Same here. Was vegetarian for 8 years and just recently started eating meat again, however I make it a point to only eat free range/grassfed/wild game. I still avoid cheese and most dairy, and am selective about the type of fish I'll eat, too. I'm not even sure how good the processed Morningstar, Boca, etc. products are…

Be different and wear a one-piece.

http://www.Freecycle.org Find a local group and join. Ask if anybody has some of the basics you need, such as measuring spoons and cups. And the best part? Everything is F-R-E-E.

And anything by Celine Dion, too.

Are you actually sleeping or just laying in bed? I can quite easily kill 12 hours laying in bed on a rainy Saturday just dozing on and off once I 'officially' wake up around 7:00. "Back then everyone just assumed it was because I worked so much, or because some nights I wasn't allowed more than 2 hours of sleep." You also…

Water can help satiate you if you are feeling hungry. Countless studies by countless numbers of smart medical people have been done that imply there are times when we aren't really hungry, but are thirsty. Personally, if I'm hungry and drink water (or on the rare occasion a diet soda), it helps for just a short time then…

Someone once said about drinking beer that "One is too many and twelve isn't enough." Until recently I was the same with food- I couldn't handle a single serving of potato chips because that handful turned into the entire bag and then I turned into a guilt-ridden, blubbering mess. Some people can handle that handful of…

Spandex: a girl's best- and worst- friend. At 247 lbs I was wearing a size 20 in Lee jeans... with 2% Spandex. I'm just getting into an 18 (at 210 lbs now) in another brand with only 1% Spandex. But like someone else said, I was in denial- I would have probably been in a size 24 in a non-stretch material. But I carry all…

For some of us, counting calories is the only guarantee for success. It's like saying 'Don't worry about whether or not you have enough money in your checking account; if you think you do then just spend freely until you think you've maxed out your debit card.' What could possibly go wrong with that kind of thinking, right?

Hi there Lemonshake! One of my winter favorites is unstuffed pepper soup... not sure if the kids will like it since it has loads of green peppers (which is a great source of Vitamin C), but it's really filling and low calorie. I use Morningstar Crumbles rather than meat but you can use ground turkey or beef. Here's a…

lol that was fun. Aiming to lose the World's Largest Ball of Tape. currently at mid-size microwave

That gave me a good laugh, thanks! I totally understand. Photos can be allies, though... when tempted I just have to look at a pic of me fishing for striper last year. It curbs the desire to eat an entire bag of Doritos lol

Exactly the same for me. Relying on someone for support (for me) is one step away from blaming them when I don't succeed- in other words, using his lack of support as an excuse rather than holding myself accountable. If I'm going to do this right, I have to be solely responsible for myself.

Generally, the immediate satisfaction we get from indulging in junk food is never as strong as the guilt we feel 10 minutes after we eat it. Ask yourself how long and hard you have to exercise to burn off the calories you just consumed. Is it worth it?

Hi Mary, I'm 52 and have found that changing up my foods makes it fun. I like to cook so finding ways to make over calorie-heavy recipes is a fun challenge for me. I strictly weigh portions and ingredients and log everything honestly to keep me on track, too. Challenge yourself in some way (walk more, start lifting, take…

Park farther away from your building entrance. Take stairs instead of the elevator. Walk on your breaks/lunch instead of sitting. There are actual websites devoted to office exercises (Google it) that can be done from your cubicle. For me, the most effective way to be more active is to plan and schedule it into my daily…

Are you drinking too much fluid that's causing you to get up to use the bathroom so often at night? I'm thinking that if you didn't have to get up, you wouldn't find yourself wandering to the fridge. Just one strategy. Or else leave some calories for your night time foraging and log it.

It used to be called "crash dieting," drastically dropping calorie intake for a short period to lose a few pounds fast. Is it sensible? No, because it's not eating realistically. Will it help you look good for a reunion or wedding? Yes, but you'll probably destroy your efforts the same night by eating and drinking all the…

How much weight have you lost to go down 2 shoe sizes?? I've lost 35 lbs since January and am still wearing the same shoes and haven't noticed any difference in roominess. Must be a genetics thing, my feet have always been the skinniest part of me (how sad is that lol). But hey, celebrate, anyway, losing sizes is a great…

I've used the same glass-top digital scale for years and paid less than $20. It doesn't do anything fancy like sync with anything or tell me BMI or other stats, but it is reliable for weight and that's what counts.

Wow, so happy for you! Attack that last 21 lbs with a vengeance!!

Bought a bunch of perennials today for our wilderness area and was able to put them all in the ground by squatting.. I didn't need to kneel down at all. Could not even come close to that last year. Regular cardio and weights has made my legs (heck, my entire body) so much stronger. And like many of you, water is my new…

Normal blood pressure is a HUGE thing! Keep with what you are doing. Patience... the weight will come off. Stay strong, stay committed :)

But you're not alone... there are something like 1 million plus people on MFP doing the same thing :) I understand, though, I'm in this alone, too. But I kind of prefer it that way because if I fail, it's my fault and I'll learn from it. But when I succeed, it's my success, and that is really sweet.

Lol, ditto! I don't even like bacon but if I did I think I'd still want to go on a rampage every time I see it.

Jessica Smith channel (currently doing the Fit In 15 series)... and Fitness Blender (tank top arms workout is great).

And this is what hard work and determination can accomplish. You look marvelous, congratulations!

A new mindset for me this time around is to stop obsessing about what I "can't" have and rejoice in what I can- which is ANYthing. It's not the food that's the problem for me, it's the portion size. But now that I have it firmly fixed in my little ol' brain that there is nothing in the world denied to me, this weight loss…

There's also more that goes into losing weight than just counting calories and exercise... I mean it's a lot of mental preparation and work. It's a daily battle to overcome temptation and we can't wish the weight away (believe me, I've tried). Document EVERYthing you eat- whether you want to or not. Invest in a food scale…

Gave up milk in favor of unsweetened almond or cashew milk, but I do like fat free half and half for my coffee. Gave up the full fat version and find this just as good.
