I still have a particular pair of jeans that I bought when I was 18. I totally love them but they haven't fitted for years. I'm now 41 and had two children and they fit me again for the first time in probably 20 years.

I like this. And totally agree with your point about fat burning and when your body switches to burning more glycogen rather than body fat. I guess the nuance here is that going to bed hungry for me doesn't feel like suffering, it makes me feel good, because it reinforces in my head, that I've not gone over my target TDEE…

I'm slightly taller than you at 5'8, but I'm also eating around 1500kcals a day and walking/running 10,000 steps a day and I'm losing weight at a rate of about 1lb a week. I wish I could make it happen faster, but I can't realistically drop my calorie intake without falling off the wagon.

I guess it's relative and I know I wasn't overweight when I started. I've just never been happy with my figure and I'm always trying to lose fat and gain muscle. I've never been underweight, but it would be nice to think that there is a point at which I'll stop and say that's enough now.....

This is where I have to hold my hands up and say that in reality I'm actually 5 foot 7.5 but in my head, I've been 5 foot 8 for 20 years so I'm sticking with it!

Comedy. That's definitely an easier option than what I'm currently doing! I'm trying to get down to 17% body fat for vain aesthetic reasons (and ill be able to run faster) so based on my not very accurate scales, I've got around 112lbs of lean mass, so if I can lose around 15lbs of fat (not weight) then I should be…

Thank you! I think I'm not alone in feeling like I'm working really hard on my diet and my training and its not making any difference, but it is! Maybe, if I keep going for another 6 months, I'll be able to do the buttons up on my shorts.

I've done a few half and full irons and I always wore a tri specific top and shorts (not an all in one for peeing reasons) for the whole event. Its too difficult to get changed in transition, particularly when you're trying to keep your heart rate steady. Tri specific tops have in built sports bras. I'd be inclined to…

I seriously wouldn't worry about it. I've got an underactive thyroid, and at the point of diagnosis my TSH level was logged as >100. I'm just trying to give you an indication of how far out of the normal range it can go. You're in the normal range and have been repeatedly tested you said, so I think you've got nothing to…

I'm exactly the same - I have my goal outfit hanging on a mannequin next to my full length mirror - its a beautiful Isabel Marant dress and boots that I bought about 10 years ago and hasn't really fitted me since. I can fit in it now, but need to drop another 10lbs to do it justice :) I've got a few other things that are…

Ann is saying a lot of sensible things and I agree with her. The most likely reason why you're not losing weight is that you're eating more calories than you're expending. Buy a scale, knuckle down and measure absolutely everything, log it all accurately and see where you get to in a month.

My 29 inch waist jeans now look like clown trousers!

I changed the settings to show fibre as one of my key nutrients, rather than sodium. I had noticed that I hardly ever get anywhere near my recommended daily amount of fibre. By focussing on getting my fibre up without blowing my carbs/calories meant that I included significantly more plant based foods, like frozen peas,…

Give it a go! If it works without having to log everything then that has to be preferable right?
-
I'd be inclined to get yourself back to tracking calories and into a calorie deficit whilst keeping up with your training. Is there another way?

Hi Missy - feel free to add me as a friend if you like, I haven't got any friends on here so you'd be my first :) I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism around 2 years ago and I take 125mg Levothyroxine every day. I've got to be honest and say that I don't find it impacts my ability to lose weight... I've just started and…

Stick with it lady! It is tough in the current environment, so don't beat yourself up :) I'm using the end of lockdown as a motivation - I want to be back in the outside work feeling more like myself.

Hi, I'm recently returned to MFP 5' 7.5'' SW: 159 (28th December 2020) GW: 123 CW: 149 (30th Jan 2021) So, January has gone fairly well, I've lost 10lbs, 26lbs left to go. I really would like to lose them by June which gives me 4 months, so around 6lbs a month which seems achievable. My feeling is that I'll continue to…

This is a really nice story to read. Its so good to see someone cracking what works for them, particularly after having struggled for so long. Keep it up!

I'm still on the 310xt and I love it although I'd imagine the 910 is better. I don't use it for anything other than run and cycle training (I'm a triathlete) as it's not great in the water. The data you get out of it is superb though.
-
I made a bakewell tart and when I costed the calories and realised it was 900 calories for 1 slice (not even that big) I was totally horrified. Haven't made it since!
-
Well done you! You look fabulous :)
-
It can be a shock when it actually dawns on you that you're bigger than you realised. Don't be disheartened though, because you're not obese and you don't have a huge amount of weight to lose. You could probably get within the healthy band in a matter of months and you'd feel loads better about yourself so chin up!
-
May I ask how long it took for you to lose the initial 60lbs?
-
I don't really know to be honest and I am dubious about the accuracy of fitness apps therefore if you're trying to lose I would log whichever shows you burning the least number of calories add is better to underestimate rather than overestimate calorie burn no?
-
Be 120lbs and do a sub 12 hour ironman. Am currently 156lbs and my best time so far is 13 hours and 15 seconds.

You're an inspiration! Go you :)

That the really important thing is how much I eat in the next 7 months not the next 7 days.
-
Haha. Thanks. Although you wouldn't say that if you saw how slow I am :) IT'S great for weight loss btw, you have to do so much training it's actually hard to eat enough to keep the weight on. I will certainly be going back to it once the baby is a bit older.

My suspicion is that your heart rate monitor is leading you to believe you're burning more calories than you actually are. If you're eating them back, that would explain why you're not losing. I appreciate that everyone is different but I really doubt that the workout you've described would burn 900 kcal. ... I'd guess at…
