I've been very happy with my BMI drop as well, although still obese. Starting BMI - 43.5 (Class 3 obesity) Current BMI - 34.4 (Class 1 obesity) Planning on not being obese by the end of the year!

You bring up a good point in this post - so many people think they can take the drug and NOT change diet/lifestyle. The drug is a TOOL ONLY. If you don't still change your lifestyle - increase physical activity, better diet - the tool won't help a lot. And, the reason people regain after stopping the drug is they haven't…

I was looking for a blouse for Easter, and ended up buying a couple of other blouses for work - size XL. Eight months ago, when I started working on my weight, I was in a 3X (and it was getting tight). I wore one of the XL shirts yesterday, and it was a little loose fitting! I'm planning on giving myself a wardrobe…

Just reached the halfway point in my weight loss - 60lbs! (Was hoping to reach this by my birthday mid June, and got there early.) Next goal, to no longer be classified as 'obese' (i.e., BMI <30). I'm currently at 240 lbs, so have 40 lbs to lose to make this goal. Plan is to get that by the end of the year. I've been…

I'm at my 1/2 way point of 60 lbs lost (yes, aiming for 120 LBS!) I don't necessarily follow the micronutrients, but strive to eat a healthy diet. If you have a vegetable foward meal plan, and lean protein sources, you will get your micronutrients without any issues. I do take a MVI as well, especially for the iron (I…

Very good list here. I've always eaten pretty healthy (at least when I make my food) and got comments on it. So, no change for me. I've lost 50 lbs so far, and everyone is amazed when I say I did it with diet and exercise (for me, especially exercise). These days people don't believe this can be done, with all the push for…

Best place to get a lot of fiber without adding calories is VEGGIES! Cucumbers, celery, lettuce, etc - all you low cal hard veggies will have a lot of fiber. Agree with above, add fiber slowly or else your gut won't like you. Also, I like to use Carb Cutter tortillas - they have 14 gm of fiber and only 60 calories for a…

You're goal is almost the same as mine! Goal of 240 by my Bday (June 22), final goal ~180. I'm planning on an adventure vacation in Hawaii as a victory vacay for making my goal!

Congratulations! As someone who is 45 lbs down out of 120, I recommend focusing on smaller interim goals. Looking at the big picture, and how far you have to go, can be daunting. I had a goal of 30 lbs by the end of last year (made it plus some) and want to be to the 1/2 way point by my birthday in June - going to buy new…

NSV - I accidentally bought a couple pairs of pants at size 18/20 (usually wore 22/24W). After 4 months of working on my diet and exercise, they fit without any issues (glad I didn't return them)! Now, I went back to that website and bought a couple more pairs on purpose. (on sale, and should be good for the next six…

One thing to keep in mind with the pictures above: "The average body fat percentage for adult females varies depending on factors such as age, ethnicity, and body mass index (BMI). According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), the average body fat percentage for adult females in the United…

You are striving for a BMI of 19.7, which is on the low end of normal (normal 19-25.) This is VERY hard for a person who has been obese. It would be better for you to strive for a BMI goal of 23-25 (130-145). Unfortunately for us who are obese, our skin is very stretched out. So, no matter what BMI you end up with, you…

Really, I think that is a broad question. Yes, you would lose weight by eating less, but losing weight is more than just eating less, it is about changing how you think about food. It is about learning about healthy vs unhealthy foods, and what is better for you to eat. Yes, you could lose weight by eating junk food all…

I've kind of set several targets for myself on goals. Hit one of the first ones - BMI is out of the 40's. I hope to be at 50% weight loss (yes, that's 60 lbs for me) by my birthday next June. I plan on doing a mini makeover (hair, new clothes, etc) at that time. I'm already at just under 30 lbs lost, so think I can make…

Hi, I'm back on MFP, starting to take my health seriously again. I'd love to have an accountability partner with this - don't have anyone locally (but with the internet these days, who needs a local  ) I'm 51 y/o, and live in wonderful, HOT, Texas. I like walking and biking outdoors, and am looking forward to the…

I had a health issue in July, and didn't like the numbers at the Dr.'s office. I decided in August to get back on track again. (Went from 295 to 180 in my 20's, kept it off for a year, then regained everything back) I'm now 2 months in, and starting to hit my goals - working out 5 days a week and increasing my fitness…

I posted in the "please place me on a team" a couple of days ago, but am not sure if I was actually placed on a team. I'm a new member so don't know how this all works.

I'm new here, and am very interested to see what this group is like. GOAL: Better cardiovascular health and strength. I know that I'm obese, but I'd rather focus on better health and exercise tolerance than on the scale. WHY: Quite frankly, I got pretty fed up with how badly I've been taking care of my body. I know what to…

I've never done this before, so don't know much about the team idea. I'm fine with you putting me on any team that needs a member.

Wow, this is a long list! What do you like to be called? My name is Ra Nae How did you learn about the 5% Challenges? I learned about it from the MFP home page. I've never done one of these before, and am interested in it. I don't have anyone to be a gym partner and would love to have online buds interested in health What…
