  • Oh it’s definitely about money. I do think if they’re going to make the argument that it’s safe to open indoor attractions and businesses, then they shouldn’t have tried to claim outdoor options still aren’t safe. Those should have been opened if not first at least in addition to. They’ve lost a great deal of credibility.
  • The gyms and even the casinos in my state can open up, but the outdoor parks, playgrounds, and pools cannot. This is very confising to me.
  • I took a cheat day on Mother’s Day. I have no idea how many calories I ate, because I wasn’t tracking. I didn’t even go back and track a guestimation later. I can tell you I probably ate more than I burned because I spent the day reading and eating and then went to bed feeling lethargic and uncomfortably full. But dang it,…
  • I’ll probably continue to avoid the gym. But that’s status quo for me anyway. I’ve only rarely used the gym in the past. I was hoping to get into some classes when all my kids would have been in school this comming fall. But I think I’ll give it another year. That being said I haven’t got any issues with those that are…
  • Try putting a yoga block under your knees to increase the incline a bit. I found that to be slightly harder than regular knee pushups, but not quite as hard as full pushups. It seems to be a good in between point. I do 3 full pushups because that’s all I can currently do, and then switch to using the block. Hoping to bump…
  • I wear a mask when I go to the grocery store. I wore one when I took my daughter to urgent care last week, I made her wear one too. I even wore one at the Farmer’s Market a few days ago even though it was outside and windy, mostly because half the vendors were selling them and wearing one stopped them from harassing me to…
  • I have these and love them. I haven’t had issues with them falling out, and the sound quality is good for the price. I actually have two pairs so one set is always charged and ready to go. My husband paid the money for AirPods (not the waterproof ones) and they fall out and aren’t noise canceling. He’s admitted he wishes…
  • I’ve been exercising twice a day in recent weeks, but in all fairness the second “workout” is a walk or leisurely bike ride with my kids. For their benefit because we’re all over being in our house. Since my first workout is more intense, and has been part of my regular routine for years, I’m hardly taxing myself. I’m…
  • Get them both. I have 4 (6 if you count the retired ones I use for yard work) pairs of running shoes, so no matter what I wear I match. 😉
  • I have very solid (for lack of a nicer term) legs. I always will. Basically where my legs are concerned I have three options. Solid large and muscular legs, large flabby marshmallow legs. Or malnutrition, and dangerously low body fat percentages. I’m mostly at peace with that. I’m very active and healthy, and I have a hard…
  • I’ve been using a fitness watch of one type or another for coming up on 4 years. I like being able to have my progress and history tracked. I like that they show me where I am with my goals. And it’s really nice when I’m feeling frustrated because I’m not where I want to be, to be able to go back and see how far I’ve come.…
  • The WW program version I originally was introduced to treated most veggies as free. Calorie dense veggies (corn, potatoes, etc) and all fruit still had point value. I liked that version, I haven’t been impressed with the three versions that have come and gone since then. I still don’t always count my high volume/low…
  • WW completely overhauls their program approximately every 4 years and tweaks it a few times in between overhauls. The current program has been around for awhile. I suspect a shiny new program will be forthcoming soon. It’s one of the reasons I stopped using it. I found a version I liked that worked for me, then it was…
  • 45 minute walk with my kids. They were either running back and forth or going slooooooooow, no in between speeds.
  • I like Brooks Ghosts, I tried a pair of Sauconys and I wasn’t impressed, I had to add inserts to make them work for running and even then I only wear them on my treadmill (less impact than cement). I don’t remember what type they were, but it probably had more to do with the model than the brand. They were a third of the…
  • I agree with others who asked what you’ve told your drs. It’s very important that you are giving them the same story you gave us. While my mental health issues are different from yours I have struggles of my own. I will admit that in the past when I have discussed them with my primary drs I haven’t always been completely…
  • I did Lexapro a few years ago. I gained 40lbs while taking it. I don’t directly blaim the SSRI for it. I was definitely eating more than I was burning, and I knew it. I started it to help me deal with an extremely stressful year. I think it came down to how it effected my anxiety. I knew I was gaining weight, it wasn’t…
  • This is great! I’ve found that setting realistic goals keeps it sustainable for me. When I first started working on my fitness I set a 30min/3x a week to begin. I had 3 very small children and finding the time and energy was extremely difficult. I kept that up for several months before it became easy enough and routine…
  • I decided early on that I wasn’t going to add weight loss stress on to everything else. I would focus on staying active and not gaining weight, but I wasn’t going to try to juggle reduced calories on top of all the other added stress. I want to let you know it’s okay to put your weight loss on hold for a bit and focus on…
  • Get good shoes. People told me for years that the reason running made me so miserable (shin splints) was because I had the wrong shoes. I was convinced it was because I had the wrong feet. I blew them off because that’s ridiculous you either run without pain, or you’re like me, just not built for it. I finally humored…
  • Up your calories a bit, and weigh everything you put in your mouth. It entirely possible you are eating more than you think, and that’s why you aren’t losing. Also this close to your goal you need to slow your weight loss rate way back, aim for 1lb a week or less or you’ll find yourself hungry all the time and “cheating”…
  • My treadmill doesn’t ask me how tall I am or what my gender is, it does adjust the burn estimates if I use the heart rate sensors, but it only asks how much I weigh. I don’t pay any attention to its calorie burn estimates because there is no way I trust what it’s telling me.
  • This was definitely true for me, I bought a bikini last summer and went to the beach and pool for the first time since I was in middle school, without wearing shorts or a skirt with my swimsuit. But it’s not because I lost weight, by that point I had gotten to my goal, then put 10lbs back on. Even at my lowest weight I…
  • I haven’t always liked the BMI scale, but still refer to it because it’s an easy scale to refer back to. I do think it’s flawed. But unless you have easy affordable access to a Dexa scanner none of the other methods are perfect either. I’m not an athlete, but I am pretty active. I find all the numbers for all the different…
  • My husband looks at a glance like a person who can eat as much as he wants and never gain. He has maintained the same weight since high school. We actually tracked his calorie intake while he wore an activity tracker for a few days, because I can watch him eat half a pizza and wonder where he puts it as the scale never…
  • New clothing in smaller sizes gets expensive. Especially if you have a few sizes to get through before hitting your goal. On the one hand it’s fun to realize those pants are too big, and then get to go out and get a smaller pair. On the other hand the expense can be a burden.
  • I’ve gone off dairy a few times (breastfeeding babies with milk protein intolerance). I was always watching for reactions in my babies, so I never paid much attention to what it did to me. I did notice a reduction in bloating and better energy off of dairy. But none of the changes were significant enough for me to cut it…

If you go to…
  • I’ve lost then regained 20-40 lbs, 5 times now. 4 of those regains were partially pregnancy, but I’d be lying if I said all of it was... The last time was because life happened. I had a crazy, stressful, hard year. My husband deployed, when he got back we immediately moved states, and then we were sued (by an entitled…
