That is true, but only if you still eat, like you eat to little a day can make your body think it's in starvation mode and every little thing that comes into your body is stored as fat. But if you don't eat for days as I did you shouldn't gain weight, not like this.

I understand, I would give up too, which is part of the problem. Its hard to do but you can. Just keep at it till you get it right. Thats what I'm doing, which is why I started back on here yesterday. I am finally ready for a change and prepared to fight for it. [/quote] I didn't know that my meds caused my weight gain, I…

Thank you AngelMarie!!! I'm a med student myself and I went to a medical high school, and I have work at hospitals.

I just said any number, I had periods when I would eat maybe one apple and then nothing for maybe 1-3 days. I have fainted because of this, so I'm not some super human or anything.

But they do make you gain weight http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/features/is-your-medicine-cabinet-making-you-fat

I didn't eat that much, but I was very active. I still gained weight. I tried dieting during this period as well, but would give up after 3-4 weeks when I still gained.
-
Not only that, it can make you gain weight as well, I had periods when I hardly ate anything, I was well under 2000 a day. And I still gained

I agree with this, it's better to have a change of lifestyle instead of diet. Thinking of it as a diet never helped me so I changed my lifestyle to something I can continue with in the long run as well since it's not only about losing weight, but also becoming more healthy.

I was put on meds that would increase my appetite, my doc said that it would be the worst side effect, but that I needed that since I hardly eat. But all I got was weight gain and no appetite. After I changed doc I found out the drug makes you gain weight and should never be given to a overweight person. I was already a…

You can gain weight while on certain meds. There has been research proving that people on certain drugs gain a significant amount of weight during the first year or 6 months of using the drug. These researches are made on thousands of people out there, you can't draw the conclusion that all of them are on a bad diet. In my…

I'm on antidepressants. I gained a lot of weight even though I hardly ate anything for days.. I was really active during these periods as well, so I can't really say that my body was storing everything as fat. I needed all the energy I got in me.

I do this or I don't count those in, it depends. I go after how I feel, can I do without eating them, I count them out, but at most I eat half of the calories or 3/4.

Are you on any meds? And have you checked your hormone levels. This happened to me as well, it's taken me almost a month to stop gaining and finally losing some. Other then that are you measuring every thing you eat correctly? How do you count how many calories you lose when you work out?

Hi, feel free to add me, having friends to motivate you and for you to motivate them, it helps loads!

Hi, I've only been at it for almost a month, been on MFP for 5 days, I have around 35kg I need to lose! I would love to have some friends here, so feel free to add

No, pretty much never, which sucks since I'm single.

I used to work at a hospital, but study medecine now, I get where you're coming from, I once fainted at work because I didn't get time to eat and was running around for hours. What I tried to do was bring smaller snacks like fruits or some carrots, that'll help you, and I tried to get some food in me before shift started,…

Hi are you on any meds? Some meds makes you gain weight and losing it is harder then normal.
-
True, meds can mess those stuff up, and the meds I am on have alot of side effects. My old doc just never told me about the ones my old meds had. My new doc is really good with that and we disscuss the side effects of the drug etc. etc.
-
I didn't think of that, once I get my scale I'll have that covered :) thanks!
-
This isn't my word, it's my doctors and I am a med student, and medicines can make you gain weight. This is what I study, and I used to think like you as well, but I know that it can.

You said right in there that you can't weigh your food yet. That is fine, but you don't know how much you are actually eating unless you are weighing your food. Even fruit. I have weighed my fruit and found my generic entries to be off by 30-40 calories because I assumed the serving was "medium" versus "large." 30-40…

Thank you for the website, I'll check it out. But I am not vegan, I eat eggs and dairy products just no meat and no fish or anything from the sea. I read that the vegetarian diet would still be lacking a lot. I didn't know that but my sister pointed it out and Cheerios seemed like the best way since I often don't have a…

1) I don't say that my meds are the reason I am overweight, that is my diet, but last year when I gained a lot I was very active, I lived on the sixth floor with no elevator, and I lived in a 2 storie apartment, I would go up and down those stairs at least 4-5 times a day, I walk a lot and since I am very stressed and…
