Fit Thanks. She is doing thyroid focused testing now. Should have better understanding re drivers, severity etc late next week.

Gale Thanks - I get it re LT effects - I was expecting all positive re blood tests. this is negative big time. My mother dies of heart attack and stroke so this is bad news. I want to figure out rapidly if ketosis has unintentionlly walked me into a bad scenario re TGL and thyroid.
-
NDVOICE - Thanks re your thoughts - all very disturbing to me. Seems like I need to wait for the blood tests to find out what is driving the thyroid issue, Whether this isdrriven be ketosis diet, auto immune et
-
Little Zebra - I feel your pain. Seems like you are in the same place as me. Doing low carb é high fat re ketosis for good objectives and wind up with apparently negative results - ie high TGL. It has ceratainly come to me as a negative surprise. I am hopeful that the thyroid issue is not driven by the diet - I am boosting…

Thanks again to all. I have lost a whack of weight - over 20 pounds using ketosis. I understand that beyong weight loss ketosis provides other benefits - ie cancer avoidance etc. The recent issue re high TGL seems to be thyroid related but waiting for the blood tests. In the mean time I am seeking to increase both iodine…

Thanks to all of you. Between your posts and some research it appears to be thyroid. I did not originally mention it as did not know connection. But the panel showed low thyroid which she is running more tests on. Low thyroid leads to high trigs - not clear yet why. So need to figure out how to deal with thyroid to get…

Thanks - I have lost a lot of weight so ketosis seems to be working. The high tri glycerdes a big surprise. May be tied to thyroid issues.
-
VERY INTERESSTING - she flagged that thyroid is showing hypo / reduced action. Sshe sent me for a whack of thyroid tests to assess this. What is the link between hypo thyroid and high triglycerides. This is very upsetting as have lost a lot of weight and now seem to havebad blood work...
-
Thanks - I will aim to get numbers but this is totally unexpected. I have lost 2 pounds in the last month and getting red on ketostix and showing high triglycerides - very strange...

Thanks all! I got it - excellent. Keto On!

Thanks all. Costco tub i2 2.3 litres for 23CDN. Roughly half what I was paying at regular retail. Live and learn.
-
Kirkor - yes that makes sense. Pushing protein up risks gluco neogenesis. So has become clear that the lever is fat.

Thanks all for your guidance. I have set up for all three saturated, mono and plyunsaturated based on your thoughts. They were all prior set to defaults. Once I set based on your accumulated guidance I find that my actuals since inception are relatively close to the targets based on your accumulated experience.

Totaloblivia - keep going - you are worth it!

Thanks to all of you for your ideas!

NasherBasher thanks for your thoughts. So make it iterative. Good thought.

Thanks. I just looked at that. Looks like it could be any combination. Final conbination may depend of personal biology.

Thanks - as usual - the simple answer. Will try boosting my water.

On the cheating issue I have learned this the hard way. Last Friday I went out with friends blew through my macros. So I was out of keto immediately - added 8 pounds (likely all water) and only yesterday Thursday was the water gone and back on keto per the strips. So I have lost 5 days in the battle. I found this really…

Thanks very much to all of you for your kind thoughts and suggestions. I went on keto for diet and have unfortunately realized that there is more here than just the diet. It is a long term health solution. I failed miserably this last weekend again and am today (Monday night) just getting ketosis re-started. I am going to…

Thanks very much to all of you for all your help. Besides my normal vitamin supplements I now have stand alones for potassium and magnesium and I also got boullion.
-
Thanks all of you for your thoughts. Very much appreciated.

My sleep is also messed up. I have been taking potassium and magnesim to avoid muscel cramping as I have seen many people post on that issue. Is the sleep disturbance a temporary thing that goes away once your body is used to getting fewer calories or does it remain as long as you are loosing weight? Peter

Fit Goat Thanks very much. I think I can live with the trade off between accuracy and the daily blood letting. On the warm up - I beleive it is USB power. I don't see the big ssue here - the testing is not urgent so the warm up does not seem like a big problem to me. Peter

Historiclly my high carb craving was dark chocolate with chillies. I haev been on LCHF for a couple of weeks and I am waiting for the diet to start feeling one. I blew up of Friday and Saturday as I went out for dinner with friends. But the protein / fat combo is working very much re curbing my snack impulse.
-
Sorry - typo - should be 70/ 25 / 5
-
Angel - on LC HF you are not supposed to have protein above fat. Roughly 80 to 15 to 5 split. With that much protein you will be in glocogenisis that will cret glucose and then you are out of ketosis.
-
Thanks - think I get it. So my target for protein is fairly in line with your range. Clearly there will be days when I blow past the protein target by say 20-50 grams. Think you are saying at these levels this might possibly create some glucogeneis but not at levels driven by glucose so not going to get massive insulin…

Fit Goat - Thanks for some truly great inforamtion on a topic I am seeking to nail down as a newbie in Ketosis Land. I am at 86 kilos and targeting (based on multiple web sites, etc) 140 gm per day of protein. This is a ratio of 1.63 which ties well to the range you set out 1.6-1.8. My quesion is as follws., i recently…
