I take 600mg of seroquel at night for sleep. I have gained 70 lbs since I started it. The doc warned me of the weight gain side effect, but I have extreme insomnia and seroquel was the only thing that worked. On seroquel, I crave things that I never used to crave. No matter how much I eat, I am always hungry. I've tried so…

You can easily lose weight if you follow the NS plan. I did it years ago and lost weight pretty easily. But you have to stick to the program and follow the NS maintenance plan so you can learn how to eat non-NS food.

I remember that this was one of the things Oprah did when she was losing weight. I like to get all my meals in by 6 or 6:30. I hate going to bed full and am miserable if I have to eat a late dinner.

What does the flag button even mean? Just curious.

Seriously with the haters! I often have a Slim Fast shake for lunch with a little added protein and a banana mixed in. Fills me right up and I love the taste.

I totally disagree with the above. Structure and professional advice on food choices, behavior modification, and fitness can be well worth the money. I'm in a 12-week program that includes weekly meetings with a dietician, exercise physiologist, and therapist and it has really opened my eyes. It's a very comprehensive…

I'm on 600 milligrams at night as a sleep aid. I was skinny when I started taking it for sleep. My psychiatrist tried me on every known sleep medication there was to no avail. I would literally not fall asleep. My insomnia is off the charts. So when he gave me the seroquel, we had a long talk about the weight gain…

Once a week at my dietician's office. I may jump on the scale at home before that if I feel bloated or like I may have put on weight. But I only log it once a week.

Love that response!! Why do people always question the 1200 calories choice? Makes no sense to me at all. Way to stand up for yourself! It works for me too.
-
Two pounds a week is totally doable. I have about 65lbs to lose and am starting with 1200 calories a day, 2 pounds a week. It works for me and it seems like it works for many others on here as well. Not sure why so many people always post that it's too much to lose a week. I go by what my doc and dietician say and 2 pounds…

I don't understand why the bigger girl has to be shown in a tent of a bathing suit. She looks to me like the perfect sized woman.

I actually thought that a workout wasn't really doing anything for you if you didn't get your heart rate up and sweat. I thought it meant you were in calorie burning mode. So if I do yoga or barre classes and don't get my heart rate up and break a sweat, it's still beneficial in terms of weight lifting loss?

I have a fat belly now at 65 pounds overweight. When I was younger and skinny, I had a fat belly then, too. Everything else was skinny, but I had a belly that made me look preggers. For me, it's genetic. Every single female in my family as far back as I can go has had a fat belly. My mom is underweight right now, and has a…

Omigod, if the dietician said to eat out 5 times a week, I'd dump her in a second!!! I never, ever posted that!!!! What a quack that would be. Quite the opposit, actually, in terms of my daughter, but that's not for this discussion board. I've been eating out often since I was a kid. My mom was also not into cooking, so we…

I have a tough time with this, too. I don't drink, so that saves me any booze calories, but we always get invited to eat out on the weekends for lunch, dinner, or brunch... It is tough. I try to save up some calories for those weekend meals and make the best choices, but I don't always succeed on the weekends. I'm just…

Uughhhhh, that's exactly how I am. I know how you feel.

Thanks for posting. I'm gonna leave my daughter's dietary needs up to the specialists as they know what they're talking about and have been really helpful. As for parenting advice, umm, thanks...I guess. For me, I was just asking how people who dine out often manage to still lose weight. I never go to chain restaurants…

Wow, that last paragraph is so frickin rude. Thanks for the support. I was just reaching out for some help. Real classy.

I have to stick up for myself here...I don't think going out to eat often is bad parenting or teaching my kid anything other than we get to go out to eat often. It's a part of our social life that's important to us. And it was the same for me when I was a kid. Some people eat at home, some don't. Believe me, if I thought…

The pediatrician sent us to a dietician who we sat with for 2 hours to come up with an eating plan for my daughter. But my daughter hates my cooking. I'm not awful at cooking, but not really good either. Plus, she only wants to eat fruit and veggies. No dairy, no protein, no bread, no cereal ... it's rough trying to feed…

My daughter is 10 and is an extremely picky eater. No matter what I cook for her, which is usually something she has picked, she takes 2 bites then hates it and asks for something else. When we go out, she doesn't do that, so we started eating out 5x a week, which lead to a nice 15lb gain for me since Christmas. so for the…

I always choose the healthy options and stick to protein and veggies. But too often I find that the portion sizes just look huge or the veggies are glistening from something that I didn't ask for. I also find myself taking bites of my daughter's food, which typically has more fat/carbs so she can gain some weight per her…

I've only been at this for 2 weeks so I'm still pretty militant about logging and weighing everything I eat. I'm really hoping to stick with it for the long haul. It makes such a difference.

Okay, this changes things a little. If you feel like you're heading down that slippery slope, reach out to someone and remind yourself of everything you've learned in recovery. Your weight appears to be perfect right now based on your height. Do you realize that, honestly, or do you feel past demons creeping back in? I…

I would find out if there is a specific reason he has you on a VLCD. Do you suffer from any co-morbitities that would necessitate a rapid loss? Prior to my gastric band I was put on the same diet for a quick loss before surgery. Docs do it all the time. Don't dump your doc just because others say so without all the…

I don't agree that nobody gets fat from eating 5000 calories of veggies. 5000 calories is too much no matter what it is (am I missing something or did I read that wrong?). And 35 hours to burn a pound ... Don't think so.

I just read an article in the Wall Street Journal talking about how inaccurate the activity trackers are. Anywhere from 10-20 percent inaccurate. When shopping for one, just keep this quote from WSJ in mind: "Activity trackers are best at detecting brisk walking, jogging or running—activities that produce strong arm…

You do realize that Heart rate monitors can be off by as much as 20 percent?

When I started seroquel for sleep, I was at a perfect weight. I have gained 70lbs since. It's usually used for bipolar or anxiety, but as a severe insomniac I use it for sleep. If the doc puts you on this, think twice. It is well documented for causing massive weight gain. Meaning, it can change your metabolism so that no…

I'm 5'10" and would like to be 140. Less, if possible.
