  • Hi Misty - sad to say - but the only way I found to deal with it was cut sugar out for a period of time cold turkey. I stopped eating all processed sugar, all processed carbs - like pasta and bread - all soda, all juice. I did that for 6 weeks. I did that several years ago and have struggled with it off and on ( i really…
  • one thing i've learned is that protein has to be a part of a snack for me, or else i feel like i didn't eat anyhting - that's why you hear people do carrots and hummus - the protein in the beans helps you feel full; same for things like apples and peanut butter - cheese and strawberries do it too, and avocado is always…
  • I do the same thing - I cook 4 nights a week, with leftovers the other 3 nights. Also - thank you to all you 'old timers' who encouraged me to give the recipe maker thing another shot. 4 years ago IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!! Most of my recipes started on the internet, or else have simple ingredients. I just gave it a shot and…
  • no issue - that just doesn't work for me - i'm glad it works for you.
  • If you're not judging, you're making assumptions about whether what i'm doing is working or not. An assumption is pretty similar to a judgement. Anyone should be able to reach out on these forums for new ideas - that's what they're for. Looking for new ideas doesn't mean what I'm doing isn't working (i've actually already…
  • Thanks for the idea. I'll try it with some recipes this week and see if I could do that.
  • I'm not interested in your judgements. You can keep them for yourself. I'm sorry you are so unhappy that you feel your best option is to antagonize others.
  • I'm sorry you're finding yourself in this situation! One thing you might want to consider is how your current diet is effecting what you crave. How your current environment is effecting what you crave. sugar is my lifelong food craving. I love it. Used to eat a ton of it. I ate so much sugar, so frequently, that I didn't…
  • not making that implication at all BFDeal - what I'm stating is that I have found it really crazy making to try to keep track, unless I'm doing something like adding an orange or an egg that I ate. If I made a soup, or a casserole, the amount of measuring etc was way too cumbersome to me. If you're reading it as a…
  • thank you guys - these are some good ideas. I'm working on creating healthier versions of foods I already like cooking, so perhaps once i get a good routine going, i could measure a batch once and then input that info for myself. i also like the idea of looking for recipes with cals included - i don't think i've seen that…
  • kruggeri, i come here for the community, as well as the tracking of my exercise, which syncs with the fitness app i use. I find it useful and know not everyone counts calories. i was curious what those who don't count caloreis do instead to have a healthy diet. Why is that such a controversial question? I'm surprised by…
  • that's my point SuggaD. I've 'been there done that' with counting calories and for me, it's not a lifestyle choice I want - and I'm all about creating a lifestyle. I try to be mindful of eating reasonable quantities of reasonable foods - thought someone who has been doing that longer than me might have interesting tips of…
  • i'm wondering how people keep an awareness/manage what they eat if they do not count calories. There are ways to be healthful without counting each one - so i'm curious what others do.
  • correct - i do not plan to count each and every calorie - that's why my post says calorie management. I want to manage my calories. you can have an awareness without counting each and every one.
  • sigh - i just refuse to do that - i did it on here about 4 years ago and that just doesn't work for me. I don't measure when I'm cooking - and I'm not interested in starting. I'll add wine, or olive oil, or chicken broth (that I made) at the 'right' level based on sight.... When I was counting calories on her about 4 years…
  • I use oatmeal as a base, with different 'toppings' i use all kinds of different friuts - apple, raisins, cranberries, dried apricots; also - I used to love this little dish: quinoa cold - with a little apple cider vinegar, with a slice of avocado, arugula, and part of a boiled egg. the yummiest little breakfast salad.
  • i do leftovers, but also have a few meals that I make and freeze for days when there are no leftovers. one of my favorite freeze meals is turkey chili - i put it in the refrigerator at night, and the next day by lunch it is ready to eat:)
  • I'm trying it. Jury is out. I like the idea of it, but would like if it was more customizable. I will say it's getting me to work out daily, so that's good.

  • Totally agree. For me,pasta is a vehicle to enjoy sauce. I put sauce on many other things most of the time though. I actually really like tomato sauce over lightly steamed broccoli.
  • Great point! This is exactly what I was thinking when reading.... in the past, I set specific goals about weight loss.... which usually set me up to be disappointed. Now, instead of setting a weight target, I'm setting lifestyle targets, and monitoring not only weight, but measurements too. In an ideal world, I'd love to…
  • Hi Ladies - I'm new - thought this would be a great way for me to jump in What is your favorite thing about your appearance? My general shape - still mostly hourglass What is you greatest strength? my tenacity. What is your proudest moment from 2014? pushing through a very challenging and abusive situation What are you…
  • Calorie counting is not for me. We cook all our meals, so to have to painstakingly measure each and every ingredient and then input it to see cal count just is t going to happen. I do restrict certain foods. I cut way down on processed carbs, cut out dairy almost entirely, and also limit alcohol and sugar. But limiting…
  • I think this is a great idea- I'd love to find some folks similar to me: - 36 - CW 147.6 - Ideal weight 128 - Height 5'6 Anyone out there? I used to be very athletic- ran half marathons.... Then I had a bad injury, followed by a long illness so I'm coming back after about 4 years of inactivity.
