It's different for everyone, in my experience. I recommend aiming to burn 500 calories a day in exercise. And I never eat my 'exercise' calories because that just doesn't work for me. I like to aim for 45 minutes of exercise per day, and I try to eat under 1400 calories. I know from using MFP for over 2 years, if I eat…

Sounds like good info from usmcmp. I will use this info - hoping to build more muscle. I'm over 50, so would like to approaching the later years with healthier muscle mass. (lean muscle)

Hoping you ended up having a fantastic time and were able to find a dress that was tolerable. Thanks for sharing your frustrations. It's helpful to know we all have our struggles.

I can totally relate. I try not to eat too many carbs, no pasta, etc. I do eat sugar, but not a huge amount. Anyway, when I go 'off the wagon' over a holiday weekend or whatever, I have the food hangover too. A good incentive to get back to eating healthy!

Well, this is a humorous thread, but I think I get what you're asking. I've lost 30 lbs (several times) and I'm now over 50, so what I have left is the jigglier type of fat as opposed to the more dense fat I used to have more of. I think it takes similar effort to lose either. It may require more toning to finish losing…

Could you be eating too few calories, especially with your exercise? Sometimes adding 150 +/- calories in protein seems to help me.

Sending good wishes that your journey is a positive one.

I weigh daily, first thing in the morning. If I'm up, it encourages me to do better, if I'm down in weight that encourages me too. I know that I'll be up if I've consumed a lot of salt the day before, or other things like that, so I expect it. Weekly is probably a better way to go, but I like weighing daily. I do expect…

I'm maintaining and continue to log. As a foodie, the weight creeps back up if I don't keep track of it. It's a pain to log daily, but it helps me to stay at my goal weight. I do know what to eat, and portion size, etc., but it gets out of control if I'm not logging. Would love to be able to maintain without it though.....

I agree with what appears to be a consensus - add a small amount of calories per day (200+/-) for a week or so and see what that does for you. I've done that with good results. For me, I find adding protein calories is best. And I too indulge in moderate alcohol, but am careful with those calories. Good luck!

Sorry for the disappointment, but good for you for reading something that was motivating! One step at a time.

I've got you beat, I'm 51. : ) Cheers to accountability and good choices!

It all takes great effort and commitment for me. Both require a determination to stick with what's important to me. I've been on MFP for over 500 days straight, but it's what helps me to maintain a weight that I like. : )

Me too. : ) Lifelong battle with weight, currently doing pretty well. Good luck!

Hi! Always up for connecting with people who are looking to give and receive support on this journey!

I agree with the majority of what folks have said, be smart, be sure to get a decent amount of protein, moderate amount of fat and carbs. Eat 'right' 80% of the time and you'll be able to indulge a little in the less healthy things you like 20% of the time. There's no magic, be smart about how you eat and create good…

I think there are lots of ways to interpret what was said. I try to be glad of my accomplishments, and not be bothered by comments that aren't very nice, or don't line up with my thoughts about my weight. Sounds like you're doing a great job!

Hang in there, keep making good decisions on what you eat, keep at drinking water, move as much as possible (regular activity plus exercise). It should work out in the long run, if your calories out are more than your calories in (for the most part). : ) Good luck!

Congrats! Awesome work.

Sending you good wishes that you achieve your goals. You can do it, and try not to worry about what other people think. You're worth it!

Make good choices every day. Stay active. If you're at home with the tv on, walk in place, jog in place, buy a $50 stepper and cheap handweights and use them. It's all about discipline and determination. Make good food choices - lean proteins and a lot of veggies, very little carbs. MyFitnessPal and Fitbit have been very…

Add spinach or kale?

Hi! It can be very frustrating, can't it?! My advice, and I used MFP for all of 2014 and still do, is to be VERY accurate in entering what you eat and how much. And I NEVER eat the calories I get in exercise. I would definitely either not lose, or gain, if I did that. (But I'm older than you, fyi.) Stick with it, and I…

Sending good wishes. Fortunately, I enjoy moving, so exercise is almost a treat to me most of the time. I do a lot at home - stepping/walking in place, jogging in place, I have a mini-trampoline, a small stepper (just the steps, not a big machine). I find I get decent exercise on all of these, plus handweights with any…

I'm addicted to MyFitnessPal and FitBit, both have helped me with accountability. You CAN do it! And remember, if you have a bad moment as far as eating, or even a bad day, just get right back to it and stick with your goals. Wishing you all the best!
