I lost my first 25 pounds with no exercise beyond the usual dog-walking. In fact, when you do start exercising, the scale may go up a couple of pounds for a while because muscles retain water when they're repairing themselves. It's normal, just keep going. :)

The activity level is supposed to not include workouts. Does the 7,000-10,000 steps include the workout steps? Do you have a desk job? If so, you might even want to consider sedentary. The more active settings are for people who are on their feet all day/while they work.

I keep a variety of sauces in the fridge to make lean-protein-and-veggies more interesting, but my favorite is putting all of the toppings on my cheeseburgers.

Good for your skin, maybe. But nothing will really help stretch marks. They'll fade a bit over time, but stretch marks are tears in the sublayers of skin that lotion can't reach. I have them from my upper thighs to above my navel, but having a baby was (usually  ) totally worth it.

Smoothie with frozen fruit (140g), yogurt (110g), and protein powder (15g). I recently started adding some Ovaltine (11g) for chocolatey vitamins (and because I realized my son wasn't going to finish it and I didn't want it to go to waste). 220 calories, more if I use bananas as the fruit.

Nothing on your plate should be touching anything else.

Hi Marmy, welcome to MyFitnessPal! There are a lot of interesting conversations in the Community pages. I will add you as a friend. Feel free to ask questions! MFP works if you do it right!

I am keeping two pairs of big pants that whisper "good job, rockstar!" every time I open that drawer. The rest I donate.

Also, depending on how much you have to lose, eating 15% over your goal might not create a very big deficit for you.
-
Is the exercise new? You might be retaining water from that. Are you weighing all of your food in grams with a food scale? If not, you might be overestimating your calorie intake. Three weeks isn't that long to not show a change on the scale, you might just need to be patient and wait for the "whoosh." Stick with it!

Losing weight takes determination and patience. Be determined to do it for yourself and the life you want to live. Start logging everything you eat, including cooking oils. Use a food scale to weigh your food in grams and find an accurate entry in the MFP database or create your own. Try to get close to your calorie goal…

Agreed - don't let 1 pound get in the way of an amazing experience. Just pick up your usual eating habit where you left off.
-
Some days you may go over your usual calorie goal, but you aren't "cheating" anyone or anything.

I'm also 45 and single! I get bummed about it sometimes (like when my dad keeps implying I'm a lesbian, and not in a supportive way) but I'd rather be single than be with someone I don't love, and I just haven't met him yet. It also helps me to remember that not too long ago, women weren't allowed to be single and active…

Are you weighing everything you eat in grams and using accurate database entries? It's common for people to be eating more than they think.

Hi and welcome! I'm 5'2" as well, and I'm down 47 pounds, it's totally doable! You're off to a great start with logging what you eat. Make sure you read the stickied posts about weighing your food, etc., it will help. Feel free to add me as a friend and ask questions.

My favorite easy soup is equal portions of black beans and salsa. Heat it up then use an immersion blender to soup it. Serve with cheese and chips if you're feeling fancy. (Note: all of the flavor comes from the salsa, so use a salsa you really like)

Congrats on the babies! My son is 19 and I've finally lost the baby weight! :D Down 47 pounds, 3 pounds to goal. Feel free to add me as a friend, I'm on here all the time.

40 pounds is great progress, but it sounds like your body is asking for a break. I agree with switching to maintenance for a while.
-
Hi and welcome! MFP totally works, you can do it!
-
Whatever you consider the "wrong things" - have some and track them. Work them into your calories for the day. If you want to maintain 10st when you get there, what you eat has to be sustainable since you'll have to eat that way for the rest of your life. So start eating things you really like even if you think they're…

This protein donut thread is very popular! I'm planning to try them this weekend. The Kodiak protein pancake mix is really good. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10570146/protein-donuts-using-your-favorite-protein-pancake-mix/p1

Roast some diced eggplant, add it to drained chickpeas in a pan and heat it up with a little salsa. Delicious, filling, and low calorie.

Maybe your eyes are bad because you aren't eating enough? 1000 calories a day isn't enough to get adequate nutrition. You need at least 1200 PLUS what you burn exercising.

Reduced fat Swiss cheese. All cheese, really. I bought reduced fat Swiss by mistake and was reminded why I don't buy reduced fat cheese. I'd rather eat less of the real thing.

Macros don't matter for weight loss, only calories do. I'm down 45 pounds eating a variety of foods and not really watching my macros. Eat what you like and what keeps you feeling full, and track it. Then be patient. It works! Depending on your current stats, you might not lose 10 pounds in 5 weeks, but it will be a…

Hi and welcome! Alkaline and hydrogen water sound like woo - stuff that someone made up to sell you something. Unless the article is from a reputable source, like the Mayo Clinic, be very skeptical. Also, soups are my go-to for meal prep! Very easy and great for this time of year.
-
Hi and welcome! I'm pretty close to your stats (5'3", started at 182, currently 136, heading for 132) but probably a bunch older than you (45). You don't have too much to lose so it might be slow. Just start logging (weigh everything in grams) and be patient. You can do it! And congratulations on your graduation!

Pizza Hut has fantastic nutrition information on their site. I use it for any pizza that doesn't have info available.
