I am 165# and race bikes. I follow Matt Fitzgerald's thoughts from the book "Racing Weight", so I target a body composition range more than weight. I am still a little heavy for what I would call "peak shape" as my body fat is a little higher than I want it right now. That being said, my BSM isn't super high, so I target a…

Competitive cyclist here. If I did not eat back my exercise calories every day I would literally waste away. Not eating back your exercise calories is a horrible idea.

Truthfully, it never gets easier -- you just run faster. Like others have said, take your time ramping up both your distance and speed to decrease your probability of injury. Walk 500 m and run 500 m. Physical activity is the goal and you are accomplishing this just by getting out.

Individual weight does make a difference, i.e. it takes more calories to power 250 lbs. a mile vs. 125 lbs.

What jjpptt2 said. Take into account the calorie burn on the bike. More importantly, get a couple of pairs of bike shorts with a good chamois. Your taint will thank you.

Lemon juice, olive oil, and coarse sea salt. Mash them together with a fork and it is heaven in your mouth.

Roadie. Pounding out miles on Zwift right now. There are several members of our race team IRL on MFP. We use the platform to track calories and encourage each other in getting down to race weight before team camp the last weekend in February.

Try intervals. I know when my speed/fitness on the bike plateaus, intervals can help kick both in the butt. Always riding at the same speed is not a good plan for getting faster, which is what I read as your motivation.

You definitely want to get out and ride before the TT. If you pace a TT correctly, it is actually a ton of fun. If you go out too hard, it will be filled with pain, lots of pain. For that distance, don't measure your training rides by distance but focus instead on time. There are lots of free resources online that will…

I would say your mileage is good if you are planning on finishing, which is a great goal. I would +1 the above comment and say look at some different training plans that will meet your schedule and motivation. Set a time goal for your race and go out there and kill it. Good luck!

Remember that calories burned while walking are dependent on the distance covered, not on your intensity, which means you will burn the same amount of calories walking a mile if it takes you one hour or ten minutes to cover it. I used the iPhone as a pedometer for about a week and then decided it was inaccurate enough that…

+1. This is the right answer. You will be motivated to get out and do the activity you love.

I am in the camp that I think it is awesome that people are trying to improve themselves. I don't mind the extra traffic and wish people would stick around all year long. I would give up five more minutes in the gym every day for the rest of my life if that meant others can get healthy.

Can I +1 this issue? I would like MFB to sync with Garmin Connect. It would be so nice for my activities to auto update.
