  • No problem! I'm glad to hear you are doing well and it's working for you. :) Some find that looking at the week's deficit as a whole is helpful as it's not always realistic to be right on each day. Some you may be over, others under. Logging is really helpful though, for sure! Don't stress too much if you eat a lot of…
  • Hi! I have chronic pain and illness. I totally relate to having bad days. I'm stubborn and try to get out walking as much as possible as I find it helps me mentally. Clearly, some days this is impossible, but for me it's all about doing what I can, when I can (I'm very stubborn lol). My biggest challenge is eating really…
  • I took it years ago and gained a lot on it. That was, of course, before I logged or tried to keep my weight in check. It helped a lot with pain though which was great!
  • Hi! I have chronic pain plus a chronic illness (gastroparesis... Which causes further pain). In general, I find I have less brain fog when I can go for a walk or something each day. Moving seems to keep me mentally sharper although I am restricted to low impact and have had to limit weights due to increased nerve damage in…
  • I have gastroparesis so often rely on shakes/ smoothies as food. A pretty neutral shake is some banana, milk, and Greek yogurt (adds a bit of protein and thickens it). You can add honey and cinnamon too if you prefer the taste. Sometimes I'll also add in canned peaches (I can't tolerate fresh ones) which is lovely. I hope…
  • Red Leicester... It's very yummy!
  • I do! I'm new to my diagnosis and have recently been quite ill with it. That means my diet is pretty limited and mostly liquid and pureed food, other than one solid a day that I can currently tolerate. I'm happy to swap ideas and share support though!
  • I can verify that if your "stomach organs" weren't working properly, you'd likely know. My stomach doesn't work well. It basically shuts down for periods which causes me to be constantly nauseated, and throw up lots if I try to eat. Not to mention the severe bloating I have if I eat or drink anything. Illness may cause…
  • Hi! I recently found out that I have gp too, after years of being sick off and on. I'm just starting to be able to handle any sort of food now, after over a month of being really ill. I've been reading up on it, and am happy to send you an add invite so we can keep in touch and share.
  • I'm trying for a baby! :) (It's a pretty good incentive.)
  • @lorrpb , The shock absorber has 2 closures (clasp)... there is one higher up between your shoulder blades and another about an inch (or so) lower. That helps give lots of back support and spread the weight around so it's not focused on one band.
  • The shock absorber. I have g cups and it keeps them locked down.
  • This is completely true for me! Chocolate is a priority so I'll definitely budget it in, whereas other foods aren't worth the calories for me. Someone was trying to tell me that I needed to be eating avocado. I responded that while I didn't mind it, it was far too calorie dense for me to bother when I'm not that much of a…
  • I eat chocolate pretty much every day and have lost over 100 lbs. For me, not labeling food as "bad" and eating most meals as healthy but fitting in treats has been key. Eat the yummy food if you want. :)
  • I love frylight. I use a couple sprays for cooking and the olive oil one over potatoes (to roast in the oven).
  • Skyr all the way! I love melting a bit of pb then mixing it with the yogurt and honey. It tastes like pb cookie dough sort of, and is quite filling!
  • Hello fellow Canuck! I just wanted to drop in to say that you are doing great and I love your attitude. You got this for sure. It's great how serious you are taking your health and how willing you are to be sensible about your approach. I started off over 300 lbs and have lost 116 of them so far, in this past year. It is a…
  • My moto is that I'm getting skinny to get fat! Seriously, the more weight I lose and the more in shape I get, the more that I am excited to gain it with a baby. I'm doing this for me, and to help lesson risks in pregnancy. It is what helps keep me motivated to do this. That's me though. You are in a different situation and…
  • Fitness Blender on youtube. Tons of free videos appropriate for all levels of fitness. They also cover all sorts of stuff such as strength training, cardio, pilates, upper body, lower, and full body. Personally I love that they are realistic about things and aren't all "rah rah... you are great..." as I find that annoying.…
  • You can do it! Weigh and log your food and move as much as you can. Little things like marching in place while the kettle boils. I started out around 315 and am down 112 lbs now. For me, moderation is key. I haven't given up any food, and just use my calories as a budget. I also have a fitbit, which is a great tool, even…
  • Fitbit doesn't automatically track non-step activity (perhaps HR ones might but the others won't). If what you are doing doesn't rely on steps, then you need to manually input them. If you go into your activity log, you can do that, and it will add the calories to your overall calories burned and active minutes (if the…
  • You are doing super great if you realise that you have an issue and are seeking help. You got this... keep focused on doing what your counselor/team says and know that you are stronger than your ED.
  • I've lost 112 lbs on the mini pill (plus still losing on other meds that "cause" weight gain) so I'm pretty sure it can be done.
  • I've had mine almost a year and find it to be pretty accurate. I seem to lose pretty close to what I should lose based on the math.
  • 1 part Greek yogurt with 1 part flour makes a great pizza base. It's relatively low calorie for a pretty big pizza. Add whatever toppings you like. You control the cheese and such, so you can make it as healthy as you want. Slimming world's smash pizza base is pretty low calorie too, and tastes good as well.
  • Treat your calorie goal like a budget. Some days may be over, others under, but so long as it balances out at the end of the week, you'll lose weight. You'll find some things are too "expensive" to have all the time and others (veggies, etc.) are very cost effective. Eat what you want, but just keep your budget in mind.…
  • I eat back the large majority of my fitbit calories and have lost 100+ lbs doing so. Give it some time and if still no changes (after a month) adjust as you need to. Let time and results guide you.
  • I started things with sw and then when I got my fitbit, and was working out more, I switched to calorie counting. I find it's easier to keep track of calories to make sure I'm eating enough for my activities but not too much that I don't erase my deficit. Mfp is free and I've lost about 75 of my 100+ lbs lost this way so…
  • I got to be overweight as a kid after a year of heavy medication for health issues. Then when I was 13, I was deathly ill and one test found that I was processing very few calories because my digestive system wasn't working right. This, alongside living in an overweight family (with one family member who would diet, gain…
