I don't know how accurate my FB is, but I know that when I go for a 45 minute walk I'm burning more calories than sitting in my easy chair. I don't know how accurate my scale is either, but it keeps going down. I do know that I can wear clothes that I couldn't wear before and I've moved up two notches on my belt.

I always leave some calories because I also have gone close to the limit but gone to bed thinking I was still under and then awoke to find that MFP says I went over. Now 15 cal on a 1000 cal deficit isn't really a problem, but I hate to see the red. Most days I end with about 300 cals under. Since I'm 6'2 and burn 3000…

All of the above. I found that I was losing a lot quickly at the beginning and I had the same fear. But after the first 10 lbs, it started to go more slowly. Now my fear is losing motivation, so I have to keep my focus on the long term and do the right thing each day.

I have a tendency to do that too. I can't stop myself once I start, or even when having something healthy, I enjoyed it so much, I think I should have another. So I'm trying to slow myself down. I'm also drinking more water with and between meals. When I'm hungry between meals, I try to pay attention to whether it's my…

Eat less, move more and say "abracadabra" before weighing myself.

kramm77 nailed it. There are lots of reasons to go organic; weight loss isn't one of them.

I like to eat first, then go for a brisk early morning walk. And I mean brisk enough to get my heart into the fat burning zone.

Gardening can be really good exercise, if you are doing something vigorous like digging a garden, but if you're kneeling and weeding, probably not so. My yard is very steep so hauling the weeds and debris to the compost area at the end of the yard is like climbing two flights of stairs.

I need to completely abstain from sweets. I know from experience, I can't have one of anything sweet. The advice on cooking your own food is right on, too. Keep it simple if you don't know much about cooking (like me). I stick to a fairly simple diet. I'm trying to keep the sugar low, but still get over my goal due to…

Many times, and I look forward to many more, especially if I keep my weight down. Have you ever met a bear in the woods?

I like to get up and have a walk before my partner wakes up. Also I try to walk during my lunch break. If all else fails, have a long walk after dinner.

One of my big motivations is how my belly hangs over the belt on my backpack when I go hiking in the summer. I'm really looking forward to getting out this summer with a lot less weight to carry. I've posted a picture of me from last summer.

In the jurisdiction where I teach, by law the teachers can only give grades for the defined learning outcomes. You can't mark for something that's not part of the curriculum. So I'd ask the PE teacher where in the state/provincial curriculum it says one of the learning outcomes is keeping your heart rate up.

I just got mine renewed in December. The old weight was 205, so I let it stand, but I knew I was really closer to 215. Now I'm 196!

Me too. My max BMI (24.9) is at 193 lbs, so I knocked about 10 lbs off that and rounded to the nearest 5 to get 185. (Best I've done in the last 20 years is 189).

Studies usually use an equivalent of hundreds of times your intake of 2-3 per week. So they are certainly overblown in your case. Personally, I don't like soda that much, either regular or diet, so it's easy for me to give it a miss.

My partner joined MFP yesterday. She asked me about when I record my food, and I said I try to do it as I go along. Actually, I sometimes record food before I eat it, because seeing the calories add up can motivate me to change my mind. That said, it's 3 pm and I've only got 765 calories left in my day unless I get out for…

I do it first thing each morning. Naked and as empty as possible. There are daily fluctuations, so it's not always down, but I can live with that. Some people like to only weigh every couple of days or once a week so they will always see a change. I like the discipline of weigh, then breakfast, then brisk walk before work,…

Tying shoes no longer requires some kind of side bend yoga, gardening not painful. Heck, anything involving bending down is way easier.

Said "no" to dessert.

It's impossible to always hit the goal. As posted above, going too low can harm your body. Going a little over once in a while is life. Many people have stated it's the total over a longer period that makes the big difference. Every day is a new day. I wake up each morning and try to do the best I can at everything I do.…

You go girl! You're an inspiration to all the young women (and an old man like me who still thinks about getting a Master's degree). Watch for hidden calories, but you may find that you've gained muscle, which makes your weight loss seem slower.

Gotta get to bed early. Don't skimp on sleep. I love to walk in the early morning before work. It's still dark here until 7:30, but I'm looking forward to the longer days and walking in the early light. I usually get to bed by 9:30.

I totally agree. I'm tracking everything, but the reality is that I only need to make two lifestyle changes and stick with them: stay active and cut out afternoon snacks. That cuts 500 calories in and adds 350 calories out on average. When I slack off on the exercise and start to indulge in the snacks, my weight creeps…

Yeah! I love those milestones. I just dropped below 200 myself.

Your weight loss goal is close to mine. I started at 217 in December and I'm aiming for 185. I just hit 194 today, which puts my BMI in the healthy range for the first time in two years. I've made progress before (got to 189 in June 2013) it seems that some kind of external block, like a change of jobs, or even vacation…
