  • I have done everything from administrative assistant to child care to organizing, the latter two which I do now. My passion is writing. A neglected passion lately. Plus I read. Me in a library or bookstore is like an alcoholic in a bar or liquor store.
  • Then we will be starting the same day! I hope you are feeling better...
  • I have a failry dull family. My mom is 78 and has taken a new lease on life in a retirement village. I have one sister (50) who realized today that her precious reason for living will be 18 in 4 short years. I am 53 and trying to convince myself that 53 is fabulous when it is not as fabulous as 23. I have a brother in law…
  • I have no idea why Kitten showed up like that. Odd. Very odd. You would think I was talking about lesbians in a derogatory manner, which could be the only reason to switch out that word.
  • She was wonderful. She did a lot to promote awareness of Type 1 diabetes. Her health was sadly on the wane for the past couple of years and she lost almost all her vision. I watch her on MTM and the Dick Van *kitten* Show often. She really could turn the world on with her smile.
  • I will be interested to hear the results BBee. how long are you supposed to do it for?.
  • B3achy, I have been thinking the same. I do want to see if I can eliminate some issues and will see if it helps. I imagine I will only do one round and not more. I will see if any food is irritating me. If one is I will adapt to that, if not I will revert to what has worked in the past and hope for the best. Thanks for…
  • I had a wretched cold most of Christmas week. I am still suffering from intermittent coughing. Seems to be a lot of bugs going around.
  • BBee, I read a lot about this one in The Telegraph and Daily Mail. It seems to work for a lot of people. I will be interested to see how you do.
  • No. I am as hungry today as I was as a teenager, perhaps more so. Sadly, my metabolism is not on the same youth kick as my appetite.
  • The link doesn't work. However I have heard about this idea. i don't know. I tend to feel better if I move more and I gain it back faster when I don't move much so...
  • Looks like it is coming along nicely. A lot of work. Should keep you out of mischief for a while.
  • Beebee, Farback and MadDog, thanks also for your input. It's good to not be alone in this.
  • Yes, Uncle Mac, thank you. It is worth a try. I know it's supposed to work but, really, does it have to be so g-d hard? So hard to lose, so easy to regain. But I know you are right and will adopt your advice and hope for the best. I was, of course, secretly hoping for something easy. Some day...
  • I used to be quite active but have had a whole lot of stuff going on and faced the unhappy consequences of regaining almost every pound. I would not mind seeing some advice on relapsing and restarting as I am having an awful time of it.
  • It certainly gives hope to the libido-challenged prei-menopausal. Perhaps this too shall pass! LOL
  • HAhahaha. A good laugh in each. I do wish I had a minder slapping food out of my hands!
  • So I have moved mom to her active adult community (We daren't call it retirement community lest we make her sound "old") and despite a few bumps in the road it went well and she is very pleased. My streak lapsed but I am going to "start over" because I gained a big chunk of weight back and have careened out of control. Why…
  • I have been absent for a while. I am so sorry that your husband is dealing with such serious health issues. I hope that the doctors can sort it all out and create a plan that brings relief and improved health.
  • So many goals here, too. My living situation is about to change which should actually help. Moving in with my sister and her Max Trainer, which doesn't get used enough according to her husband. Ha. Anyway, when I do move in in early June we are going to get back on our "two sisters together" diet and exercise plan which…
  • So many of us! We are 50+. hear us roar! I am starting to think that the over 50 crowd is out there kicking serious butt! Have been visiting 55+ communities with mom and let me tell you, some of these well over 55's are rocking! They are playing games, going to club meetings, taking trips, danicing, going to parties and…
  • It's just so awesomely likable. But some days I can't even get the like button or comments to work when I want to applaud one of you on the newsfeed. It would be good if this site loaded a but better. I wonder if those who pay for this site experience the same difficulties.
  • We may not be 20 but we are still here. We are 50+ hear us roar! I have been spending the last few weeks looking at active adult communities with my mother who at 77 has decided she needs a lifestyle change. Let me tell you, I have met quite a few residents and they are not sitting home drinking tea and waiting for their…
  • @d_thomas02 Didn't hear that one but it's a good one. Guess I better get in shape if I am going to get chased through the woods or something.
  • It can be hard to lose 2+ pounds week for 8 weeks straight. Having said that, you are young and could probably come quite close. I am sure your husband will see a difference even if you only lost a few pounds. Good luck!
  • @chamblisk Thanks. You're right. Usually if I wait long enough the urge will go away. But sometimes I do not wait! However, I am starting t suck it up again and get back in the groove. Thank you for the sound advice. There is in my house right now some Lorna Doones which I love. I will apply your strategy and see.…
  • There is not an emotion that doesn't make me want to eat. Happy, sad, bored, it doesn't matter. Loneliness is a tough one. Sounds like you have a bad case of empty nest syndrome as well. I don't know what your daily schedule is but I found that during times of depression it helped immeasurably to do some volunteer work. It…
  • It's a wonderful article. Congratulations on your major accomplishment. Your trainer sounds like a great guy as well as a superb trainer.
  • We often confuse taking care of ourselves with being selfish. That is the problem. It is actually selfish NOT to take care of yourself. I went to Catholic school. I had nuns. All I can say was it took years to learn what being slefish is and is not after that.
  • I am totally in a downward spiral. All I want to do today is NOT eat stuff I know I shouldn't. Completely off the wagon and feeling most desolate about it but can't seem to get back on the wagon and stay there. So we try again.
