You are absolutely right. A woman I went to college with was hospitalized because of her eating disorder. Twenty years later she is still super lean, but strong - I see her occasionally at the gym, which is why I know. People get impatient because they want to lose weight, but there are so many health-related reasons for…

I was thinking the same thing. With my occasional hangry feelings at my current deficit... and admitedly I can get hangry while on maintenance... I’d turn into a crazy person on 800 a day. That or I’d turn into a wraith. Or an axe murderer.

Rapid Body Remodeling. Per Merriam-Webster Remodel: to cause (living tissue) to undergo structural reorganization, alteration, or renewal. I haven’t had coffee yet, but that definition suggests that voodoo treat could turn me into a unicorn. Or a narwhal? Something beautiful with a horn. Or at least make me young again. I…

I was sick all last week. My last weekend was spent... sleeping or taking doses of cold/flu meds. And I didn’t go to the gym for 8 days. I am so sorry the sick has found you - I got mine at work and my boss called it the mini-plague. 😞 Take the horrid days or weeks when they come, brush yourself off and forge on ahead as…

Can you give examples?

Do you love your dogs more than I love my cats? Is it weird that I shared my perogy supper with my cats?

Could you just send pie instead?

Thank-you. This is a great thread.

I looked up Kelsey, the woman in those photographs - she is still on IG, albeit on a different account now. In one of her posts she admits that upon reaching her original goal weight, the MIDDLE PHOTO, she was BELOW the healthy weight range for her size. Just an fyi. And, she has now gained even more muscle and is at her…

I saw this thread for the first time today, and my eyes rolled around in my head because I thought I’d be reading about girls getting too bulky. Phew! Now that I see the posts, I’m so glad this thread got bumped. One of these days I will post some pictures, but I’m still trying to get back into it - the last year and a bit…

Aww, Likeafox, I want to tell you to just go for it! You belong in the free weights section as much as anyone else. We all pay a membership! That being said, I still am intimidated by the squat racks. So now I try to do my leg days first thing in the morning - like at 6:30 am because then I don’t have to elbow my way to…

Hmmm. So much to say. I spend about five hours a week lifting at the gym. Upper/lower split, four days a week. Is that hours and hour and hours? That is so little in my mind for the health benefits I get. I make a little progress (not as much as I’d like but I am busy and this is all I can currently squeeze into my…

Yes and yes. Besides gaining the muscle and “toned look”🙄, i sleep better since I started lifting, my skin is clearer, and the chronic lower back pain I had is gone. And my posture is better: I gained half an inch of height, according to one of my medical exams - in my forties! Most importantly, the extra muscle in my leg…

Wow. THIS IS SO TRUE. I’d never thought of it that way.

It needed saying. Thank -you.

I can relate to everything on the list, but for me, my biggest mistake has always been treating my goal weight as a finish line. Exercise. Cut down on calories. Get to that wight range and THEN go back to old habits and regain it all plus more. I want this to be a lifestyle and I want to throw away the yo-yo. I can accept…

I love the squiggles of a weight loss progress chart. Congratulations!!
-
Yup. This happens. Some “snake oil” fitness “guru” who is self-employed but calls their scheme a weight-loss academy and then posts others’s photos while taking credit for the weight loss. I may be exaggerating a little. But I’ve seen it and I follow people on IG whose photos have been used without their permission.

Would definitely try unless they are selling at ridiculous boutique prices.

By that arguement: I’ve worked with pigs and I hate them. Pot-bellied pigs as pets? Gross. But I LOVE bacon and porkchops. And in answer to OP, I probably would. I eat mussels and oysters and have eaten escargot, all of which are (sort of) similar - and gross if I think about them too long. Yummy.

This article angered me (as someone who works really hard to stay fit) and, like tinak33, I did not finish. I know several people now who are very overweight - and they have gotten jobs they should not have. They are too fat/out of shape to fulfill the job requirements. All of them have gotten injured on the job, and one…

You said you’re bulking, so I am making an assumption that you’re quite active. How active are you? When I was lifting 5-6 times per week AND cycling or walking work/the gym I was hungry all the time -and I was eating for recomp/maintenance. Some of my cardio had to go because I felt I couldn’t eat enough. Cutting back on…

This is the biggest motivator for me - to not regain the weight. We live in a two-storey house and five years ago the husband and I were wondering if we’d have to sell and move to a bungalow - because of my knee! I’ve lost about twenty pounds since then and more or less kept it off. The twenty pounds (and my current…

When I get impatient, my husband reminds me how long it look for me to put on the weight. For me, (I am on my spring cycle of losing the 10ish pounds I put on since last summer) what took me months to gain won’t disappear in a few weeks - not in a way that is healthy anyway. Many people gain their extra weight over years -…

How do you feel about the exercise part? Instead of focusing on the food, could you try getting back on that wagon? I don’t want to preach about the mood lifting affect of exercise, but I find that when I get back into the exercise part, the food part follows because I want to support and not undo the fitness portion of…

I have a protein shake right before bed. 150 calories. Most days I have room for it. If I don’t, I give myself half a scoop, and don’t worry about the extra 75 calories.

I’ve always dealt with the hip/waist problem with pants, which is why I will never go back to high waisted pants. I found a mom and pop shop that just sells jeans (it’s a jeans warehouse) and they alter while you wait. They make two little darts in the back of my jeans between belt loops and that’s that. No more gape.

I hate women’s clothing sizes because I wear different sizes! I am 5’8” and currently 173 pounds - goal is to maintain between 165 and 170... maybe a little lower if it’s sustainable. I’ve also been weightlifting for several years, so despite the fluff I have a decent muscle base. I am a 9-10, but sometimes a size up…

I go anyway. When it gets really cold I put on snow pants (if I’m walking to the gym) and all my cold weather wear and do it despite the cold. If you don’t want to go, really any excuse will do. What are your goals? Work for them.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had an early miscarriage too - just because it was early doesn’t make it any less painful. Be gentle with yourself. You already know, as you’ve said, that the best thing to do is focus on your health - you just might need a little more time. Hugs to you
