There's really no truly accurate way to track calories burned. Underestimate and you'll be fine.
-
Agreed.

Does not exercise burn calories?

Seriously, a sweet potato baked in the oven requires absolutely nothing. Just wrap in it aluminum foil until it's soft. Remove the outer leaves of brussel sprouts and shake them up in plastic bags with olive oil, and then roast them on low - delicious! Same with asparagus. Stir spinach in some bacon grease with finely…

Butter, butter, and more butter.

So were all of jlutz's. I don't know him, but I've read this thread from the beginning and it didn't take long to realize he was pulling our legs!
-
Jane, do you have no sense of humor?
-
People can be so judgmental here, jlutz! Congrats on your wedding!

Depending on your size, walking is pretty low impact and burns an average of 75 calories per mile. So if your average gait is 3 mph, which is 225 calories an hour, you could walk for ten hours for 2,250 calories. That way, even after the 1700 calories for the vodka, you still have 550 for nutrition. I recommend a couple of…

You probably will. Most people do, because your calories no longer have to use their energy to fight off the effects of the smoking. Also, metabolism usually changes for the worse when you quit smoking. Start a serious exercise regimen and stick to it. Anticipate that if you don't, you will gain a lot of weight. Because…

I love my YMCA! No loud music, no obnoxious grunters, nobody singing out loud, nobody talking on the phone while working out. It's not noisy at all. If people all around me were singing and talking on phones and/or loudly to each other, I would discontinue my membership.

Way too soon. Took me nearly six weeks to show a loss.
-
Ewwwww!
-
Exactly

I don't eat my calories back on purpose. Sometimes I do accidentally. I log in my food as I eat and as I'm about to close out, enter my exercise.

Difference between WW and MFP is the money spent on the program.

So you allow yourself only 710 calories of nutrition? Hopefully you are drinking with mixers such as OJ or tomato juice . . .

I had a personal trainer for a few weeks at the Y and she was phenomenal. She had an inherent knowledge of how far to push and when to slow down. She remembered my stats from session to session - yes, maybe she read over them, but she could say, "Remember when you couldn't even do four lunges without holding onto the…

Most people are looking for an easy way to lose weight, and MLMs are making billions . . .
-
Most people don't only have one five-ounce glass of wine in the evening.
-
You're quite welcome, and thanks for thanking me! BTW, I LOVE your avatar!

A teaspoon of sugar is 15 calories. A teaspoon of half-and-half is 20 calories. I'm not in the mood to calculate, but it appears that most of a five-ounce cup of coffee with more than 125 calories would be sugar and cream. Coffee in its purest form has about one calorie a mug.

I have never, and will never, do WW. Because I have known many people in my life who have, and either they (a) don't lose weight or (b) lose weight then gain it all back again. One lady I know is bragging that she's going back to WW for the fifth time. I told her about MFP and she said it wouldn't work for her because she…

Really. 1500 calories? Two or three bottles of wine? Over half a case of beer? Wow.
-
Comparing a twelve-ounce cup of DD coffee with cream and sugar, or ANYTHING from Starbucks, is not the same as a five-ounce glass of wine. White wine has about 25 calories an ounce, so five ounces is actually more than the 12-ounce DD coffee with cream and sugar.
-
Also, besides using the same scales, weigh yourself first thing in the morning without clothes and before eating or drinking anything. The VLCD is likely what caused you to gain the weight back in the first place; not because "life happens".
-
Coffee, even if loaded with cream and sugar, has a LOT less calories than alcohol.
-
When I get to maintenance, I'm strictly going by the scales. If I gain a pound or two, I'll exercise more and eat less until the needle is back where it belongs.
