For me it has been the way I view food. I think it takes the same amount as losing except most people enjoy eating more than dieting hence why people feel it's faster.( 3500 calories surplus to gain 1lb, 3500 calories to lose). How fast can you eat?

Easier said than done but we have to substitute our bad coping mechanisms (reaching for food when upset) to more constructive ones (exercise, chores , walking , redecorating , organize ur closet , etc..) not as fun as eating but you will feel better afterwards instead of worse

I get disappointed in myself when I realize how fit I was when I was younger and how weak I've become , but when you do keep working at it you do get your strength back surprisingly fast .. So keep going keep track of what you could and could not do and you WILL get stronger
