I agree. I practice yoga for the exercise part but also for the calming effect that it has on my mind. I never attach any religious believe or meaning to exercise and I don't see any conflict either. On the other hand I am not a practicing or very religious person, so the meditation attached to yoga serves me well.

In before this thread is closed… I learned about this believe a couple of years ago, and it came as a surprise to me too. I have done yoga on and off since my 20s in a very reflective way; I am now 75 years old. I did some readings about this topic, and it seems that very religious (in this case catholic) people believe…

TDEE already counts your exercises calories you don't eat additional calories. MFP doesn't so you do eat the exercise calories.

I don't do all inclusive vacations just like I don't do buffets, and I don't cruise either. On the other hand, I don't agree that going on vacation is an excuse to pig out, and that is the only way to enjoy them. In my book it is OK to try new foods and have occasional treats, without going overboard. I don't weigh or…

Thank you, but I only had about 10 lbs to lose (surgery and a crazy job/travel schedule). It was not that difficult once I put myself together. Kudos to you Ann for being such a trooper even when you went thru hard times <3 .

Why are weights needed on your back while doing the planks? Do you realize that you are adding unnecessary strain on your arms, shoulders, wrists and hand, while should concentrate on your core?

Thank you! and yes, 9 years and counting!

My desert (fruit with yogurt or cottage cheese) is usually half and hour after I am done with dinner. I adjust the amount based on my hunger and/or calories left. I don't eat anything else after that (personal preference), and I don't close my diary either; I never did. If you still feel hungry and have too many calories…

This is exactly how I do it. When my kids were young, they loved this dish on top of pasta or rice. We never had it as a sandwich. I now saute extra vegetables like spinach and arugula with the onions, peppers and sausages. Sometimes I cook small potatoes or sweet potatoes as added starch. @dechowj Don't worry how your…

I do the same.

Since I don't use any fitness tracker or HR monitors, I give myself one calorie per minute. If I lift for 45 minutes or 60 minutes. I will log the time and 45 calories or 60 calories. Strength training doesn't burn too many calories anyway.

No, I don't. I stopped drinking diet sodas about 15 years ago, they didn't agree with me, and I don't like the taste anymore. I occasionally drink sugar free flavored club soda, but not too often. Water is my drink to go, plus two cups of coffee a day. Once in awhile I will have a small glass of wine with dinner. However,…

I have the same problem and that's why the scale and how clothes fit are more important markers to me than the measuring tape.

Saute spinach, arugula, mushrooms and onions in olive oil and add the mix to pasta of your choice or rice. I only use 2oz of dry pasta for my husband and me, and it is plenty and enough. I sometimes use edamame pasta instead of the regular one. I am not a pasta lover so I don't care about the different texture.

I never understood why people has chocolate cravings or why they like chocolate so much.

Most of the time around 25 g. More than that for several days, forces me to stay near a bathroom all day long :# . I seem to be very sensitive to fiber. Getting 60g a day would be a big stinky mess for me. Edited to add that I have been in maintenance for 9 years, my cholesterol is good and so are my fasting glucose and…

Fruit topped with Fage or cottage cheese. If you have the calories sprinkle some pecans or almonds pieces and drizzle with Hershey sugar free chocolate syrup. Sometimes I mix equal part of no sugar added easy churned vanilla ice cream (supermarket brand) with Fage. Homemade, no sugar added, apple sauce topped with Fage (I…

Since I didn't want to have more children (two was enough and going back to school and work was important to me), tubal ligation worked for me. I didn't want to go thru an unwanted pregnancy later in life. I don't have easy pregnancies. I was tired of using and trying different kind of birth control pills, I was also…

No you don't.

A woman after my own <3 . Let's share the robot and teach it how to weight and log the food too.

I don't count so I have no idea. I drink water with all my meals and in between too. I also have two cups of coffee a day, soups for lunch, salads, fruit and vegetables with a good water content, and sometimes green tea. As long as my pee is light colored I know that I am hydrated. I am a very petite person so I don't need…

Don't mention MFP, don't talk about calories, macros or diet. If you refuse to eat something that your sister offers to you, just say "no thank you," and leave at that. Don't offer any other explanation. It may be hard at the beginning but you will get used to and she will eventually do too (hopefully). If your sister…

You think that your BMR of 1226 is "measly?" My BMR is 844, what do I call that :'( ?

I started exercising in a serious and mostly consistent way in my early 30s (karate, kick boxing, strength training, dance, racquetball, tennis...). Before that I used to workout at home watching J. Lalane DVDs (that shows you how old I am), and walking. I am now 75 years old and I continue exercising. I go to the gym four…
