  • I agree water weight... But is pregnancy also a possibility?
  • I have mine synced to here and then mfp and fitbit do the work and figure out what I can eat. It works and I've lost 100+ doing it this way, so I trust the process.
  • Time, weighing food, staying within your calories (most of the time), and moving more. I've lost 107 lbs so I can tell you that it works, and is completely doable. My top tip: I fit some chocolate or a treat in almost every day. It may require moving more (to earn more calories), but makes me feel like I'm not on a "diet",…
  • I'm 22.5% smaller than I thought! After losing over 100 lbs, I guess my mind is slow to catch up.
  • If your father has polycythemia (too many red blood cells causing very thick blood), then I'm sorry to hear that. My Dad also has that and is on cancer drugs, and get his blood let every few months (to thin it out). Once it is monitored and controlled, he should be able to live a semi normal life. New meds are also helping…
  • I live in the UK (although originally from Canada), and am not a fan of stones. Last night I told a couple people that I'd love 100+ lbs and the one lady had no clue what that meant until they figured out how many stones it was. 7 stones just doesn't sound as impressive as 100 lbs does!
  • I'm glad I could help! Thanks for the friend request. Let me know if you have any questions, and I can try to help answer them. The videos are great... I prefer fitness blender ones, but there are tons on youtube that don't require any equipment, so it's perfect if you can't get to the gym. :)
  • Thanks! I started last September, just about a year. For the first 6 months approx. I lost about 3lb/week, but I wasn't counting my calories then, and since I had so much to lose, it was not unsafe for me then. I now lose about 1-2 lbs/week, which is more appropriate at my weight now. Everyone will lose at different rates…
  • I started off over 300, and am now down to the low 200s after losing 103 lbs. I still have a ways to go, but am on my way there! The advice above is good. Personally, I think of my calorie goal like a budget. I get so much per day and I get to choose how to spend them. I usually try to get a mix of "healthy" foods in (I…
  • I sometimes put spinach and cut up strawberries in a Tupperware container for lunch. The strawberries add a nice sweetness and you don't need any dressing. It takes maybe 2-3 minutes to make and is pretty low calorie for how filling it is.
  • You guys are my people. I have chocolate, or a treat, every day. It gets logged, because I ate it! I just make sure to make it fit. I also LOVE telling people that I've lost over 100 lbs eating chocolate every day... their faces and responses make me giggle inside.
  • I love them too. I'm a huge fan of the fact that they aren't all rah rah... You can do it! Like some many others. They just tell you what to do and get on with it.
  • Tesco healthy living sausages are good! We usually have them with slimming world chips, or mash (made with just a splash of semi skim milk). Sometimes I go wild and put some bistro gravy on it. Slimming world also has tons of good, lower fat, recipes for curries, and other British staples.
  • I never had a big water weight loss. I just lost a moderate/reasonable amount per week for months without a big loss at the start. Everyone is different though and many do lose a big amount of water at the start. Anyways... congrats on getting smaller! Whatever the scale says, you are doing well. :)
  • I don't have mine on. I'm set to sedentary, and very very rarely don't get enough activity to get a positive adjustment (like every 3-4 months if I'm I'll, in which case a few extra calories may be needed). If for whatever reason I eat to my goal and didn't get any negative adjustments when I should have, I'll still be in…
  • Is pregnancy a possiblity? Your Doctor might be a good place to look for answers, if this continues.
  • Just about a year. I hit 101 lb lost last week and I started about the same time last year. It will all depend on how much you have to lose (I still have more to go so that helps), how you go about it, and a large number of factors. Don't rush things, and just make sure you are doing things in a healthy, and sustainable…
  • I keep saying that I'm getting skinny so that I can get fat with a baby lol. We want to start trying next year and I wanted to try to be a healthier weight before then. I have baby fever so it's a huge motivation!
  • I've just finished my MSc in Psychology and studied eating disorders as part of it. Our one lecturer worked in an ED clinic and told us that they are seeing a lot more men with this and it's something that we needed to be aware of as a real, and dangerous condition. I suspect naming it specifically has to do with…
  • 1. I swim 2-3x a week, usually for an hour or up to an hour 20 minutes, depending on how much time I have, and my distance goal. 2. I get a good burn, but like any exercise it is accounted for within my overall deficit. 3. I usually go first thing, so I like a light sports drink (50 cal) and a protein type bar. I'm…
  • The shock absorber is amazing! I have a G-FF cup but they barely move in this bra... and it's fairly comfy too. If you don't like running, there are tons of low impact things you can do: walking, elliptical, bike, swim, low impact aerobics, water aerobics, etc. Fitness blender has some good low impact videos on youtube. I…
  • My hubby is skinny and very sedentary. He is also very supportive, and knows that at this stage, I know what I'm doing and whatever food choices I make are ones I'm happy with making. I typically make dinner, and just give him a larger portion. We both make our own breakfast and lunch. He is happy eating healthier foods,…
  • I find mine pretty accurate too. Maybe double check that both fitbit and mfp are set for the same deficit? Otherwise wait a bit longer (few more weeks) to see what your weight trend is as you could have water weight issues.
  • I decided I want to be in a healthier weight bracket and to be fit... I want it more than staying in bed, or anything else. I know that I'll have pain no matter what so I might as well be in pain walking, or swimming than sitting on my butt lol. For me, getting more fit has helped me feel more in control over my body.…
  • I have chronic pain (neck injury with nerve damage) and just wanted to encourage you! I've lost 99 lbs now with eating less calories than I burn. In fact, I started getting active and while it's not helped my pain (it might do for some) I have a better sense of control over my own body. I swim, walk, and use low impact…
  • I eat one most days and have lost just under 100 lbs (97.5). I'm pretty sure they've not hindered me.
  • Not really a dressing but I love spinach with cut up slices of strawberries on it. They make it nice and sweet and adds another portion of fruit to my day.
  • I'm originally from Hamilton... although I've lived in England for 5 years now.
  • Yup... I also had low salt issues. Drinking too much (water), never adding salt/eating lots of low salt foods, plus sweating a lot during workouts meant that I chronically had low blood sodium. I was tired, felt sick and dizzy. I had to up my dietary sodium and felt so much better after. Clearly not everyone has this…
  • I drink a lot of tea! Since it's 0 calories for black tea, I don't log it (personal preference). I don't take sugar in my tea, but I do take milk. For me, it's easier logging my tea milk all together under snacks. For example, I may put a half cup of milk in the fridge and use it in my tea throughout the day, so I will…
