I've had one (highly recommend it). It been a while since your post, but there is no *medical*reason you can't lose weight at a reasonable pace. My doctor told me that many of her patients are slightly overweight, most of them struggle to lose weight before surgery and about half of them lose weight afterwards. If they use…

That is not necessarily true - insurance companies vary wildly on their criteria. Most companies automatically deny the first request to force you to do the work to appeal. If you think you would benefit, get a consultation with a surgeon.

Untreated mental illness kills. No diet in the world is going to fix a mood disorder. If you're going to google, use Google Scholar to read actual scientific journals written by actual scientists. Most of the antipsychotics are horrible when it comes to weight gain. No one has ever done good research to look at whether…

I really am trying to understand. If PCOS means lower metabolism, it means you have to reduce the number of calories you can eat. But how does insulin resistance impact CICO?
-
Wow. I apparently have to work on my command of the English language. That's nowhere near what I said, or meant. I'm going to go find the 1300 calorie people to tell me how this can be done.

How does insulin resistance affect weight loss?

I give up. I came here for assistance on three questions 1..Does anyone have tips on a meal plan for a 1300 calorie diet? 2. Hunger control tips? 3. Non-weight bearing exercise that has any measurable calorie burn? You should be ashamed of yourselves for turning it into an excuse to ridicule someone you don't know who has…

I have a DH who is not completely on board with the healthy eating thing. He actually hides the junk food from me. If I looked for it, I would find it, but not having it in front of my face cuts way down on how much of it I eat. He has no strong preference about oreos vs chips ahoy. I don't like chips ahoy, so he buys…

Maybe a stupid question, but what about PCOS makes it hard to lose weight? Lower metabolisms in general?
-
Top of the list: Does anyone have tips on a meal plan for a 1300 calorie diet? Hunger control tips? Non-weight bearing exercise that has any measurable calorie burn? I do actually do work with a personal trainer. We'll have to adjust to reduce weight bearing, but given that I'm supposed to minimize walking around, it's…

50:27:23 on average. I usually end up a little under on fat because I eat more fruit/vegetables than meat. I'm lactose-intolerant but can handle limited amounts of [Greek] yogurt. I'm not adverse to more fat, but have a hard time integrating it.

That particular article is a mishmash of pseudoscientific ideas. I don't know if it's harder to lose weight today. Fewer people were overweight, but WW has been around a long time for a reason. Ask someone over 70 who was overweight how hard it was to lose weight as a young person - they probably won't say it was easy.…

I've had the same frustrations. While I second the food scale suggestion, do not eat back more than 20% of your exercise calories. Either you're miscounting or something weird is going on, but you apparently need more of a deficit than mfp says you do. It sucks, but it is what it is. If your baseline is 1200, don't eat…

I do weigh everything, aside from not tracking over the weekend because I was so frustrated. I've had RMR testing and my thyroid was checked last year. The RMR came up with about 100 calories less than most of the calculators project. I'm 5'5" and only have about 15 lbs to lose, so I'm not working with a lot to start with.…

Yarwell, I will look at the printout. I had a mask for roughly 15 minutes. There wasn't much prep, just come in, pay them and recline quietly. I almost took a nap. They actually did the test twice. I had trouble with the mask - I kept getting air leakage above my nose, so they did it twice. I held it the second time with…

I've taken darn near every class of antidepressants. Wellbutrin was by far the most weight stable. Anxiety isn't my issue, so I can't speak to that. I had to go off it for an unusual adverse reaction. I found that the generic did actually create some anxiety. The generic coating is not quite the same as the brand name XR…

I HAVE been weighing ALL of my food and logging it. I'm not sure why everyone keeps assuming I'm not. I had one day where I was down a pound and a half and then the scale came right back up. It has moved around from day to day, but except the one blip, I'm not losing. I wear a fitbit so my activity counts are accurate. My…

I've been lifting weights for several years, so just incremental gains at this point. I've had no improvement on anything at all. Intense cardio is problematic for me as I have (permanent) tendon dysfunction in both feet. My clothes still don't fit, I'm uncomfortable in my body to say the least and I alternate between…

I just want to scream because it's freaking 12 pounds. People manage to lose 100 with less of a struggle than this has been. I USED the food scale when I was counting with futility. I've done this 3 times (3 weeks at a time) this year. I get so discouraged at that point I just give up. I have to muster the energy to try…

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I'm aware of the principles of weight loss. I'll try with the food scale again, but it's so discouraging. Why is this so hard now? I do appreciate all the encouragement, but I have done all the right things more than once this year. I've truly measured and done an accurate count. I…

Ooh boy. Even in the best shape of my life, I wear a bra size not sold in stores and am well accustomed to bust-fit issues. First, get a real bra fitting at a store like Nordstrom or a specialty lingerie store - NOT Victoria's Secret. If it's the bust, it's more than just a weight loss issue. As you lost weight, how much…

We've had 2 record setting cold winters here, and a tendon injury benched me for several months. Yes, I weigh myself second thing in the morning with no clothes. I know all the tricks - but unless I'm wildly, wildly off on my calorie count, basic thermodynamics says the scale should move, and it's not moving even a .1 of a…
