  • Keep it quiet, but I have redirected all that hurrah stuff into my spam folder!!
  • The reason porridge is made up of loads of little "lumpy" bits, is that rolled oats are not processed. The grain kernel with the husk is crushed by a roller and put straight into a packet, without any additives or further processing. The little lumps are caused by the husks, which are high in fibre and vitamins. Rolled…
  • I am the Scottish porridge man and your porridge should not be "lumpy". Using unsweetened almond milk, pour one full cup into a pyrex bowl or similar. Add 4 heaped tablespoons of rolled oats, which should virtually soak into the milk straight away. Cook in microwave for 4 minutes, allow to rest for 2 minutes. Spoon out…
  • I buy my heavy stuff - milk, mineral water, etc. from a local Co-op, a walk away. I use my bike with side panniers for the rest. Obviously, it all depends on how far you are situated from your various food stores. All mine are within easy cycling distance!
  • I knew MFP was global and trying to appeal to all users, but cannibalism!!
  • Use your legs or your bike. Why not burn calories while you shop. It is a Yin Yang kind of thing!
  • They have to make it better. The food database is full of unverified data and I continually find items, that according to MFP, has no sugar, but there is sugar on the labelling. I now treat all MFP data as indicative. If you want it to remain free, then you are going to have to withstand a substantial increase in…
  • Many good ideas out there for weaning off sugar. I burn off a large amount of sugar through regular cardio workouts. I can have the odd piece of dark chocolate, as a treat, when I have burned off enough sugar. It is the hidden sugars you have to watch out for, such as semi skimmed milk (now replaced with almond milk),…
  • Sugar is addictive as nicotine. Why do you think they put it in all that junk food. It is to sell as much of their product as they can. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, 10 years ago, and have weaned myself off sugar completely. I still have a chocolate as an odd treat. I use MFP to count my sugar intake, just like you…
  • Yes, the $475 million purchase was for both MyFitnessPal and Endomondo. They are seeking to corner the market in lifestyle software, as big corporates do. I think they will get a bit of a shock when they try to obtain a monetary return from these purchases.
  • I thought that. Are the many people who do not track their sugar levels, not aware that it is the modern version of nicotine, and it will kill them over time - i.e. diabeties?
  • I agree, some of us have the time, some do not. How about a weekly meal plan using MFP to compile. I have a comprehensive cardio workout programme in Exel and divide the total calorie burn for the week into 7, and input that for the next week. Why not do the same for a using a meal plan.
  • You are on the button. I worked as a surveyor in the Sahara and we each carried 2 x 5 gallon water coolers in our 4 wheel drives. We also had to take salt tablets regularly. Still less salt than is in some processed foods.
  • I use almond milk, and plain porridge with plenty of cinnamon. It takes a bit of time to appreciate the taste and now I use no other additives. I was a banana for breakfast type of guy.
  • I will have a look. I am not a calorie counter, but a sugar counter. I am close to reaching my goal weight range of 70-74 kg. I do a lot of cardio. My diaries are all fully open.
  • That is a lot of protein for a bowl of porridge, but it is nearly double the normal oats. How about the sugar levels, as I am a Type 2 diabetic?
  • Am a recent convert to peanut butter, as a calorie booster. It is really moreish and I am worried about becoming an addicted user.
  • Cor blimey, another night owl.
  • As a Type 2 diabetic, it should be a no,no. But will see if I have enough credits in my calorie burn account and a deficit in my sugar account to have a "treat".
  • I used to drink loads of sugar free squash, but was advised by my dietician, that the chemical sweetners were more harmful than sugar. Sure enough, I started to feel below par, and when I cut out the squash I returned to rude health.
  • That is a great link. Well done for rooting it out and posting it.
  • Do we have our first convert?
  • It is all very well, but what does it mean for our Team UK group, now that we have a new overlord. Naturally, they will want to sell new products to us, but what do we want or need. It would be nice to have a wish list, from each active member of the group, so we can move forward with one voice. Let us hear from some of…
  • I agree with TheMrWobbly, but has UA done it's due diligence properly. From my estimates the active users may be as low as 1-3% of the registered users. The dormant users who just had a look see may never have had their accounts deactivated. The software is certainly not slick, and wearing my business hat, I would never…
  • They have access to all of our names and addresses, and our diary details. Why do you think they give our location by parliamentary ward? We are the asset and they want to make sure we do not walk away, as a group, once a charging structure is brought in. Do you really think America is the land of the free?
  • We all have guilty secrets. Mine's Caipahrinia and peanut butter - not mixed together!! We are not here to be judgemental, but to be open and transparent. I must admit I was once addicted to Daim bars - Sweden's secret weapon, but I eventually saw the error of my ways.
  • My 94 year old mother drinks a glass of hot water first thing in the morning and last thing at night. She can walk nearly as fast as me, and I'm a gym bunny! Must be something in hot hydration that is beneficial. Can someone explain why?
  • Comparing it with other software, MFP has the ability to generate a fantastic on-line support community. That why weightwatchers is so successful. MFP is a virtual community and you can be part of it while sat at home. Not least it is free, so it encourages people to try out it. We are at the early stages of building a…
  • Great stuff. It is the constant reminder to hydrate, which is so important.
  • Are you aware that we do not have a group leader, as the current one has deactivated her account? I believe all newcomers to the group should be welcomed. You are a great Mr Motivator, and would make a great group leader. I would fully support you and liaise with MFP on software improvements, as that is where my…
