Age has nothing to do with it.

That's only if you entered your stride. Then it adjusts to that. Don't enter your stride, and you will get accurate results on how many steps you took, whether baby steps, long steps, steps upstairs or downstairs, or steps walking in place in front of the television.

Think of it as temporary. You can lose the weight slower if you prefer. That's what I'm doing. But if you want to lose it fast, you have to suck it in, so to speak.

I love food. Was able to eat anything I wanted and not gain a pound until I quit smoking over 11 years ago. I finally got mad because I couldn't bend over to tie my shoe, was winded walking up ONE flight of stairs, and couldn't stand the sight of me in a mirror. There are lots of good foods that can be done in moderation,…

Then you should lose as long as you are careful about weighing your food. Best of luck!

Why do you ask?
-
It really depends upon how much you eat. If you are eating enough calories to support the calories you are expending while working, then you still have to burn more and/or eat less. It's the same with everyone. When you set up your MFP profile, you need to show that your activity level is high, and it will calculate the…

Just keep eating less than you burn, exercise, and all will be well. Why is this so complicated?
-
Things are more complicated for those with mastectomy bras . . .
-
Give your best guess then multiply it by three. Then eat only one third.

I love my Fitbit Zip. It measures my steps more accurately than any cheap or expensive pedometer I've had in the past, has the best clip ever, and it's amazing that it all shows up online. At first it overestimated terribly, but within a couple of days, it calmed down. Darn!

I know. It's getting really boring here :)

The handles as well as the pedals move on my stationery bike, but it's a cheapie and there is no option resistance. But I like that it's more of a "whole body" workout than the ones I see at the Y with a comfortable cushioned regular sized seat. Mine does have a monitor which gives speed, mileage, and calories burned, but…

You might want to place it somewhere else just to see. The digital scale at the Y has a bad habit of "memorizing" my weight. Once I forgot I had a set of keys in my pocket, so I got off the scale, took them out, waited for the scale to calibrate, and I weighed the exact same thing. A lady about my size got on them and SHE…

I prefer to weigh it cooked and the subtract what I didn't eat to get to net weight. For instance, a nice ribeye steak might weigh eight ounces raw. By the time it's cooked and the fats are burned out, it might be six ounces. By the time there are a couple of bites which have gristle that can't be eaten, that might be…

Every single day. First thing in the morning after you pee and before you eat or drink anything.
-
Only YOU can motivate yourself.
-
MFP will tell you. Concentrate on calories and exercise instead.
-
Just eat less and exercise more. Does it every time.
-
Log onto MFP. Enter your stats. It will calculate how many calories a day to eat. Exercise. A LOT! But most of all, be determined. Determination goes a very long way.
-
My personal advice is don't link any apps with MFP. Log that separately. Electronic devices do not know what you ate, do not know what your stride is, and do not possibly know how many calories you burned. Log in everthing on MFP and as long as you are losing, keep doing what you are doing.

If not eating more than she thinks, how could she possibly gain weight?
-
OP, gaining six pounds in three weeks means about 1,000 calories extra a day (3500 calories x 6 = 21,000 calores ÷ 21 days = 1,000 calories a day. If you skip one meal, you've got this. But if you have already decided you are going to gain weight because you are on vacation and want to eat as much as possible, then you…

Are you using mayonnaise in your tuna and egg wraps? If so, it has a lot of calories. And what are you using for wraps? If it's lettuce, great. If it's a torilla, they can be anywhere from 100 - 200 calories IF it's packed in water. Let's say you use a can of tuna - that's 200 calories. Two tablespoons of mayonnaise - 180…

She said she was burning more than 1200 calories when she said she could not stick to that regimen.
-
Why do vacations = overeating? If you burn more calories than you eat, then you'll lose. You're not working, so there is plenty of time to exercise to work those calories off. Go swimming, take a hike, walk around town, depending upon your vacation destination. I love vacations because I almost always end up losing a…

She was actually saying that what she was hearing was reassuring and NOT judgmental.

Since you aren't sticking to 1200 calories a day, how many are you eating? If you are still logging everything you eat and logging your exercise, you should strive for a deficit. But if you are not logging because you can't stick to 1200 calories, then you need to up it to the 1600 MFP advises, log your exercise, and start…
