I try not to be too judgemental at the gym, but the dudes who grunt like chimps going to war and drop their weight as hard as possible on the floor do get under my skin.
-
The only way I could see this being a real problem is that if you're actually gagging or physically disgusted by fruits and veggies. I've never heard of a medical condition like that, it sounds more like a maturity problem.
-
I also find that the less weight there is, the longer it seems to take to disappear. It's like the body is fighting harder to hold on to the fat as the reserves dwindle. Just stick with it, imagine how you'll look and feel in a year with the proper diet and logging.

Watch out for fruit juices. You're getting all the fructose with none of the fibers, and much more quickly than snacking on an actual fruit.

Anytime you hear somebody use the words "toxins" in a sales pitch, that should immediately raise a red flag. Its a sign they have no idea what they're talking about and are trying to pressure you into buying snake oil. The word is so overused and misunderstood that it has practically become meaningless.

Any big market or store like Target will have a selection of protein powder. Check the labels to see how many grams of each macro you're getting. A good whey powder will have 25g of protein in a serving and less than 10g combined sugar and fat.
-
Most whey protein powder will give you about 25:4:4 ratio of protein:carb:fat. Helps a lot with boosting protein and is a good post gym snack.

Keep logging for now. Weigh yourself under similar conditions a few days per week. In two more weeks compare to where you were 4 weeks prior and look at how many calories you ate every day (on average.) That should give you enough data to adjust for the next cycle.
-
Why not just do cardio on your "rest days" between lifting? Or do neither. Exercise will help you retain your muscle mass while you're in a calorie deficit, but from what I understand it's not going to accelerate your weight loss.

Imagine you have a couple of bags of dry rice in the cupboards, and a bowl of cooked rice sitting on the counter. Which one are you going to eat? You can't tell the body to ignore the cooked rice, the only way to get rid of the stored food (i.e. the fat) is to deny the body a small amount of readily available energy so it…
-
Weighing before is a good idea, I've found that usually for things like rice and quinoa the ratio of dry food:water is about 1:1, so you can use that to estimate in case you forgot to measure before.
-
That's what I do. And just remember that it's not the end of the world if you want to go out to eat and have to go over your calorie budget for the day. Just so long as you balance it out over the week.

Your body is actually beautifully designed/evolved/whatever for survival. It will hang to every oz of fat it can, and lower your lean mass to the absolute minimum required for you to function. It's amazingly efficient, the problem is that our lifestyle over the past 2000 years changed incredibly fast, it would take…

You don't have to exercise to lose weight, but it's still a good idea. You don't have to be overweight to have the health problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle (Goolge the term "skinnyfat.") Besides, exercise can be fun and makes you feel good. Find the time to do something during the week.
-
So, you know how to lose the pounds, you just struggle with keeping them off. It's just a mental issue, you'll keep going through the cycle until you commit to a lifestyle change.

Kids... stay in school, please.

Well owing to the fact that the employees are not using a scale in the kitchen to measure out how many fries they put in a carton, or how much ketchup they're squeezing onto your burger, you'll have to accept that the nutritional guide is just an average. You can bring your own scale and measure (and get weird stares from…

Think of how a thermostat in your house works: When the temps start to dip beyond a certain threshold, the heat gets turned up. The temp will go up to what you set it as (i.e. your target) but then will continue to go up past the target until it hits another threshold. Now the heat will shut off and the temp will slowly go…

Quinoa makes a great base for salad, especially tuna salad. I like to make it with quinoa, tuna, mustard and cubed/shredded pickles. This is a pretty good salad, you can tip the macro balance by adding more or less of the quinoa and tuna. It's so simple that you can easily build off it (for example, mix in hard boiled eggs…

I had a hard time getting over my addiction to soda as well. I started off by switching to diet, now I just drink plain water for most of my hydro needs. I still drink the occasional diet coke now and again just because I like the bubbles.

Beef jerky is great, it's almost entirely protein. Mixed nuts are good too, they're high in fat so they are quite filling.

I set the calorie goal myself, based on advice that I read on Something Awful forums. They recommend that for moderate weight loss I should eat 10x calories in body weight lbs: 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight (that comes out to 40% protein in my case), and the rest should be a mix of good carbs and fats. But…

Whatever they have on the shelf with the highest protein:carb ratio. They all pretty much taste the same, like whey.
-
Try out your favorite mustard. I put some spicy Dijon on mine and it adds a lot of flavor without excessive salt and sugars.
-
Just curious, what do you use this data for? Do you assign a lower caloric value to fiber carbs?
-
I don't see why the advice for women would be any different from that for men. Lift weights, eat lots of protein, make sure you're getting enough calories every day.
