  • I lost about 20 lbs doing this for the same reasons you stated. There was no prep work which meant I always had a meal for lunch (now if I don't have time to prep lunch I'm forced to eat out). It also allowed me to walk during my break instead of wasting time eating. I was able to do this consistently for about 6 months.…
  • That would be way too sensible and easy! Haha, thank you...you're absolutely right. If I'm having sushi, I should just enjoy it fully, right?? Maybe I'll just avoid weighing or logging my weight for a a couple of days. The jump really throws off my weekly average.
  • I can relate completely. It took me 6 months to lose 20 lbs and I gained 15 of those lbs back within two months of my dad's sudden passing. It's just really hard to care about calorie counting or how you look when you're grieving such a huge loss. It's been about 8 months since he passed and I still get those days where I…

  • It would be really great if we could. My husband wants to use the app to track calories and it's very tedious for us both to have to create a new recipe when we're having the same thing.
  • Your chocolate lava cake sounds amazing! Would you mind sharing the recipe?
  • "Better to let it go to waste than to your waist!" I read that quote on one of these posts a while ago and it really made things click for me. I don't feel as guilty about leaving food on my plate anymore. I've always had a problem of continuing to eat even after I'm full just because there is food in front of me so it's…
  • Lame mom goals: I want to maintain my goal weight for a few months before we start thinking about another baby! Want my next pregnancy to be healthy and fit - had a lot of health issues with my first and really didn't get to enjoy it.
  • Some great suggestions here! Just a couple points I'll echo - definitely try out some new cooking methods! I absolutely hate steamed veggies but love anything sauteed or roasted, there's just so much more flavor that comes out! Also, I throw garlic in pretty much everything, I get the large jars of diced garlic and just…
  • Chickpea salad with tomatoes, bell peppers, feta cheese and kalamata olives - SO good!
  • Pasta salad: Pasta, low fat italian dressing, veggies (I like cherry tomatoes, olives and corn in mine) Chickpea salad: Chickpeas, cucumber, tomatoes, bell peppers, feta cheese, kalamata olives, red wine vinegar, lemon juice I also love any type of quinoa salads, I like to load them up with veggies so I can have a bigger…
  • Bump! Hoping there are other Happy Scale users out there

  • I weigh in daily and look forward to the magical whoosh! I always go up like crazy around TOM but lose about 3 lbs right after...it really is magical
  • I already had one and it was ugh so good! Just going to eat 200 cals less for dinner tonight to make up for it :yum: The really tough part is not going back for seconds, especially since the kitchen is so close to my desk!
  • A few of my friends have very picky toddlers but they all LOVE carbs for some reason! Maybe try giving her french fries, sweet potato fries, bread, pasta, etc You could also try a toddler friendly smoothie or try adding sprinkles to yogurt to make it a little fun. Good luck, it must've been so hard hearing about the…
  • You could say something like "I want to make sure I'm eating *enough* to be my healthiest and happiest self." - that frames it in a more positive light than "I don't want to eat too much." Sorry if this has been said before, I didn't read past the first page.

  • I think the chocolate flavors have a very distinct fake taste so I try to avoid those but I LOVE the coconut cashew, cinnamon roll and the vanilla almond crunch! Soooo good!
  • I just received it as a mother's day/birthday gift from my dad (subtle way of telling me I need to lose weight lol) but haven't tried it yet! Have you been using weights or a resistance band? I haven't had a chance to buy them yet and I think that's what's keeping me from starting! Glad it's working for you though!
  • I also skip breakfast now! I used to get so frustrated that I never had enough calories for dinner but I was consuming half of my total calories at work (600) and wouldn't be able to eat like I wanted to at dinner. Now I skip breakfast, have a 200 calorie lunch (if I'm hungry, I'll have more) and eat like a king when I get…
  • The two things that have been working for me have been weighing myself daily (first thing in the morning, after using the toilet) and tracking it on Happy Scale and also getting a fitness tracker. The combination of those two help motivate me to keep at it and serve as a reminder of my progress. I'm not too strict with my…
  • @SnuggleSmacks Thanks for the information, it was very helpful! According to the fitbit app, 98-137 bmp is considered the fat burning zone and I was a bit over 100 for most of the day. My resting hr ranges between 68-78, mostly on the lower end. Is that still something to be concerned about? I have a history of heart…
  • @brianpperkins So basically, I shouldn't put too much weight on the estimate unless I know I've actually done some physical activity - is that right? @mwyvr Ha, I would be more than willing to sell it to ya for $50 on eBay - can't make any calorie burning guarantees though!
  • lol thanks for the tangent, i totally agree! I definitely didn't eat back those calories because I didn't even notice until the next day! I was so surprised that I find it really hard to trust those numbers now - which is why I'm asking
