  • Buy a light rain jacket and run outside..... Treadmills are too much work to not get anyplace. You said you live in the South; you get just as wet running in July on a clear day as you do in February in the rain.
  • Fast drying is better than waterproof. Waterproof eventually gets wet and then can take days to dry. If your set on waterproof look for gore tex and just like any shoes try on several before buying.
  • I have to 'go' before I can start a run. That means getting up at least an hour before running. I've also planned my long runs so there is a restroom along the route. (A neighborhood with new construction usually has portapotties that I'm not above using).
  • It'll be a day hike, so pack weight should be minimal. Over the years I've done many short weekend backpacking trips. Highest is 13,100 - considerably less then Whitney and a much easier hike.
  • I ran a sub 2 hour half yesterday; a PR by almost 15 minutes! I rewarded myself by ordering a Garmin Instinct today.
  • I currently run with my phone. I have a Fitbit Charge that is horrible unreliable. I’ve been looking at the Garmins for a while and have decided I really want the instinct. I’m waiting to find one on sale. My opinion it looks great and it’s the only one with altimeter and temperature. Not critical but cool information when…
  • Put them on a shoe drier every night - it makes a huge difference.…
  • It’s over my Budget but after looking at options online I’m thinking about a Garmin Instinct That or a Forerunner 35 for half the price. Tried to go look in stores yesterday at Garmin’s- found that they frequently are order only. If in store they are boxed and not available to handle before purchasing. I went to three…
  • It's been an issue for a long time, and with my previous phone. Googling I've found I'm not the only one with this problem with surge and iphone, but I have not found a solution.
  • No doubt I laxed up on the 'diet' to cause the weight loss to stop. As I logged more miles training for my marathon I ate more and stopped recording what I ate. For the 3 weeks between marathon and Jan. 1 I didn't run much and ate lots of 'holiday food' without much discipline. I put pounds back on. It's time to get back…
  • Choose a destination that excites you. I'm not a fan of crowds or big cities and have no interest in the big races like NYC or Marine Core, but lots of people think they are great. Their is a marathon in a small town in Alaska (Cordova) that has always fascinated me and I'm going to run some day. I've never been to Alaska…
