I am fully vaccinated and so is my husband, so I feel very good about it and with another level of protection around. However, I am, and I will be still careful and watch for new infections/variants. Staying away still from people that don't use common sense and don't have interest in protecting themselves and their…

@kimny72 When will kids be able to get COVID-19 vaccines "American high school students might be able to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by this fall, White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci said at a briefing Friday. But he said data on the safety and efficacy of vaccines for elementary school children likely…

I am fully vaccinated myself and so is my husband, and I do feel that I have a higher level of protection, and less fear. However, I am not totally free of worry and I will not be until we get more people vaccinated, and have more data about the efficacy of the vaccines and their control on the new variants. It is good to…

Considering the new variants roaming around, I (personally) will take these recommendations with a grain of salt. I will have no problem meeting with fully vaccinated people, while keeping still distance (no hugs or kisses unless they are wearing masks). But that is just me; I am too old to take unnecessary chances…

@33gail33 Hopefully this article will help you clarify your question and concern: Delay the Second Covid Vaccine Shot? What Experts Say By John Lauerman and Jason Gale January 24, 2021, 11:43 PM PST Updated on February 22, 2021, 1:29 PM PST…

My husband (81) and I (77) got our two shots of Pfizer already. I wish we knew when a booster against the new variants will be available. My arm is ready... :)

I am never barefoot, except at the beach. I have lots of tile in the house (carpet in the bedrooms only) and my feet hurt if I have to give more than few steps without shoes, and I don't like the feel of any kind of flooring on my feet. I do wear indoor slip-on shoes in the house. I do some yoga and calisthenics in one of…

You can also set a determine number of grams as a serving. For example i serving = 300 grams, and take it from there.

@Theoldguy1 The same here! Got all my yearly screenings, including dental, ENT, and vision, as soon as the facilities started to take appointments again. I am not taking any chances with things that I can control.

I had a covid test in December but it was an oral swab. Glad that they didn't do the deep nasal one. My ENT looks at my sinus every time that I see him, and I don't enjoy the procedure. I am sorry that you are having some side effects. Hope that you feel better soon, but maybe next time ask the tech doing the test if what…

I think that it is wise. We still have a bunch of restrictions with only two doses, and I wouldn't mind getting a third one in six months to really boost my immune system. People under 18 are not allowed to get the vaccine until clinical trials for the younger people prove that the vaccine is safe and effective in that…

Last week I finished cleaning several drawers in my office. Lots of old papers were shredded, and now my folders are more organized and documents are sorted out as well. I have a big cabinet full greetings cards that I get from the places where I send donations, old pictures, and who knows what else is there, that I need…

Moderna designs updated Covid-19 vaccine to combat South Africa coronavirus variant Moderna has designed an updated version of its Covid-19 vaccine to help it combat the South Africa coronavirus variant, the company announced Wednesday. @BMcC9 If you belong to a church or any other organization, you can donate what you don't need or want anymore. You can also reach to your local schools, including tech schools, to find out if they can use the patterns for sewing classes. Some communities have a "neighborhood e-mail center" where people advertise the sale…

I read that younger people has more side effects after the second dose of Moderna, too. The theory is that they have a more robust immune system providing a stronger reaction after such second dose. The theory also speculates that, since older people immune system has been reduced by age, the response to the second jab may…

Sweets and chocolate are things that I was ever interested in eating. But I admit that I am missing :'(, just like I did in 2020, Valentine's dinner with my husband of almost 55 years, at a nice restaurant. I ordered take out at the local restaurant so I don't have to cook tonight, and we may have a glass of wine as well.…

The state of Victoria (Melbourne is the capital) is now under quarantine for five days since Friday, due to an outbreak of COVID in a Holiday Inn quarantine hotel. The Australia Open is being played without spectators. That is the latest information that I got, and I don't know if it changed in the last 24 hours.

I also have clothes that I haven't' worn in a long time ( a couple of them never...), but so far I have been enable to give them up. I think that I may change that approach as the summer comes. They are nice one and I have a boutique in mind that mainly provides clothing for business people but it has been closed for…

BULLL!!!! Merck discontinued the clinical trials because their vaccine didn't have enough efficacy. it was a mot point and a waste of money considering that others in the market are much more efficient.

A word of advise, so just take it or leave it. My husband had his first shot last Saturday and I got it yesterday because I purposely scheduled the appointments few days apart. If one person has a reaction to the shot or discomfort for several days then the other one is free to help and carry on for few days. This may be…

My husband (81 y.o.) got today his first Pfizer shot; second one scheduled for 2/20. So far so good, but let's see how he feels tomorrow :/ I am going next Tuesday.

I like Costco/Kirkland frozen blueberries. I always have them in the freezer, even during the fresh blueberries season because we finish the fresh one quite fast. I also like the frozen mixed berries for a change. I don't eat them frozen, I let them thaw in the fridge and use them on top of ice cream, yogurt or cottage…

Just a quick clarification for anybody that is interested. J and J vaccine uses an adenovirus as a vector to delivery immunological agents to the body, while Pfizer and Moderna use mRNA to do the job. mRNA is very unstable and it needs to be kept at a very cold temp. It seems that Moderna uses a “synthetic” mRNA and a…

Because there were not many older people (above 65) enrolled in the trial so enough data to actually confirm safety and efficacy in that patient population. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/28/europe/germany-astrazeneca-vaccine-coronavirus-grm-intl/index.html

With respect to N95 masks, here is what I read today: "...the CDC isn't currently recommending N95 masks for the general public, partly due to a shortage of the masks for health care workers, and also due to concerns that people will tolerate the masks, which can hinder breathing. "I worry that if we suggest or require…

Don't feel bad and no need to apologize. I lost weight without a scale as well. I only had 14lbs to shed so I was not in a hurry. I only got a kitchen scale after I reached maintenance (11 years ago!) and only because I wanted to keep better track of the macros. I don't bake and I seldom follow recipes in detail, so a…
