A low fat Cumberland sausage with a slice of thick cut smoked back bacon and a poached egg in a wholemeal wrap with a little tomato ketchup. Full-on comfort food for 310 calories, and if I'm extra hungry I'll double up on the sausage and bacon and it's still only 431. My idea of heaven

I came here from the other thread...

OP I feel your pain. My period completely wipes me out for the first three or four days - it's not lethargy, it's complete exhaustion. Aside from that I also turn into the human bin - I want to eat everything I see! I'm on 1200 cals normally but during my period I'll allow myself to eat at maintenance or even above if I…

Well done on the loss so far, OP. 1600 cals (and even 2000) seems crazy-low for a guy of your build, though - no wonder you're hungry. Have you calculated your BMR or TDEE?

Granted. But they're lined with horsehair and you can't take them off for a month. I wish there was a local restaurant that delivered bacon sandwiches on Saturday mornings....

OP you're massively overthinking this. Go, relax, enjoy yourself, and stop worrying about the content of one solitary meal. You posted about eating less than a third of your daily cals today - to me that kinda seems more unhealthy than ingesting a tiny bit of trans fat on a one-off occasion. You asked in your OP whether…

Don't lose heart, OP. I'm only 5'3" myself and, like you, I don't have a huge amount left to lose, so I know how frustrating it can feel when the scales stop budging. Weight fluctuates naturally - I gained 5lb from nowhere a couple weeks ago because of TOM; it may just be that your weight was higher due to water retention…

It was my birthday last week and my colleague didn't know if I'd prefer a ginger cake or a salted caramel...so she made both. And God bless that woman, they were both incredible. I know this because I had a slice of each, and then just made sure I ate well and worked out enough for the rest of the week to counterbalance…

Are you making sure to tap 'complete entry' at the end of the day? I have the iPhone app and when I tap 'complete' (top right hand corner of the day's diary) I get a five-week weight projection popping up.
-
Yes!!! For me though it doesn't stop the week before, it carries on right through! :o And coupled with that for the first three or four days of my period I'm so exhausted that it feels like I'm walking through treacle. I'm about six weeks into my new healthy lifestyle and only recently had my period, and surprise surpsise…

I'm halfway through A Feast For Crows :)

Yep, the body spray thing - I have allergy-induced asthma so this one really gets me. There's a girl in my gym who wafts around in a cloud of deodorant so thick that I can tell where she is even if I can't see her! I am totally with the not-wanting-to-smell thing but seriously, she must stand in the changing rooms and…

Hi Maria, and welcome! To lose 2lb per week you need to burn 7000 calories more than you eat, so on average a deficit of 1000 per day over the seven days. So, 1000 less than your TDEE gives you a net allowance of 951 cals/day (i.e. you can eat more than this as long as you're burning the cals back off through exercise).…

I aim to eat my BMR of 1236 and net that down to 1000 through exercise (sometimes eat slightly less depending on appetite). Compared with my TDEE this gives me a deficit of around 800 cals a day and so far my weight loss has been pretty consistent at roughly 1.2lb/week. If you're looking to gain, calculate the BMR/TDEE…

My Charge HR was zeroed on the first charge. It did count up a ton of steps that first day that I didn't actually do, though, so I maybe they just take a little time to calibrate themselves?

That made me lol - I think I might make this my new avi ;)

The two previous gyms I've been a member of over the years have had programme design and regular reviews included in the basic fee package (albeit a higher cost than I'm paying now) - maybe I've just been spoiled lol. Having seen your profile pics @Sarauk2sf I think my ultimate aim is now to have a body like yours!!…

Strangely enough he did mention that he sells supplements at a "competitive price"...!! I wasn't really looking for a regular PT, it was just a free intro session offered by the gym when I signed up. I had hoped he'd give me a programme outline to follow as has happened in other gyms I've been at in the past but because…

Thanks guys. A few of you have mentioned mobility exercises - would that be the likes of yoga or stretching? Sorry to sound thick but I'm a complete noob when it comes to all this and would be grateful for any pointers!

Thanks, both of you, that's reassuring :)

Thanks for all the responses folks. I did wonder whether he was just picking up on minor things to frighten me into forking out the £s, but I'm such a novice at all this that I wasn't 100% sure. He did offer a cheaper alternative which was basically online coaching with no face-to-face contact but I don't really see the…

I'm new to this too, but as I understand it, the key is in the deficit between calories in and calories out - that's the 1000 a day that you're talking about. If your BMR is 1925 then you're already running at a deficit of 425 cals by only eating to 1500, so the cardio burn only needs to be 675 in order to meet your 1000 a…

Yep. This!
