I am just going to agree with kshama2001, you need to see a podiatrist. You said you have tried different shoes so I am sure you tried going up a size. I know running shoes for those who run need to go up a half a size.

Find a master swimming class. It will improve your swimming by leaps and bounds. The downside is they usually start very early in the morning. Swimming is one of the best exercises you can do. It works out all muscles and helps with aerobic capacity. Its calorie burn is exactly what you put in. If you are swimming at a…

If you can I would hire a trainer at the gym for a session or two to set you up with a workout. Most importantly they can show you proper form so you do not injure yourself. Just be very specific of what you what to achieve and what you want to avoid. It will be money well spent. You can do both cardio and strength in the…

I did not mean it to be controversial and it should not be debatable. Calorie burn is calorie burn no matter what way you get to it. I thought it might be helpful for people to check their calorie burn to see if it is close to accurate. It only helps us to know. Overestimating calorie burn is common and its usually why…

I am not sure of the distinction between gross and net, so I will look that up. Yes, as we get fitter the calorie burn goes down, so challenging oneself more will bring it back up if one chooses. Running is the granddaddy of calorie burn. I wish I enjoyed it. I used to force myself to run for a long time. I even had a…

Good luck with educating anyone about gym etiquette. There are some real knuckleheads - men and women out there that are so clueless they will never learn or respect any rules, written or unwritten. I have gone to gyms most of my adult life and I could write a book on idiot gym goers. Common sense dictates you do not step…

Post menopause is a tough time for most of us to lose weight. Everything slows down. Add in any medication you might be on and that can slow things down as well. The weight will come off, just slower. A couple of things - 1000 calories is not enough to sustain. Depending on the beer you are probably blowing a lot of…

Are you on any medication? I am 61 and I gained some weight due to medication I was taking that also made it extremely hard to lose it. I have always been fit and active. I eat a very healthy diet. last year the same thing happened to me. 1.75 lbs in 4 weeks. I was so discouraged.

The six pack will come with diet more than exercise. But exercise, especially weight/resistance training will get you defined. Diet is 90% of the equation so that is where your dedication must be and it sounds like you are doing well. A six pack is more than just abs but your entire core which arguably the most important…

I LOVE my Peloton. I really cannot say enough about it. It has been one of the best purchases ever. We bought ours during COVID when our gym closed. I wish they had a trade in opportunity so I could get the newer version where the screen turns. I inquired and they said that might be an option in the future. But OP you know…

Chances you will gain weight from muscles you are building is extremely minimal. What will happen is that those muscles will help your metabolism. Women simply do not put on a lot of muscle unless it is worked at with dedication and purpose and time, even then its hard to maintain. The above poster is right - it is all…

Plateaus are the most frustrating part of a weight loss journey. Weight loss is not linear as we know. We have ups and downs and then we have the dreaded plateau. There are a few things you can do that might work for you. 1. Try eating a bit more. You body may be reacting to your calorie intake and your body is trying like…

I have used trainers quite a bit through my gym history. The best use of them was showing me knew exercises that I could pull from. I already had the motivation, I just needed new stuff to do. They did push me though and that was good, however I am the type of person if you push me too much I will just quit. Pushing myself…

I agree as well with hiring a trainer. You only need a session or two. Explain to them your goals. They can map out a routine for you while showing you proper form. Proper form is the most important thing to know. It is easy to hurt yourself if you do not know how to do an exercise correctly and that can be a very simple…

Mine wont sync either. My Fitbit is an older one - I think I got it in 2018. I looked up all the ways they said to reset it and it just wouldn't do it. I was planning on getting an iWatch so that is what I did. I hope you have better luck. I wish I had some tips for you.

Did you tattoos switch arms too?

I know exactly what I have to do. I know what foods to eat and how much to exercise. I have learned a lot about myself over the years. One of them is I am not 'moderation girl'. I have been trying to maintain my lifestyle and eat less and exercise more. That thinking got me into the trouble I am in now! Haha! The truth is…

I eat very healthy foods. No fast food, prepackaged foods, very low sugar consumption, etc... I just eat too much! Its really about wrapping my brain around what I want more, to eat and drink and be social, or to use my willpower to say no, or to not drink (wine) when going out (yeah right). Last night my husband and I…

Get rid of the timetable. It will set you up for failure. Go for 2 lbs a week and do not get discouraged if its only a pound. Some weeks you may lose 3. Eat right, exercise and burn more than you take in. Be grateful for any loss. You will get there when you get there. Good luck!
