Three things I wish someone had told me at the beginning: 1. Get a fitness band. (I've owned a Fitbit and a Jawbone UP and the UP is superior) 2. Get a food scale so you know exactly what goes into you instead of guesstimating. 3. Set lots of small goals so I don't get overwhelmed with the big ones. Good luck! If you'd…

Limit yourself to only watching TV on your iPad while slowly walking around your house. I have been doing this for months and now I hate to sit while I watch!

I'm halfway to my goal so I am rewarding myself with an overnight trip to a resort casino with my husband. We aren't really gamblers but we're going to see a comedian we enjoy and spend the afternoon in the spa being pampered. When I reach my final goal, we have a small savings fund we're keeping in order to get some plane…

I think there is a line that can be crossed. Positive encouragement from parents is fantastic. Learning about how healthy foods effect the body from parents is great way for children to develop healthy eating habits. That being said, as someone who was mentally, verbally and physically abused by her mentally ill mother, I…

This is exactly how I feel. Now that I am halfway to my goal, this is my biggest concern when I eventually get to maintaining.

I don't understand why you can't fit bacon into your macros. Do you already eat a full days worth of fat with another meal?
-
Thank you for posting this. It's exactly what I needed to read this morning.

I would say my biggest supporter is myself. As I go through my journey, I have found I have more strength and discipline than I ever imagined. Although I am grateful for my supportive husband and wonderful MFP friends, I could do it without them. As for family, mine aren't good people so we went our separate ways a long…

I did something similar recently. I bought a pair of leggings in XL and when I got home and opened them, they were too big! I went down a couple sizes and didn't even realize it.

I'm 26, on a 1200 calorie diet, and I keep my food diary open to friends! I've already lost 27 lbs and still need to lose about 35 more. You can add me to your friends if you'd like and I'll gladly lend you my support.

I was in a similar situation last summer when my father in law was having marital troubles and moved in with my husband and I. We both eat healthy but my FIL doesn't. My husband and FIL had some fights about him bringing in junk food to purposely tempt us, and the whole thing didn't end well. Luckily after six weeks he…

Congrats on the beginning of your journey!

I try not to eat any of my exercise calories. I stick closely to my daily goal and I lose 1.5-2 lbs a week.

My hair fell out, my fingernails grew clubbed and brittle, I slept 18-20 hours a day as if I was in hibernation. I gained 65 lbs in 4 months on a strict 1350 calorie diet.

Nobody in my life except my husband seems to notice that I have lost 25 lbs. It makes me insecure, and I think that I probably still look as fat as ever. I wish someone would acknowledge my hard work, as they had no problems saying negative things about my weight when I was fatter.

Welcome!

Like many others, I weigh myself naked in the morning before I eat, but after my morning BM.
-
Are you getting 25g of fiber everyday? It's usually as simple as that.

There are reasons to switch from other oils to coconut oil. I use it for any pan frying I do, like fish and stir fry. It doesn't feel as heavy in my stomach and is easier for me to digest. That being said, it's a fact that if you eat excess calories, your body will store energy as glycogen or fat.

I suffer from RA and hypoactive thyroid. On cold days that the temperature dips lower than -5*, such as yesterday, I have flare ups that make it extremely painful to exercise. I'm 26, so we're not the same age, but I know all too well how autoimmune diseases can affect quality of life. Add me if you'd like some additional…

Mine is open to friends. Feel free to add me as a support buddy.

Wow, what a transformation! You look so fit and strong in your after photo. All your hard work shows. Did you have any problems with loose skin afterwards, or did it tighten up after you lost the weight?
-
Hey! I'm 26 and have been working on losing the 65 lbs I gained last year. I am already down 24 lbs but still have a long way to go. Add me and we can help keep each other motivated.

I have hypothyroid and RA. I didn't know about my thyroid last year and gained about 65 lbs in 4 months. The first doctor I went to give me a really condescending lecture on diet and exercise, although when I started packing on the weight I put myself on a restricted diet of 1350 calories, and I was still gaining. He…

I like mashing it with cinnamon and a little nutmeg, and almond milk. Then I toast some raw pecans to mix in.
-
Wow, it's really noticeable in your face! You look like you're younger in your after photo! Way to go!!
-
It all starts with adopting a positive attitude. Discipline comes from within, so that is where you need to look. Nothing worth having is easy at first.

Congrats!

I've been here since Thanksgiving!

Could it be stress related? Whenever I am under a great deal of stress, my stomach produces a ton of acid which can even cause me to develop ulcers. It really sounds like a health problem you need to discuss with your doctor, because it could be a symptom of something else.
