  • That's triathlon yardage! Two and 1/4 miles. Are you planning to add in the bike and run for good measure?
  • To serve and protect.
  • @E_Brault ... I think you might want to wear those gym clothes around town all the time (Not wet and sweaty, though) It seems that you are rocking it with the young sales clerks! I know how hard it is to "see" yourself differently, but obviously to others you look young and more vibrant in your training duds. Maybe invest…
  • @djscavone ...I think I will try to "win" a t-shirt with registration....I have never even looked into a 5K. Maybe it will be time this summer?
  • ^ I doubt that will happen! You will put him in awe and strike another victory for the over 50 crowd.
  • ^Bhahaha! Great NSV
  • If you don't have a cooler, insulate with layers of newspaper, use ice packs and keep out of the sun (or away from the car heater if you are still in the chilly north!)
  • I was hoping the Geriatric Pack wasn't from the grandkids too! They are very cute, BTW. (The kids!) Love those dimples.
  • My husband has started attending various water aerobics classes at the Y. He says that the "worst" (read that as "hardest") class is run by a 68 yo former marine. He prefers the one with the little 20 something instructor. Hahaha!
  • We have certainly proven that MFP spans the globe! I live in New York....but not THAT NY....not the one with the C on the end! @Claireraymond003, we all think other places are more exotic or interesting than where we live. How about a challenge? What is one thing you would show or do with a friend if they came to visit…
  • @UncleMac Just be sure you are not in Wal-Mart when it happens!
  • @AnnPT77 Fantastic! A victory anyway you look at it. Congratulations. @luluinca Hope you can get everything aligned and back on track. I suspect we will hear about your weight lifting medals in the future. You ladies are inspiring!
  • My DH is talking retirement now but I am worried about the financial obligations that are crushing us. He has changed positiions many times (every 5 years for most of his professional life) but has always managed to stay within the same retirement system so actually, that part is not so bad. On the other hand...I always…
  • Nothing like volunteering to get you outside yourself. Doing something for others can give you a great feeling. No matter what your passion, you can find a place to volunteer your expertise. Like animals? Go to your local shelter and walk the dogs. Like to sew? Check out your local hospital NICU to see if they need baby…
  • It is remarkable how we all got here and where we have come from. And I am glad to hear about others who have had to reinvent themselves to get where they are now. Surprisingly, I was the most active one in my family....but also put on restrictive diets as a kid because I was overweight for my height. Mom was not Southern,…
  • Yes...the harbinger of spring...the motorcycles are in bloom.
  • It has its problems, that's for sure. But I have to say, I am MUCH better off with it than without it. I know how hard it is to manage IT issues...especially with the usage MFP gets. And they are dealing with international issues, I only have one small rural school to keep running! So, yes, it is frustrating and I hope it…
  • Going up to the mid-30's today but the sun is shing so all is right with the world.... At least the snow is gone for now.
  • I've been waking up to snow and ice every morning too. Blah....I'm sure this is contributing to my general malaise. At least we are supposed to have the sun today, also. The sun makes everything better. I think I may have to migrate to a new area where the sun comes out on a more regular basis.
  • Excellent!! Nice to know another swimmer in the ranks! I try to get a mile in but because of limited pool times, I don't always succeed. This month I have been working on doing the fly without dying....it gives me a good HIIT with alternating backstroke laps. I must look like Shamu having seizures but no one is watching…
  • Ditto...ran into a former teacher who left the district about a year ago. The look on her face when she recognized me was priceless.
  • Sorry, don't live in the area although I will be visiting next week :-) Always notice people with dogs in their profile pic...you can add me for long-distance encouragement if you want. Good luck on your move. Hope you find some local support.

  • Hahaha...saw a lot of that while cruising the mall last weekend. But, remember boys....our generation let their hair grow past the collar. The 'rents thought that was pretty sissy too. But it worked for the Beatles!!!
  • Whoa!!! TWO malls within 5 miles??? My closest is 75 miles from home :-) Good thing I really don't like to shop much! Hope you find something you will love.
  • Happy shopping!
  • How nice to have spring cleanup done! Watched some snow flurries blow through today, intermittent sun so nothing stayed, but won't be having a go at my yard for another month!
  • You can do what my mom always did...wear the comfortable shoes (pants, T-shirt) to the nearest restroom and then change into the "professional look" before entering the door. One reason to carry a large hand-bag :-) I can't tell you how many times we stopped at a gas station on our way somewhere so mom could dress…
  • I agree with volunteerism. There are so many opportunities to use your talents and interests with groups that would love to have you. No point in giving hubby a space to unwind and then sitting alone. If you have new interests, you will have new things to share when he comes up for air. Assess your interests....what is…
  • Bhahahaha!
