  • Definitely! The inner thighs of my pants would always wear prematurely and I would need to get new ones at least once a year. My latest pairs are both more than a year old :)
  • Challenge completed! Three 8 km obstacle races, ~50 obstacles, with each result better than the last. Now I am a XMAN triple Crown survivor!!! Now I'm wondering if I should do it again next summer... decisions, decisions...
  • I'm one of those who lose on 1800-2000 cals a day, lol. I'm currently maintaining (~2400 cals a day, not tracking assiduously.) because I find it too hard to lose during summer (bbq, beer and ice cream... deadly). So instead of feeling deprived I just maintain. I'll be back to losing after my last obstacle race in…
  • I want to be able to do 50 push ups and 10 pull ups by mid august. Currently at 15 push ups and 3 pull ups, so I think its doable :)
  • Mine wasn't that bad but it is so firm that I felt all my bones and kept getting numb spots/limbs. I bought a super soft mattress pad, its about 3 inches thick. Like sleeping on a cloud.
  • Bell peppers, cucumbers, a few nuts or, when I have a sweet craving, a small portion of very dark chocolate.
  • Inverted rows got me started, then everything @sardelsa mentioned.

  • I have the same issue, though the worse is my thighs. Did some quick research when I noticed it and it turns out blood vessels are created when one gains fat, but aren't necessarily reabsorbed when the fat is lost, so they start showing if one has pale skin. Eh, its really a really minor cosmetic issue.
  • Unexpected result... more tan. Just because I choose to go outside more and walk instead of taking the car. (Yes! I put sunscreen! )
  • I lost weight with CICO, but I focused a lot on veggies and protein in my diet. First, I love them and second, this combination makes me feel more satiated so, less cheating. While maintaining I have a very varied diet, but I clearly see that eating a lot of carbs makes me way, way hungrier. The only thing I completely cut…
  • Weirdly, I can't do a lat pull down with my bodyweight, but I can do 4 pull-ups... It must be a mental thing I used mostly inverted rows and negatives to get my first pull up, and now I use elastic bands to get volume (more reps with an elastic than without). Most of the progress was done on technique. Personally, I don't…
  • Started 30.7, hovering between 25-26 (overweight) for the last 8 months. Will probably try to lose another 10-15 pounds next winter which will bring me to my goal and BMI of about 23. I mostly agree with McCloud33, though to me, BMI is a tool, and a good tool to set your initial goal from obese to normal weight. However,…
  • My recommendation is lifting weights and time. I found that when losing weight, the fat in my thighs got really loose and jiggly. I weight trained (and still do) so the muscle is showing more and more, but only time made the remaining layer of fat less flabby as the tissues tightened back up. You may currently be in that…
  • Oh I remember the thigh rub and chafing. Being free of that curse is probably my #1 unexpected result, and just for that, I am very motivated to maintain (and lose that last 10 lbs, lol). Wearing shorts and dresses and skirts and walking all day in the heat with not even a hint of irritation. Bliss. I do not want to go…
  • So true! And concurrently, I tell myself I should buy more gym clothes so I don't have to do the laundry all the time, but now I'm out of space, and I'm still doing a ton of gym clothes laundry... I think I need to go through my clothes and throw out the too big stuff again...
  • My work group is joining the summer slowpitch softball league again. We had our first practice last night. Last summer I could hit the ball half the time, but only got it over the second base (and directly in the short-stop's glove) a couple times. Last night, after a few swings, I hit it midfield. Then I did it again...…
  • Where are you gripping the bar? It should be gripped by the hand, not the fingers, so that the weight is (mostly) in line with the forearm like in the neutral position below (no wrist extension!). Grip hard so the bar doesn't slip out.
  • Same as what Hell_flower said. Use'em and you'll appreciate them all the more! Also, if they have become particularly jiggly, that may be a good sign. I have noticed that fat, especially belly, hips and thighs, get's really jiggly during weight loss then shrinks and firms, than gets jiggly again... Be patient, your body is…
  • First, as other posters mentioned, check your shoes! I often get foot cramps, but I can minimize them with magnesium supplements, especially when I've been very active/sweated a lot. They tend to occur at the end of an intense workout, when I do some stretches. Usually I only have 1 or 2 magnesium tablets a week and they…
  • I used the zombies, run! couch to 5k app. Worked awesome, got me running 5 k. Not very fast mind, but with no stopping so great! It was entertaining, which was essential as I am not a runner, I was just doing it for the cardio.
  • Rock on! Chin-ups and pull-ups making steady progress. When I started I had trouble just hanging on the bar!
  • I took a look at your diary, and I'm not seeing that much tuna/chicken and egg whites. In fact I'm seeing very few home cooked meals. Have you tried any new recipes lately?
  • Oh I feel you! I'm hovering at 165-166 and that <164 for normal BMI is just ... there! So close! Come on, one more week!!!
  • I actually just bought a mattress topper. My mattress is a little hard now and my bones (shoulders, shoulderblades, hips) are sometimes sore in the morning. Hopefully this will help, because I can't afford a new mattress right now.
  • So glad to hear that someone else saw the same effect of fermented foods lowering the sweet tolerance! The brand of kombucha I buy (Rise) has a how-to to make a scoby out of their kombucha. Might give it a try and start one this weekend. What type of container to you use for the fermenting process? And do you give them a…
  • I never took probiotics in a pill, but I included fermented foods when I started my weightloss. In addition to all the previously mentioned benefits, I noticed less of a tolerance for very sweet food (candy, maple syrup and their ilk). After a portion or so I just can't tolerate another bite. I make my own sauerkraut,…
  • Awesome!!! Got a comment from my kickboxing coach that my speed during sparring has drastically improved.
  • You do not "burn" calories by breathing directly. You continually "burn" calories by being alive, and that process (metabolism) uses oxygen you breathe in and produces CO2 which you breathe out. If you stop breathing you stop the metabolism and you die. MFP estimates that MINIMUM amount of calories to LIVE, according to…
  • Age & Height: 29, 5'7.5'' Start Weight: 202 lbs Goal Weight:155 lbs Current Weight: 167 lbs Weight Loss Start Date: Jan 2015 Weight Lost Till Now: 35 lbs What motivated you to take the initiative: Kickboxing progress was stagnant, felt heavy, saw a good deal for online coaching Did you have any medical conditions: No How…
