Also, the less you weigh, the less calories you burn just because you aren't carrying that extra weight. The number of calories I burn walking a mile keep shrinking!!!!

Actually, it comes out as carbon dioxide when we exhale.

Have patience; it will come. Give up; it will not.

My favorite chicken dish is chicken salad made with a bit of onion, a bit of garlic, and a bit of celery, and bound together with mashed avocado and served with a wheat roll.

Does reverse dieting mean you now want to gain weight?
-
Usually people logging in more exercise calories than they burn, coupled with logging in less calories than they eat. Such as not logging in that extra helping of fettuccine because they didn't log in 10 minutes of walking their dog.

I find it funny in the feed when people log "cardio, one hour 900 calories". Makes me wonder if they assigned the calories instead of MFP.

I had a PT for six weeks on a special at the Y - three people, one trainer. She was great. I've watched numerous youtube stuff, but it's just not the same as having a real person assessing your strengths and weaknesses and pushing you where you need to be pushed and holding back on pushing where you aren't ready for it…

I forgot to put it on yesterday (not helpful at all!), but today it still seemed to be logging too many steps. But I will do exactly as you suggested! Dunno why I didn't think of that before, as in the old days of spring-loaded pedometers, I tested them all the time. But it's been at least seven years since I wore one of…

First thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything, after you pee, and nekkid. Don't forget to take off that heavy watch.

Yes! I know my stride is much different when I am on a treadmill as opposed to taking a walk on a park trail as opposed to walking my doxie as opposed to (as you said) casually wandering around the grocery store. I think some people are just to tech-y oriented. I say keep it simple!!!

Thanks, but I don't want to calibrate it. I just want it to count my steps.
-
[quote="editorgrrl;3365791Fitbit calculates distance by multiplying your steps by your stride length. If you want that number to be accurate, you can calibrate your stride length: http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/How-do-I-measure-and-adjust-my-stride-length I never bothered, but it'll take trial & error…

Why would I do that? The only reason I got fitbit was to count my steps. I didn't get it to count my stride.
-
But all I want to know is the number of steps I took in a day, whether they were short or long or skipping rope or pushing a grocery cart. I don't want to know about TDEE or how many calories I burned. All I want to know is how many steps I walked. Don't make this so complicated.

sense tues you ganed 5 lbs mor on fri, suggest u eat less yellow mustand and hidden valle buttermilk ranch

I have a FitBit Zip, which I use strictly as a step counter. Does that make a difference? Especially when I'm not entering the distance walked?

I always understate my exercise. If I do 3.4 mph on the treadmill, I log it as 3.0 mph. When a spin class takes up 45 minutes, I log it as 30 minutes because I'm not yet advanced enough to go nearly as energetically as others do. And I still rarely eat back my exercise calories. But that's just me.

Oh, how I wish I had this problem! You're doing fine.

Food weight as well. Takes a while to digest that much food.

Save your calories for dinner. I'm at 1200 a day, and eat about 200 calories each for breakfast and lunch, another 200 calories for snacks, which gives me a whopping 600 calories for dinner. You can do this.

Calories from drinking can better be used on healthy food. Also, it throws your metabolism off because part of the calories expended to keep your body warm and alive are being used to fight off the effects of alcohol. My sister has cancer and has been through three or four rounds of chemo over the past few years, but…

I don't pay attention to what my fitbit says about my calorie count. There's no way it really knows how many calories I burned. However, logging in my food and exercise gives me a more realistic, although still far from perfect, way to know that I am eating less and moving more. I keep it simple. As long as the bathroom…

I don't have a schedule, but I need one! The Y offers various classes that I decide to participate in, but something always gets in the way. Usually, I walk my dog a mile or two a day, get two or three miles on the treadmill, and maybe some on my stationary bike. If I would put the classes on my schedule, maybe it would…

Meant to say she looks older, yikes!

What a great way of putting this in perspective!

I wear it clipped onto my pants at my hip, where I always clipped a "regular" spring-loaded pedometer. Most of them undercounted my steps, so maybe Costco and Walmart really did rack up 5,000 steps and I'm just not used to seeing that many!
-
I'm confused. What does stride have to do with steps? If I walk in baby steps or elephant steps, it's still steps.

I'm pale because I rarely go out in the sun unless it's early morning or late afternoon, and then for less than an hour or so. I look 20 years younger than most other people my age. My younger sister looks 20 years younger than me because she smokes outside all the time. I will take smooth skin over hard wrinkles caused by…

I would love to recreate today tomorrow. However, apparently I don't have as much time as you do to trace my steps when there are a million other things to do tomorrow. Plus I already bought the stuff I wanted.
