That is great (fiber does the same for me). That doesn't…

"I will flat out tell ya that I ingested in total calories much more than BMR plus activity in losing 50#. " Congratulations, you just invented a new law of physics. ;)
