Ladies, thank you. I've been losing weight for 2 years now, happy today 80lbs but I have 30-40 to go and it stalled. Your posts and links have been very helpful, I feel as though I finally really get it. Thank you! Except one more question  do you count weight lifting for 45-1 hour a calorie burn? When I'm…

Hello 5'9" here :) I too have a desk job and have lost 80lbs, over last 2 years, prior to mfp I lost 20 lbs in a year once I joined mfp, 60 lbs in 1 year. I wish I started sooner. Mfp has set my goal to 1200 to lose 2lbs per week but I see everyone else has a higher limit? 1200 is practically impossible for me, my typical…

Congratulations, amazing success!! Geez, maybe I should actually stick with the daily calories mfp tells me instead of always going over because your results, so quickly are outstanding!!

Thank you! I love Isa and don't have this book.

I've been vegan for over 2 years, I have found vegan blogs, cookbooks and Pinterest very helpful. I've been able to "veganize" all of my old favourites and do not feel deprived. It takes time to figure things out but stick with it, best decision I made. If you ever feel weak, just watch the documentaries out there,…

Hi :) I am 5'9" and am 194lbs. My goal is to lose 2lb per week and being sedentary, mfp assigned me the magic number of 1200 :( I suppose it is a science and if I want to lose that amount per week, then that is the amount of calories. How much weight were you losing every week? Your results are so impressive for 6 months!…

Amazing accomplishment ! I'm curious, are you somewhat active during the day? We have similar stats however I have an office job so I'm sedentary, I have 1200 cal per day which I never accomplish. It's bothering me, I really want to know if this should be my calorie target, your was 1700? That sounds a lot better. Did you…

Thank you for a great, thorough response. I've picked up some great points and you're right, we need to keep it simple and apply what we know to losing weight, be patient and consistent

Congrats, what an achievement in 1 year! Did you eat back your exercise calories, did you have a deficit every day? Was a deficit they key to your success do think? Thanks!

Hi Ladies! I purchased the powerblocks, do you think that you can get just as good of a work out with Dumbbells as barbells? If your form is good, what is the difference? Thx

Way to go Terri! That is amazing - crushed it!

Hello Ladies! Have another question for you. I would like to do more weight lifting in my home gym vs my gym. I go to the gym alone and really feel that I should be going with a friend to have as a spotter when lifting, especially heavy. Until then, I have a home gym and like the option to use either. Now, I need more…

Hi Vismal, love this thread. Question. I am now following ICF 5x5 and want to know if you think that Dumbbells are just as effective as barbells? Also, what do you think of powerblocks? I belong to a gym but would also like to add more weights to my home gym so I can have the option and prefer not to buy a set of barbells…

Bravo!! You have accomplished amazing results, love your post and advice Dr Allie :) soon enough !

Thank you again for all of your advice!! I've taken it seriously, went out and bought new rules of lifting for women and have researched the ICF 5x5 and am starting today. Thanks to all of you, I'm less concerned about the scale and realize that to get the body I want, it's only done by lifting. I'm down 68 lbs in total…

Thank you sooooo much you awesome women! Your advice has been so helpful. Time to lift

Ladies, I need your help because I'm feeling confused. I want to lift and look strong however, I also want to see the scale go down because I'm finally in ONEDERLAND, just, and I'm confused and concerned that if I start lifting will I stall my weight loss or will it in fact still decrease since I still have ( a lot) of fat…

Awesome job ladies! I've finally read them all. QUESTION: what do you input for a calorie burn on mfp when you're lifting?

Hi there. I'm 43 and have lost 68 lbs and still going. First, I never focus or think about my age. Don't let that be a barrier. Track your food accurately, find a form of exercise that you like. I tend to repeat meals often to keep it simple. I still treat myself weekly to something like thai food. I read a lot of success…
