It is funny how I thought I was the only one to have these odd side effects of weight loss. I think it is funny how sitting too long hurts my tailbone because my butt has shrunk a lot. I guess it is good because it reminds me to keep moving. Haha....

Every journey begins with a single step! I know it sounds dorky, but regardless if you are losing 5 lbs or 200 lbs the basics are still the same. To lose weight you need to take in less calories than you burn with activity. I recommend setting small positive goals that you can use to boost your motivation levels for both…

Are you getting enough water? I know it sounds weird, but many people mistake thirst for hunger. I would at least try drinking a full 8 oz glass to see if that helps. If not, then try brushing your teeth. I know that it sounds weird, but often this will signal to my body that I'm done eating for today. Additionally, it…

I suffer from hasimotos and it does suck. I have to be very regimented with my meds and my diet to keep the weight off. I don't agree with some of the less informed posters on this discussion who seem to take a "stop complaining it isn't a big deal attitude". The thyroid is quite possibly one of the most important organs…

I do deadlifts, goodmornings, hip thrusts and some squats. I have been trying to have two really good leg days a week. I have seen great results adding these exercises into my regular routine. I normally try for 140 grams of protein a day as I am trying to lose weight and prevent the loss from being muscle. Normally to…

I agree with the fact that you can't just lose weight in one spot. However, if you strength train the muscle will provide a nice curvy shape. Oddly enough adding muscle seems to make the thighs look tighter and toned, which visually makes them look better. I recommend goodmornings, deadlifts, hip thrusts, lunges, and…

I share your pain with Hasimotos! It is stupid and not very understood. I do eat breakfast, but I have to wait a full hour after taking my synthroid meds which sucks. I normally try to balance a protein, carb and fat to feel happily full. For example, today I had half a toasted mini bagel with natural peanut butter and a…

If you are new to drinking this much water it is perfectly fine to need to go a lot at first. This should even out within about 10 days as your body gets used to being hydrated. If this issue continues beyond two weeks then it might be time to contact a dr. for advice as going pee too much or too little can be signs of…

Deadlifts, good mornings, and hip thrust are great for the buns and thighs. Most women leave them out because the look difficult, but youtube has some great tutorials for them. I have been doing them for about 2 months and have received great results.

Unfortunately, most American diets are loaded. I think that the daily allowance is to make people aware of how much they are consuming. However, you are correct to try to limit these foods as they can be bad for your health. A quick rule of thumb is that if a fat is solid at room temperature you need to use it in extreme…

I would only count tea if it is caffeine free. I know it sounds weird, but caffeine is a drug and it works as a diuretic (which can dehydrate you because it makes your kidneys expel more water from your body). I feel that the same can be said about any drinks that contain caffeine (coffee, soda even diet) as they can make…

I actually took the time to look at your diary. On the days that you consumed less than 1000 calories you are actually doing yourself more harm than good. It sounds strange, but under consuming calories can actually stall weight loss. I get not going crazy but you should be trying to get closer to your daily goal. You will…

I agree that the estimate of calorie burn sounds really high. I normally do HIIT (high intensity interval training) and don't get anywhere near this. I think that 711 would be a really deadly tabata workout (which is 4 minutes of 20 seconds as hard as possible cardio type exercise and 10 seconds rest for a straight 4 min)…

They do sell mass gainer supplements, which are very calorie dense shakes to help add in more calories. I personally have never needed to gain weight, but if you are having trouble increasing your weight it might be worth the effort. Most of the shakes have 600 or more calories per serving and they are loaded with protein…

Have you thought about swapping out some of the cardio time for strength training time? I firmly believe that with HIIT (high intensity interval training) you can accomplish your normal burn of calories in less than 50 min, and then use the other time for strength training/abs to get a more rounded workout.

Deadlifts are great for the legs and butt if they are done correctly. I agree with most of what was said above. My tips are below: 1) first when starting line your feet under the bar so that the bar is about 1/2 way between your heel and toe with your feet about hips length apart. This will feel odd as it means the bar is…

Hydration and salt will help, but there is no fast cure. If you want to get both at once try G2 from Gatorade as it is low in calorie.

I think it depends on the type of food that contains the carbs. I find that if I eat too much starchy carbs (white potatoes or rice) or less nutritious carbs (basically any carb found in a box) I am extremely hungry all day. If I eat veggies, salads, or even things like sweet potatoes I don't get the same reaction. I…

I took a moment to view your diary to get a better view at what might be going on. Here is my suggestions: 1) drink more water and be consistent about it 2) eat more protein (fish, nuts, seeds, even Greek yogurt has some) I would expect that you should be getting at least about 150 grams a day. MFP is asking you for 200…

Keep a food journal/ diary so that you can spot foods that don't work for you. I found that bananas just don't work for me, and if I eat one I can feel the blood sugar crash as if I ate a candy bar. I don't mean to dis the banana, but some foods won't work for some people and the trick is finding out what is making you…

Well you can substitute if for most pasta based dishes. If you love it a great way to cook it is in the crock pot for about 6 hours after you stab it with a knife a few times. It makes the whole house smell great like sweet corn on the cob and its easy. I too liked it, and my 3 yr old ate it without any complaints as…

awesome! Keep up the good work!

I agree with the other poster to make it more of a lifestyle change. Even simple things like taking the stairs, parking further from the stores when shopping, even wearing high heels can all contribute to getting in better shape. Additionally, track your foods carefully using this program. I know that servicing sizes are…

I agree with this post. If you lose the weight gradually your skin will gradually pull tighter too. Don't get discouraged if you go through "flabby" stages as your body changes due to your weight loss. If you stick with it this will change too with time.

I like both the negatives to train the muscles, but I also test my ability to just hang there for as long as I can hold on. The amount of time has been gradually increasing. I am almost to a full set of pull-ups, and will continue working on it until I can.

deadlifts, hip thrust, squats, lunges and donkey kicks are all great butt exercises.

Are you balancing your food well? I know this sounds weird, but having snacks and meals that contain a balance of fat, protein, fiber, and carbs will keep you full and energized. Like if I'm going to eat a banana or an apple I spread some peanut butter on it. The combination is filling and will last longer than most…

I love to get my sweat on! However, to be polite I wipe everything off as I doubt anyone else wants to experience my sweat!

Take his criticism as his poor attempt to help motivate you, and move past it. You look great and you know how hard you work!

Eat more protein and fiber to stay fuller longer, and drink plenty of water.
