I think CO has a lot to do with the prediction as well. Not only do you have to hit the same calorie total consistently but you have to also hit the same number of calories out, which is a lot harder to figure when you consider NEAT as well as intentional exercise. I never close mine.

Good start! How much weight do you have to lose? Probably some of that 5 lbs will be water weight, and some fat, but if you continue to lose at around 2 lbs a week and don't have a lot to lose you're probably undereating and may continue to feel fatigued unless your rate of loss slows down. Best of luck!

You say you're not hungry sometimes and eat much less. Do you weigh and measure your food and drinks and log your meals so you know how many calories you're eating? The symptoms you describe, especially legs feeling heavy and fatigued could be related to just not eating enough. How much weight have you lost since you…

It sounds like a ground strap used in electronics production. It's intended to divert static buildup in people working with sensitive electronic components so they don't "zap" the parts (discharge static electricity through them and fry the circuits). Anyone working with these parts wears the straps all day every day. I…

I don't either, but I'm seeing a growing perception among the general population to label anything that mentions weight reduction, even in the context of improving health as opposed to body aesthetics, as fat-shaming.

It's a fairly common belief. My mom had COPD and her doctor advised her not to drink carbonated beverages. She belonged to a group for a while, and most of the other members had also been told the same thing. Here's an article from Livestrong, for instance.…

I would start by making sure you're doing what your doctor recommends as far as meds and lifestyle. If you are overweight, getting back into a healthy range will most likely give you the biggest bang for your buck in your efforts to manage the diabetes. If a vegan diet suits you, then I don't see any harm in following the…

Yes, you are correct :) Some people find that MFP overestimates calorie burn and eat back only a portion, but you need to fuel your activities.
-
No, that's not how MFP works. Your goal is based on your activity level - she's set at sedentary, and needs to eat back at least a portion of her exercise calories, or she will drop below the recommended minimum. Her sedentary setting only takes into account the minimum calories required for minimum NEAT, not anything…
-
I wouldn't. If your total step count for the day is under around 3000, the calorie goal MFP set for you includes that activity already. You would log anything you do at the gym of course, and any intentional exercise outside of that. Can you post your total daily step count? Thanks! eta - You would eat back at least a…

I dunno - I think I read somewhere that Kim Kardashian sleeps in her makeup when she's doing a multi-day shoot.

Geez, 1950 says hello :( This is how it was when I was growing up - thought we were past that by now. So sad.
-
Adding a fitness tracker to the mix can definately up the confusion factor :) Here's how I manage my fitbit steps. I've set my stats in MFP to whatever the "inactive" setting is called. I then let the fitbit track steps in MFP and add calories. As long as the activity I'm doing involves steps, I don't make any adjustments.…

Necro thread Are you tracking your calories by weighing and measuring your food? It's true that "diet and exercise" don't work for everyone, if the "diet" part involves eating more calories than you burn. Often, when starting a supplement of some sort people experience a honeymoon period where they're unconsciously eating…

That depends. How often do you eat the seeds? See the above comments if you don't usually eat them. How much water do you usually drink? If you are slightly dehydrated, introducing additional fiber can cause digestive issues. If you usually eat the seeds, do you also usually drink water with them? If you usually drink…

Bump, referenced in another thread :)

Have you taken any diet breaks along the way (periods of time where you maintain whatever weight you are at by eating maintenance calories)? You may be ready for a diet break - check out this thread (it's long but the actual info is in the first page or two). It has nothing to do with "kickstarting" your metabolism,…

I lost 50 pounds (and am in maintenance over a year) drinking diet soda most days.
-
Like some other posters, I've been drinking diet sodas since the '60s. I've lost weight and gained weight while drinking them and haven't seen any correlation with any health or weight issues. I drink a can of diet coke most days because it's a calorie-free treat and sometimes acts as a very mild appetite suppressant when…

Just wanted to extend an extra "hug" :) It's infuriating when ignorant people insist that we can be "cured" simply by following a particular diet or exercising or standing on our heads while juggling knives. It implies that we are at fault for our illness and simply don't want to put in the effort to be well. For my own…

Sure, fat helps with satiety for many people. Why not try tweaking your macros for a few weeks to add in more healthy fats and see if that helps with snacking in the longer term - sounds like you've got excellent observational skills and good sense of what works for you. Best of luck :)

Reaching out to the company couldn't hurt, at least if you're in the US. The FDA sets maximum allowance of errors in labeling, and this one is glaringely outside the acceptable limit. There are fines for being out of compliance - if they choose to accept the fine instead of recalling this lot, you can bet they'll correct…

Well, to be fair, things like berries and leafy greens are fruits and vegetables, and no mention was made of the serving size. You could eat a small portion of a few different berry types on a bed of mixed greens with some celery, call it 5 fruits and veg and stay low in carbs. That's a far cry from 5 actual servings, but…

Wow, that's a breath-taking misprint! I searched the label closely to try to find something that would explain the discrepancy, but nope, they're completely off the rails. Good catch, that could really mess with a person's calorie goals :(
-
I may be misinterpreting what you're saying here, but I'm wondering if you consider eating in a restricted window less healthy than eating without regard to time? Are you planning on eating different foods until you lose the 20 pounds, then returning to what you were eating before? Do you have a plan to manage your…

Yikes, missed that! Thanks for pointing it out.

This woman is looking for someone to take care of her (I'm assuming she doesn't have a partner?), and by making incremental requests that escalate from smaller favors to long-term committments she's slowly sucking you into that role. The longer this goes on the harder it will be to back out. You'll start feeling like…

I <3 this thread :) So just to add to the fun, I snapped this while I was waiting in line at Safeway a while ago. Notice that in the upper right hand corner, in the middle of all the scammy weight loss hoopla is an article that promises to help you save money by avoiding scams...

Just my own experience :) When I was first diagnosed with celiac disease, I felt the same way. My diet was heavy on packaged food and while I did eat whole foods, I wasn't particularly fond of them unless they were seasoned and/or sauced. I felt like I was doomed to an unsatisfying, boring diet for eternity, so depressing.…

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/d-brief/2019/06/19/gut-microbiome-bacteria-food-diet-health/#.XQq4zFNlAwA Just ran across this article covering a study on how what we eat affects our gut microbiome (the actual study is linked in the article). Conclusion - what we eat definately affects our microbiome, but since it varies…
