Hi. With the amount you want to lose, it will take a while. Eating so few calories long term will be difficult (impossible?) from a psychological point of view and dangerous for your body. Believe me you don't want to your hair to start falling out and the such. You could calculate your TDEE how many calories you spend on…

Yep this is so true. It took me 9 years but the deficiencies were severe! I would have had to take supplements if I wanted to continue being a vegetarian. It is just more sensible to eat some meat (in my case).
-
I strongly disagree with this. How long have you been a vegan/vegetarian and do you take any supplements? Replacing meat with beans and tofu doesn't work for everyone! (didn't work for me) For example, the human body has way more trouble absorbing iron that comes from beans than iron that comes from meat. When you say that…

Short answer: no. Long answer: Well I was a vegetarian for 9+ years. I went to the doctor, because my hair was falling out. I was lacking iron, biotin, zinc and I don't remember the rest. Result: I had to take a lot of pills for a few months (they wanted to give me iron intravenously but I am afraid of needles). I am no…

Sometimes I don't have the time (or the inclination) to cook a home made meal. In that case it can be nice to have a low calorie and quick alternative. Otherwise I might turn to the cookie box. Good for you that you don't need to resort to this, but try and understand other people aren't perfect.

We KNOW the bottom line is CICO! But achieving CICO isn't easy for everyone... otherwise we wouldn't be here. So why are you leaving obnoxious answers instead on leaving tips to help others on their journey? Really... as much as I understand this kind of comment in posts talking about "fasting" and "cleanse" and "fats are…

Next week is so close, it won't make any real difference even you are eating a little over maintenance. However lowering your calories by yourself could lead to a bad bad trend. So wait for your dietitian's advice.
-
You should go back with the food and they will probably refund you (and apologize!). I have worked as a waitress and at a Mcdonald's, and I know sometimes things go wrong! So try to be understanding, specially if it only happened ONCE. But I know it can be very disappointing and annoying. I've happened to have been…

Where do those guidelines come from? Because they seem very restrictive to me.
-
Since is less than 2 pounds a week, it seems reasonable for the first 30 pounds you want to lose. However for the last 15-20 maybe losing 1 pound a week would be more reasonable (so 3 pounds every 21 days).

I think a lot of people have a point when talking about the stress of moving and Well, don't the wages also change to reflect those prices? Prices are higher so wages are higher and purchasing power stays the same? (Just curious, I have never even been to Australia so I wouldn't know).
-
Ahah I find this so funny because EVERY person I know who went to Germany (usually 1 year as an exchange student) gained a LOT of weight while there... Though I guess it had more to do with the abundance of good and cheap beer than with the food.

Hi! I am originally from Portugal. When I moved to Switzerland I gained weight (all the chocolate and cheese :)) but not too much. Then I moved from Switzerland to Canada (I am back in Switzerland) and that's when I gained a bunch of weight. It also coincided with me not living at home anymore so it was a "double effect"…
-
Hi. If you want to be really accurate, you could weigh the entire roast raw (TWR) and the entire roast cooked (TWC). Then you weigh your cooked slice and multiply the number by TWR/TWC to get the raw weight of your slice.

On a similar note, last week I really disliked a sauce I used with spaghetti. So I spent 10 minutes washing the pasta and separating it from the chunks of sauce so I could re-use it with another sauce.

So… thank you all for your answers! I did not expect so many answers, but I absolutely read them all. It’s nice to see there are many of us in the same situation. :) I noticed, almost nobody is eating less than 1200 a day (as an average) and many of us started by eating 1200 kcal a day but started eating more after a…

In my mind PCOs affect where you gain weight. It's an hormonal thing, like the ladies that go into menopause and gain fat around their midsection. I also find that I have nice legs but so much fat around my stomach / love handles.
-
Also, I have PCOs and I am losing weight. I think for some people it may be harder than others but it is definitely possible to lose weight when you have PCOs. I don't need to eat only 900 cal. I am eating 1200-1400 kcal and have lost 4kg since 11 January. I am 5'5, sit all day and barely go to the gym.

If you have been eating at restaurants you have probably been eating more salt than usual --> water retention If you will have your TOMs soon --> water retention So this weight fluctuation is normal. Using a laxative will make you lose weight but that's pointless... It's waste not fat and it will come back.

Oh that is really strange coming from a French family. I am from Switzerland and here french people have a reputation for having "thinner standards". For example, French sizes are much smaller than German/Swiss sizes. That aside, if your mother is heavy herself she might have some distorted view of what is normal, to…

I am trying to work up the courage to start lifting because I am so jealous of you lifters that have super nice bodies at my BMI and eat a ton of calories and still lose/maintain... But I am not quite there yet, motivation wise.
-
Well if you are going to eat it all yourself over a few days it really doesn't matter. I only cook for myself, but never mix pasta/rice with the rest because I don't like to re-heat them.
-
Well, I don't know. But since she said She seems to be logging accurately. Your "one fits all" answer that "you are eating more than you think" doesn't seem appropriate here.
-
http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/CalRequire.html Maybe you can use an online calculator to figure out your TDEE. I don't know how accurate they are though.
-
I believe that you do have a slow metabolism (since you seem to log accurately). However I also believe there must be a medical condition in there that maybe could be fixed.
-
It is so weird that you seem to gain on more than 1100 kcal... Did you check with a doctor to see if you have a thyroid problem? (or another problem that makes you gain weight easily)
-
That is so smart! I usually use the total weight as a serving, so sometimes I am eating 0.20 servings of a recipe. I am using your technique next time.
-
Or maybe in one year you will be posting it along with a new photo in the success stories section

Grams. Grams make sense. 1000 g =1 kg = 1 liter of water. You can weigh yourself and your food and your drinks with the same unit of measure. I always have to use a converter for pounds and ounces.

It also depends on the country... lots of brands are present in different countries but the food is not exactly the same. I know that because usually entries from the US (like Kellog's, Lay's, Oreos, Mcdonalds) don't match what I see in the packaging here (Switzerland).
