  • What's the approximate calories in an egg roll shell?
  • What section of the grocery store did you find them in?
  • @nickiphillips1: Wow, you're story is very inspiring! Good for you!
  • I think lime juice helps bring out the flavor in fajitas, too.
  • Premake a bunch of baked egg muffins with veggies. Then just pop it in the microwave for a few seconds for a grab n go breakfast.
  • Maybe next time she comes over, meet her at the door, tell her you're going for a walk, and don't take no for an answer. Maybe one positive step of getting some air and sunshine will lead to others. Other than that, you've obviously done a great deal to try to help her. As others have said, you are a wonderful friend!
  • I'd also recommend checking out the post titled "$13.30 for three days of food". It revolves around a student doing a project where she had to eat very cheaply but wanted to eat as healthy as possible. There are tons of ideas from people on that forum. It's under the General Diet and Weight Loss Help section.
  • I would suggest eating as much as possible of the healthiest options you have available for the next week (eggs, chicken legs, potatoes, pasta, rice) and then trying to buy some of the cheap and healthy items that ahamm002 suggested once you're able to shop again. My grocery store keeps a discount/clearance bin in the…
  • I agree. Chicken can be tricky in a crockpot. If it's overdone, I think it tends to taste kind of gritty. I'd limit cooking chicken to about 6 hours on low if possible.
  • @CT0526 I am new to the forum, but wanted to say how sorry I am you have to go through this with your mother. My mother passed away from Alzheimer's 15 years ago. It is hard to let go, but as you said, it's also comforting to know her mind will be at peace again. Sending prayers for you and your family.
  • Sorry for the delayed response, but yes to what dgibson2016 says. I was thinking the same thing. Your kind of work has to take a toll on you mentally. You need to take care of your physical AND mental well-being.
  • My grocery store has a $1 markdown bin in the produce department where you can get some great bargains: 4 or 5 potatoes, 3 or 4 apples, etc. Try checking for that, too. Good luck!
  • Do you have time to take a walk at lunch? Even if you could squeeze out 10 or 15 minutes, I think it would help clear your head, make you feel better, and get some exercise in at the same time. I've dealt with similar issues and really struggle to find the time and motivation to work out, but I know that if I can get in…
  • If I use a bun, I often just use half of it and eat the burger (or whatever) open-face style. Still gives you the taste of the bread but at half the carbs and calories. Hang in there! You're moving in the right direction! :)
  • Well, I PLANNED the meals, but my follow-through wasn't ideal. ;( But I got to spend some quality time with the hubs instead, which is important, too. I will try, try again this weekend. My beautiful behavior today will be to lavish love upon my 16-year-old daughter, who is returning today from a week-long Appalachian…
  • Try going to a class. Chances are there's someone in there like you who's just getting started. Find that other wallflower, say hi, and maybe you'll make a friend/workout buddy!

  • My doctor told me to take one tablet a day for high cholesterol. It's also helpful for joint aches and pains. I take mine as a capsule, so I get the occasional "fish burps", but can't taste it other than that.

  • I think seeing a therapist is a good idea. Losing a parent can be devastating, and talking through your feelings may help unblock some of the mental barriers you are putting up. And as everyone said, take baby steps. Make one positive change, stick with it, add another once the first becomes easier. You can do this! Best…
  • @happysherri: I know exactly what you mean about taxes. It hangs over my head every year. Always happy to get it done - good luck with yours! My beautiful behavior for this weekend: Rededicate myself to healthy eating. I'm going to do meal planning and food prep so I can make better choices next week instead of the bad…
  • @ Carol: I know what you mean about walking the same neighborhood, but I do enjoy it more in the springtime. I love to see who has new plants popping up and all the new flowers starting to bloom. Not sure where you live. I'm in Cincinnati, OH. We've had an unusually mild winter, so everything is popping up early here. I…
  • @trailgirl777 - thank you for the encouragement. I know that once I get started, I'll gain momentum and it'll be easier. My beautiful behavior for tomorrow: Indulge in some overdue me time! :)
  • Wow, love all the positive thinking and behaviors on this site! I'd like to join, but know I need to improve my mindset and my behaviors. My beautiful behavior today will be to help my daughter pack for an 8-day Appalachian Trail hike. Spending time with her is always worthwhile and makes me happy. :)
  • I agree with both replies. I've done WW in the past, and it has always helped me lose weight when I follow the program. However, they keep changing the program every year and making you buy all the new "stuff" you need to track it, on top of their very expensive weekly/monthly fees. I love the program, but feel it isn't…
  • I'm no expert, but I have seen miscellaneous posts about people doing low-carb/keto diets who sometimes lose hair. Also, I've been told by my dermatologist that a traumatic life event can cause hair loss about 4-5 months after the "trauma" occurs. I had it happen twice, after childbirth and after the death of my father. It…

  • I went to the Y for several years. My neighbor talked me into joining. I found it to be a great place. They offered a good variety of classes - zumba, dance fitness, yoga, cardio, pilates, free weights and weight machines. I found most people there to be very welcoming. I just tried to stay closer to the back of the class…
  • I wish I could munch on a bag of carrots all day instead of celery - that would work for me! Too many carbs/too much sugar, though. :(
  • Hello! I've been trying (but not hard enough) to get back on the wagon and truly make some healthy changes in my life. I love that only a few people are posting on this site. Some posts seem to get out of control so quickly with the number of people. I'd like to join your group and try to post daily for accountability and…
  • I tend to go with either oatmeal, eggs with whole-grain toast, or a smoothie (you can put in chia or hemp seeds, some spinach leaves, to up the nutritional value).
  • First of all, thank you for your service. Second, great job on committing yourself to a healthy lifestyle. Your children and future grandchildren will thank you. Good luck!
