Added to the shopping list, sounds great.

Have never heard of this... it sounds so weirdly wonderful that I have to make it.

Never underestimate a bowl of cereal (for any meal). A portion of Wheaties, fresh fruit, and unsweetened almond milk is a regular go-to lunch for me.

Drag the drag with you at half time and tell her that learning self-control will serve her far better in the long run than the latest stupid diet she's on.

have made this and calling it 'bread' is being really generous. It's so light and airy that you couldn't possibly make a sandwich out of it because it crumbles apart very easily. It tastes pretty good, but thinking of it as 'bread' really requires you to use your imagination.

Here's a suggestion: buy a bunch of compartmentalized plastic containers with lids and make your own TV Dinners... find lower calorie versions of your favorite foods that can be frozen, and cook them as a team. It's not only educational (you'll have full control over the calories and salt you're portioning out) but could…

Run it through the recipe builder (or determine calories per ingredient and then add them all up) to find total calories for the entire recipe. Then use a food scale and weigh the entire cooked meal (I go by grams) and divide by the number of servings you want to get out of it to determine calories/serving. It's about the…

Not a fan, they all taste too 'chemical' or something to me. I use plain red wine or cider vinegar if I want a 0 calorie dressing.

We're expecting a foot or more overnight in Western PA. I like shoveling snow even though we have a snow blower, and it's a great workout (which means I'll skip weights tomorrow). And I like the total calm of being outside at night and not hearing a thing except the snowfall. I'm going to indulge in a bowl of Captain…

tons of body weight exercises are out there. I love FitnessBlender, too.

Good luck on your surgery, I hope it goes well and you recover fully. I'm also in favor of freezing as many meals as possible now. Portion out as much dry food (cereal, snacks, etc.) now as well. Also put together a detailed shopping list for whoever is shopping so they'll know exactly what to buy if you need it. While…

THIS is the post I needed to read today... I just hit one year with MFP on Jan. 19 and have "only" lost about half (48 lbs) the weight I wanted to lose in one year's time. There was a rough patch over the holidays of not logging in and eating out of control, but thankfully that's behind me. Words to live by.…

Never thought of using tomato puree in an omelet or with eggs, will have to try it. I make a lot of egg white omelets, one of the easiest way to get protein without a lot of calories.

Sam's Club sells a 30 oz. container of PB Fit for $9.98. Blends smoothly just like real peanut butter, tastes really good.
-
Interesting recipe, I can't wait to make it. I've been looking for something different to try this winter.

I make something similar using almost the exact ingredients only I bake it in a casserole dish. Instead of the diced tomatoes I use a can of low sodium tomato soup and about a quarter cup Catalina salad dressing. Came up with this after I had leftover cabbage and ground beef after making the cabbage rolls (we call them…

Kitchen Basics has an unsalted chicken stock, too, that's really good.

Freezing yogurt works really well, too.

Trop50 orange juice is delicious and has only 50 calories in an 8 oz. glass... for me it's well worth the money. You can still drink tea but only use half the amount of honey, or else go with a calorie free sweetener. Drinking anything hot, even hot water with lemon, will make you feel better.

when I do drink coffee I use fat free half and half because I can't drink straight black coffee no matter how I've tried. And I've been drinking a lot more tea with Splenda, which is 0 calories. I also upvote the title of your thread!

I watch my salt intake, too, just because an overload makes me feel like crap. As others have said, you have to read the labels on packaged food. Soups, especially, can be crazy high in salt. Buy low or no sodium tomato sauces and jazz them up with fresh vegetables and herbs to dress pasta. It's pretty easy to make salsa…

Eating is just as much about being mentally prepared as about what you put on your plate. If you struggle to lose weight because you struggle with bingeing/overeating/portion control or whatever you call it, having a cheat day isn't doing yourself any favors. Until you learn how to control your eating, giving yourself…

Yes, one of the reasons I dropped WW about 8 years ago, I went through three different points 'cycles.' This was before smart phone apps, too, so every time they changed their system you had to buy their new Points books and calculators. Counting calories is universal and just makes more sense to me.

Well said!

A trainer once told me that it's pointless to do exercise you hate, even if it pops a lot of calories fast, because eventually you'll stop exercising altogether. He'd seen so many people be all gung-ho and on fire for the first few months and then fizzle out completely... and then gained all their weight back (sadly, I…

All too true for many of us.

Yogurts are generally sour, especially the ones with lower calories. I prefer Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurts with the fruit on the bottom (blueberry, strawberry, peach, cherry- yum!). 80 calories and I like the texture of Greek yogurt since it is thicker. Give it a chance... it can grow on you. Congrats for trying…

I was thinking the same thing! I am in awe of you! I started mid-January at 245, size 20/22 and am now 197 in a size 16. No pics but I like to see the line on my weight loss chart going down, that's a big motivator for me.

I also deconstruct the food and add the items separately, and err on the high calorie side if there are multiple entries.

if it has calories, it goes in the diary... alcohol included
