  • I was really stubborn about trying the Whole30. My sister, who is a PA, said all of her Dr's are recommending it, so she and my mom did it in May. My mom has lost 25 lbs and my sister has lost 15. I finally gave in and am on day 8. I said many of the same things...how can beans be bad for you, this is too strict, etc. I…
  • I am on day 8 of the Whole30, after my mom and my sister successfully completed the Whole30 in may and are still eating this way to date. Mom has lost 25 lbs and sister has lost 15 lbs. I was the stubborn one, but their success has made me decide to give it a try. I recommend reading It Starts with Food. I read it over the…
  • I am on day 8 of my first Whole30 and so far so good. Other than a little abdominal cramping at the beginning (i think almonds give me trouble), I am pretty much craving free and feeling great. I am not logging any of my food during the whole30, but I am weighing myself (i know that's against the rules).

  • mine is open and i am looking for people who try to focus on whole foods for inspiration and ideas!
  • I just looked up LiveFit and it looks pretty cool. Did you follow the eating plan as well, or just use the workouts?
  • Thank you! I am reading up on the information in that SL 5x5 group. It looks fun, but scary at the same time to be using the bar. The possibility of failing freaks me out a little. Do any of these programs incorporate both barbells and dumb bells? just curious...
  • All mine are lululemon, and they all stay up except for the wunder under crop, which are made for yoga, so I never wear those to run. They are expensive but they have lasted for years with no issues. I also got one outfit from fabletics, and the pants stay up but they run small and don't stretch as much as the lululemons.…
  • I will ask my trainer, but I feel bad continuing to ask her if I am not longer going to pay for her services. I do have a collection of my workouts written down, so i could cycle through those for the time being, once I am on my own. For the SL 5X5, do you do the same 5 exercises and just add weight each time? or are there…
  • You probably have tight hip flexors, hamstringss and IT bands if you are having pain in your hips, back and knees. If you sit at your job, you probably have weak hips, I know I did. I have been jogging for 4 months now and have gone from 10 minutes at a time jogging, to an hour now. My best friend is my foam roller. If you…
  • At least have someone determine if you need a regular shoe or a stability shoe. An expert can watch you walk/jog and see if you overpronate. I personally have to wear a stability shoe. I like Asics and Saucony the best, but i have worn brooks and new balance in the past. it's all personal preference. Once I found Asics…
  • I only shampoo 2-3 times per week and I sweat hard at the gym. I don't rinse either, just blow dry my sweaty hair for a couple minutes. My husband thinks that's gross, but my hair doesnt get oily until the 3rd day, plus it's not dry even though i color it.
  • Preferable time, around 9 or 10 am. Actual time, 5 am during the week and 9 am or 10 am on the weekends.
  • We pay $136/month for me, husband and child for Lifetime Fitness. It's expensive, but it's convenient, nice, clean, has free towels, sauna, steam room, two pools, etc. and it's 24 hr, so I can get there at 5 am. Plus I love the training staff. You don't want to know what I pay for a trainer I take it as an investment in my…
  • Some from my list. Some are fun girly choices and some are just songs i like. A few different tempos in there too. I am also very literal and like songs with "Run" in there or some type of inspiration. Woo hoo!!! Robyn: Dancing On My Own, Call Your Girlfriend Beyonce: Run the World (Girls) Rihanna: We Found Love, Diamonds,…
  • OK, cool, I will check on the sugar recommendation. Back in January when I started, I was on a 30% protein, 30% carbs, 40% fat macro set up. I took that through the end of february, when the trainer changed it to what I am on now. I stalled out in February as well. So far I tend to lose great every other month and then I…
  • Thanks british broccoli, my BMR is 1756, so I don't think she has put me in maintenance at 2100 calories. I do see what you are saying though. I am always worried about under reporting calories eaten and over reporting calories burned. I need to ask my trainer next time i see her, but i think her thought process is now…
  • Also, i forgot to mention that I am trying to not look at the scale as progress, but it's such a habit! I will mention that I am wearing a pencil skirt today that I haven't worn since before the baby, which is almost 2 years ago! So i know that I am seeing a drop, just not in pounds at the moment.
  • Thanks Allan, I was hoping you would reply. Right now i am on a 25% protein, 40% carbs, 35% fat macro set up. I sometimes don't hit them perfectly, but it averages out. My diary should be open, so any ideas for protein are always welcome. Also, I haven't been timing any of my food, is that something i should start looking…
  • before 5 am personal training sessions, i either eat an egg on a piece of toast, or a piece of toast with peanut butter, or 1/2 of a green smoothie and save the other half for after. I can't go on an empty stomach because I get dizzy if I do.
  • Losing an average of 1.8 lbs a week is awesome and perfectly within what is deemed the healthy rate of weightloss. I agree with other posters that maybe if you can get a more satisfying meal in, that you won't have the same desire for the munchies. Whenever I get to a place where either I want to snack aimlessly or finish…
  • i am 33, with one 14 month old son. Work full time! Lost 15 since January, but want to lose 30-45 more.
  • I know this is an old thread, but i am looking for more buddies too. I am 33, mom of a 14 month old, lost 15 lbs since January, and want to lose 30-45 more!
  • Female Age 33 5'6" current weight = 209, starting post baby was 225 Calories Per day = 1925, i guess it's TDEE, my trainer set my calories to be the same every day regardless of workout. Took a test to determine my BMR and set it accordingly. BF - ~39% according to tester at gym Workout - 1 hr personal trainer session 2x…
  • If you want to get pregnant in the next two years you have plenty of time to lose 70 lbs! Even if you are lucky and wouldn't have issues, it's just easier for the recovery to be in shape, and it's less weight you have to lose after the fact. I was 190 when I got pregnant, no issues until the very end when my blood pressure…
  • I have had hashimoto's for a decade, but no other autoimmune diseases that i am aware of. It's not a death sentence by any means, just take the pill, keep your tsh, free t3 and free t4 at the right levels, and work harder than normal to lose weight. Some people have no thyroid at all due to cancer and they just take the…
  • If you have the money and your gym offers it, it could be helpful to get a trainer to help push you more. I have a trainer who is kicking my butt, in a good way. I train with her twice a week, and she mixes it up on me. Some days are more heaving traditional lifting, other days are supersets, others are more plyo/crossfit…
  • 1. 1925 2. Yes and No, the 1925 takes into account my activity level (exercise 5 days a week - 2 days with trainer, 3 on my own) 3. 13 lbs since January, want to lose 35-40 more
  • That's awesome, not a success story here, but a question...did you do train for 5K's and 10K's and then decide to go for half marathon, or are you just going big or going home? I started running in January, and could only run 10 minutes at a time, but now as of last week I ran 53 minutes non-stop. I run slow, but still,…
  • For me it's definitely worth it. She gets me to the gym at 5 am and i can't wuss out because I know she is there waiting for me. Along with being more safe, she pushes me to do more than what I would do on my own.
  • Also, with your workouts, especially at the beginning, when intensity isnt as hard, you could be overestimating your workout calories. I tend to shave off a lot from what myfitnesspal says I burned. And if you are using a fitbit or similar, those are way off for calories burned.
