  • Cat conspiracy theorists
  • Yeah the cruise ship thing is what got me started on that train of thought.
  • Chinese billionaire Jack Ma is donating a million face masks and 500,000 coronavirus test kits to the US. I'm grateful for the support and hope that our government can work with people like him to tap into international sources for desperately needed medical supplies.…
  • I just talked with a friend who was on a river cruise in Europe when the border closure was announced. Her ship had been hanging off the coast of Italy for a few days while they decided how to proceed. Since it wasn't clear if US citizens would be blocked from reentering and her ship had no cases of coronavirus she managed…
  • If you get pregnant, consult with your doctor about your calorie and nutrition needs. You will need to eat considerably more than 1200 calories to avoid risk to you and your baby.
  • I did of course and started coughing when I exhaled because allergies are hell :D
  • Assuming this bit of scaremongering is making the rounds on Facebook. :( My niece just posted a breathless notice from "Member of Stanford Board" that it's too late once you start showing symptoms, your lungs are already 50% filled with fibroids! Japanese doctors recommend you check yourself daily by seeing if you can hold…
  • 😂😂😂
  • Yeah, that's why I clicked on it. I thought "calming breaths shown to reduce cortisol" or something. I'm all in favor of calming breaths.

  • Yes, he's actually on facebook. I'm really glad I got him on board to stay in touch with the grands (and great-grands 😊).
  • San Francisco school district just closed schools for three weeks. And standing in line at Safeway (don't judge, I'm legit out of milk. I stocked up on TP last week), I saw this gem.
  • People don't get quarentined for 2 weeks for the flu. Many people don't have the option for grocery delivery. And consider a multi-person household where people are getting the virus like dominos - every new case extends the quarentine by a certain number of days. Of course people are rushing to stock up.
  • They just cancelled my first cycling event at the end of March (Livermore CA)😔 The one at the end of April in Chico is still on but who knows for how long. Entry fees for both rides mostly go to the community, so I won't take advantage of refunds if offered. I'm hoping these kinds of precautions will slow the spread and…
  • I find it interesting that every way of eating comes with a complicated hierarchy of virtue signaling. The diets* seem to all have versions with labels reflecting a moral component to how one eats, based on often self-defined criteria. "dirty", "clean", "strict", "lazy", "pure", "bad", "good". Saying "My definition of keto…
  • Just saw Governor Newsom is banning gatherings of more than 250 people. My daughter and son in law live in San Francisco with my two grandkids. She texted last night they won't be visiting until things settle down because my husband and I are in a higher risk group (we'll be 70 this year). They're pulling the kids out of…
  • Yikes! It's probably already on some click bait "Stay safe with these must-have products!!" list. :o
  • Yeah, as far as I know they mostly used my AB neg blood for babies where they want to match exactly. I lack some antibody that makes my blood a good match for preemies. When I was younger I used to check in with the blood center when a call went out for extra blood donations but i was always told (politely) not to bother :)
  • I think my husband may have had it as well, coughed his head off for weeks but no fever (that he admitted to). Possibly a friend as well, diagnosed with a lung infection after coughing for a couple of weeks. Both around the beginning of Feb. Who knows, it could have been another virus but such very similar symptoms. It's…
  • So many mixed messages out there :( In my news feed just this morning "Your phone is a cesspool of germs! Here's how to clean it" https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/health/a31224352/how-clean-phone-guide/ And "You probably don't need to clean your phone (but here's how to do it if you insist)"…
  • Same here. It was in Missouri.
  • Interesting perspective - just read an article where some health professionals are suggesting healthy people in communities where there are multiple coronavirus cases should wear a mask in public. Not to protect themselves but because they're contagious before showing symptoms. A moot point if masks aren't available, but…
  • Yes, this. Wash your hands, limit outside contact as much as possible, self-isolate if possibility of contamination is present, common sense stuff repeated over and over until hopefully it becomes second nature. I believe it's right and necessary to explore what-if scenarios and have a plan. Yes it can be…
  • I think the best we can hope for is self isolation helping to create a slow roll of cases so the health care infrastructure has a chance to stay on top of the epidemic .
  • Yeah the guidelines can be kind of arbitrary. My dad got malaria in Korea during WWII and they went back and forth on his eligibility every few years until he aged out.
  • Thanks for this. I've lost 2 siblings now to addiction. There's no comparison.
  • Interesting 😊 I'm AB neg and I got a call every 2 months. Apparently my blood is good for preemies.
  • Do you know how many calories you're eating? It's possible you're not eating enough, or aren't eating foods that are satiating to you. Maybe experiment with your diet to see if there are other foods that fit your macros that you find more satisfying. Wishing you best of luck :)

  • So you're citing a MyFitnessPal blog as a credible source :D :D :D Eta Also most misleading title ever for a vegetarian propaganda thread.
