Yes, bad idea! Use whatever is set for you. Calories equal energy and you need them. As you loose weight your alloted calories will decrease with weight loss. If you exercise eat back only half or less because mfp seems to be pretty lenient with those. Good luck and you can do it! I've lost 55lbs following this method.

I dont eat back my exercise calories. Maybe this is not the best way but I've lost 45lbs and feel great and am not hungry. I jog/walk 5 miles a day.

I also work midnights. I dont adjust anything. When I get off in the morning I will log my breakfast. When I get up I eat lunch and before my shift for the night I eat dinner. I'm good not eating and just drinking water while I'm at work. Pretty easy for me and when I'm on my days off things are pretty normal.

When you weigh in just recalculate your weight under the goals section. It will automatically recalculate your calories for you as you lose.
