do the best you can...you won't be able to be perfect but all menus have better choices. if you are in a hotel with breakfast, they almost always have oatmeal, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Grab an apple from the fruit bowl...or go the grocery store where you are travelling and load up on healthy snacks. But do enjoy…

Hi! I tend to come and go from MFP....but am back at it. It is so helpful! I am also a crazy cat lady and an outdoor enthusiast. I do go to the gym...I am lucky to have a husband who loves it and we go together. I don't love the sauna, but you can find me in Pilates, the pool and occasionally the hot tub.

Welcome to MFP my fat friend! I carry my weight the same as you...pictures (headshots) lie, as do mirrors (if they are mounted on the wall). I'm happy you found your way here and have seen such great success to get your started on your new lifestyle! Set small goals for motivation, your body will feel better at even 5%…

SF Hot cocoa...yum! My favorite go to meal is a turkey burger topped with blue cheese and tons of mushrooms! yum!

That's how I gained my weight too...just a few pounds a year and then you turn 40 and Wow, that's a lot of extra weight! Use MFP for what it is set up for....track your food, eat at the recommended calories. Don't go too low or you will set yourself up to fail! Good luck, I look forward to following your journey!
-
That seems like a realistic goal! That's only 6 lbs a month right? Good luck, I would love to lose that much but I tend to be a super slow loser! Although I have lost 4 since 1/1...

It is hard, and boring sometimes, and a struggle often. If it wasn't we wouldn't all be here! Congratulations for all of your successes, you've earned them! I had a boss that use to say "embrace the suck" for when things suck...figure out how to deal with it. I tie that in to eating healthy by thinking "embrace the…

I'm Rene' and am 52 and pretty darn fabulous! I could stand to lose some pounds but that doesn't stop me from bringing on the fab! Welcome to MFP! I enjoy friends who are in my age range...feel free to add me!

I just buy the lean or whatever is on sale...make them into patties....season with salt, pepper, garlic (or Johnny's seasoning) then put 1/2 oz of blue cheese on the patty at the end and smother with sautéed mushrooms...it is so yummy!
-
Tracking what you eat will help a ton too! I thought I blew my whole day because of a piece of fried chicken...when I logged it, I discovered that it wasn't that bad and I can totally have a good day even with that chicken! (Which was delicious and totally worth it!)

it's so not all its cracked up to be. not the same at all. BUT you can enjoy mashed cauliflower if you are not thinking it's going to taste like potato!
-
Tacos are brilliant for this....I just make chicken taco meat, or ground turkey and black beans, have all of the fixings out and people can make what they want (tortilla, hard shells, etc). This leaves me the perfect opportunity to have a salad. I also think those "basic" meals...meats, carb, veggies, work great. I would…

52, and have lost weight successfully using MFP. I find that it is even more important to accurately track and log your food. I use my food scale pretty faithfully. I used to be able to be more casual about it...I could just track "banana medium", taking the couple of seconds to weight that banana is important. When your…

I just did my first attempt at cauliflower rice....It was most excellent smothered in gravy (a few carbs in the gravy) and would definitely curb those cravings for me (mashed potato cravings). Now, the cookie cravings are a different story, peanut butter might do it...I like celery and peanut butter. I did have a banana…

I would also say focus on the food part first. Be honest and diligent about tracking what you eat. You can get a good food scale cheaply on amazon which is a good start. Drink lots of water, and try new things. Also, find those things that you love and are low calorie meal options...your new comfort food! For me, that's a…

Friend me! I'm always looking for new friends...especially those around my age. We tend to have similar challenges. I would like to lose 20 lbs, would love to lose 40. 20 though would put me at my all time adult low weight. 3 down so far since Jan 1. Yay!

Walk it off....I find that if I'm super sore, walking a bit helps ease it. The first couple of steps hurt a bit but then it gets easier. Have you heard the quote "pain is weakness leaving the body"? Makes me smile...

It sounds like she needs you as a friend. People in those types of marriages tend to lose all of their friends, which often the spouse is hoping to do. (Isolation is a form of control). I would change your expectations of her as friend and stick by her with just the occasional coffee or lunch date. She needs an outlet that…

there are tons of free options out there. I've had both a treadmill and wii...they are both good options depending on what you will use more. My treadmill hasn't been used in a long time because we love the gym and walks in the park. My kid took the wii to college...I thought it was a fun way to exercise and it tracks your…

It's a big, scary world out there!

Nice job! It's so great to have other success measurements!

If I'm home on a day and feel "snacky" I will cut up fruit and veggies and stick them on a bowl on the table. It helps when you can quickly grab something healthy. It's also a mental trigger that if you don't want to eat any of that, you are really not hungry.
-
I try and save a few calories for an evening treat....hot cocoa, snap peas, apples, almonds. it helps...
-
I always know that vacation will do that to me...heat and flights are both bloat inducers! I'm envious of your summer weather! winter here...snow and rain!
-
I dropped sugar Jan 1, My headache wasn't too bad and went away after a couple of days. Maybe because I was still eating fruit? No headache now though!
-
Just remember you had a big meal...you didn't ruin it all. You can start fresh tomorrow with tracking, drinking lots of water and getting back on track. Congratulations on getting on the presidents list!
-
So awesome! But where's your "Thin me" picture? We want the after, not just the before!!!

Hmmmm, want to join, love to hike but am a bit of a fair weather hiker! January and Febuary will be my big challenging months to get them in but I'm in. The places I like to hike (Mount Rainier) are buried in the snow currently but I know there are others around!

I try and make enough for at least 2 meals at a time too. Chicken and veggies is always a staple. One of my favorite and most delicious meals is a turkey burger (just the patty) with one oz of blue cheese on it and a TON of sautéed mushrooms. It is delicious! Stuffed peppers are always good....lasagna stuffed peppers,…

I think if you are going to a class that you like and keep going to....keep at it. Now you just need to add some yoga or pilates to balance it all out! I love them both but feel like Pilates gives me the stretching benefit of yoga plus an awesome core workout! MFP definitely overestimates calories burned while excercising.
