Thanks, Cadori, that's a good way to look at it!

Thank you all for your prompt responses! I've got about 20 lbs to lose and I also wonder if my metabolism is screwed up from years and years of yoyo dieting. My calorie intake is between 1400-1600 per day. I'll try lowering that to 1300-1500 but I've already eaten 1200 today and it's only 2:30 in the afternoon. Ugh... but…

Thanks, as do you!!

Opalsqueak007, wow, congrats on your success! Sounds like we're pretty much in the same boat. Thanks for your help!

Yes, Nouvelle_Sonia! I've been doing a lot better at keeping my calories at my target of 1350! Thanks for the encouragement!

I've dropped a few more pounds, a total of 8.6. I've resigned to the fact that this is going to be a long and slow process and I'm working on a lifestyle change, not just a quick fix. Losing at a rate of 1/2 lb. per week is what I'm hoping for, anything more than that will be considered a bonus. I'm following a low carb…

Throw a bag of sugar free candy in your suitcase. I love just one or 2 pieces of Russel Stover sugar free peppermint patties. It feels indulgent, tastes delicious and won't leave you feeling deprived, especially when others around you will probably be gorging on sugary desserts.

Oh no, I feel your pain! I, too, fear the scale and have felt very frustrated. I'm losing, but at a snails pace. Someone, I forget who, gave me the best advice-Just breathe and trust the process. She told me to commit to this lifestyle for at least 3 months, sometimes it just takes that long for our bodies to adjust. It's…

Thanks, cdn_beaver, a smoothie sounds delicious too!

Yes, wabmester and Granny, I'm losing, so I must be doing something right. Thanks for your reassurance! I think I do a lot of second guessing and need to really fully trust the process. I have a lot to learn!

I've been eating as low as 39 grams and as much as 88 grams but my goal is about 110 grams. I've considered a side of lean and low calorie roasted chicken breast with whatever I eat for dinner but honestly, really tired of dry chicken...

Protein shakes...thanks, hadn't thought of that!

Offer to bring a side dish, deviled eggs maybe??

Siberianmomma-Thank you! Yes, I'm learning to be patient and as I learn more about the process I'm understanding my journey and appreciating it. And although my scale has barely budged, I'm feeling great so that's a win!

I don't know what it is with me. About 10 years ago I did low carb and had no problem, I lost weight on nearly a daily basis. I'm 55 now and I think my fat is more stubborn than ever! It's not going away. I started again January 1st and have lost 6 lbs., no inches, no looser clothing. And on Valentine's Day I indulged,…

Thanks for your comments. I guess I just need to trust the process, I'm just not sure why it's taking so long to get back in the groove. I'll try more good fats, perhaps.

I eat avocados and coconut oil everyday but I guess I need more, more, more! Thanks, itcphotog!

Hey! I'm Barb and I want to get off this diet roller coaster. I've gained and lost the same 25 lbs for the past 25 years but this year I vow to embrace a lifestyle change that will last forever. I (re)started my journey January 1 and I've lost 5.4 lbs. I'm 55, 5'3" and would love to get down to 130. I'm an empty nester,…

Add me too. I'm trying to keep mine around 25.

Thank you volfan22, Dragonwolf, Sajyana and angela_careen for the sound advice and encouragement. I'm still up and down the same 1/2 lb but I'll keep focuse on your advice and forward.

Thanks, Angela! My calorie intake really fluctuates, sometimes as low as 1200 and other days 1700 or more, although never 2000. Maybe I pay too much attention to calories. I just don't feel right having so many calories and I'm not used to eating so much fat but I guess that's key. I'm going to try not to have any…
