Great thread. I'm 5' 3.5" (gotta get that last half inch in!) SW 168 CW 143 GW 135 After I hit my goal weight I plan to do a slight recomp - I don't know yet what that is going to look like exactly. I still have decent muscle tone (yoga and weights) so I might take it easy for a while. ' At the end of the day, I am looking…

I go to classes. I want to out punch and out dance my peers. Having people around me is a great motivator for me. On the treadmill I mix it up by doing intervals - 2 song warm up, 1 song low intensity, .5 song high intensity, 1.5 song li, 1 song hi, ect. I hate being bored. If I'm listening to a book on tape, I will set my…

5'3" started this journey at 168. Currently 143. My current goal is 135. Once there, I'm going to take a look at bulking with another cut. I may have to get down to 125-130 first. I'll have to see where I'm at! I'm not religious about logging, but I need to be.... I'd love to look at others' logs. Good luck all!

Some people can eat snacks and be fine. Others can't. If I start snacking, I have trouble stopping. So I've worked on cutting most snacks out of my diet. If I'm bored, I will drink water (I also mix ice tea (1/4 ice tea, 3/4 water) because I'm likely to start snacking if I don't! Also, making sure that I eat filling meals…

Log, log, log! Find what works for you. I have triggers (ummm, Oreos. Can't just have 1. I have to have 6...) and I avoid those things. Find your triggers and don't eat them! Eat to your calorie amount with a 1 - 1.5 calorie reduction. Oh. And if you do log don't eat back your calories spent. I've seen people put doing…

Love it. I've done a transformer and a kick starter. if you have read about it - read before responding! Grrrrrr. :) Lots of people take the loss of 1 or 2 months on the transformer knowing that they are loosing weight in the long run. Most people lose weight even if they don't meet their goal. I am highly motivated by…

I am low carb (under 100 net most days.... but not today!) and I often have a slice of whole wheat bread for breakfast with cream cheese. I'm fine with it. However if I start my day with a donut (ahem, I did today!) or croissant, muffin, etc and so forth, I find that my days only go downhill from there. Each person has to…

Salad, salad, salad. Honestly, a salad with meat, greens and 1 Tbsp of dressing is doing to fill you up differently than a couple slices of pizza. Change 1 meal a day if you are looking to ease into it. And log everything. No matter what. 3'skittles? Log them. Good luck

:) people are ridiculous. It amazes me how we have survived! Good answers on the weight watchers question. I love the idea of eating more fruits and veggies, but it doesn't work for me. I'm too type a and need to measure and recorded everything. That's just me though. I love weight watchers and love their magazine!

Set you rules: absolutely no eating anything you didn't bring, or will you allow yourself to eat half a cookie every day? Are you going to bring every meal or go out to eat for lunch? If you set your plan/ rules, you will might have a better chance to keep going! Good luck

To have enough energy to play with my kid at the end of the day. To not get diabetes (this isn't a sure thing so I am going to work on my end (food, exercise, weight) and be OK if my body decides not to get on board). To put myself first.

I'm eating my low calorie lunch: 2 oz spinach, 4 oz of chicken, and 1 tsp lemon juice. Next time, I will double the spinach because eating it cooked shrunk it so much! (duh - but tell that to my brain in the morning....). Breakfast was 1 slice whole grain toast with 2 Tbs cream cheese and a latte. snack is yogurt greek…

The answer to this is easy and pretty interesting. It's the reason the "share" and "like" buttons are popular. It's the same reason why fad diets (or any product, really) take off through word of mouth and anecdotes. Why some people more than others tend to be drawn into a cult mentality. The answer is: because we're…

I tsp jam. Any fresh fruit you like. Nuts. Salted sunflower seeds - sounds weird but it really is yummy!

I'm good at going for a few days and then stopping. I signed up for a dietbet to keep my competitive spirit up. I enjoy treats occasionally because I can't do it daily because I will then keep eating. I am currently trying to make sure I pre-log everything, and have my breakfast and lunch prepared and ready to go ahead of…

I eat cereal for my dessert.... just saying!

Walking is a gateway drug! You start walking and see the benefits - for me increased mood, general outlook on life, wow- I can eat a little more! - and bam! You're doing zumba at home, you're trying the "power abs" in home walk someone showed on YouTube. Then you see all the thoughts on strength training and you borrow a…

Pre diabetes here. I am really here to lose weight - we'll see what I do once I get to maintence.

What makes you binge? For me, it's not eating enough calories. I tried 1200 for 1.5 months and that led to me binging! Also- there are some things I just can't eat at this time - biscuits, pancakes, naan, cake - because it will trigger a binge. It sounds like you needed the chocolate and should also check to see That you…

I couldn't read and not post. Please talk to your doctor. You should be able to call the nurse line right now- early on a Sunday! - to discuss your plans. Depression is an illness - not a mind over matter issue. You and your doctor should be putting together the right plan for you. Good luck with everything.

I'm on Atkins right now. How much fat are you eating? I'm at 60% or so of fat and feel better at that rate. If you're just starting calorie restriction - and Atkins - give yourself a break. Also, check your TDEE. 1200 wasn't reasonable for me so I upped my calorie intake to 14-15 and am still losing weight at the same…

Breathe. Eat more. Eat more vegetables (they're low calorie and will fill you up!). Easy ones are greens that cook cook down - raw it looks like a lot but add lemon juice, salt and fresh chopped garlic and saute and you're in heaven! Have a little bowl of icebreaker each day - or whatever your poison is! Mine is ice cream…

You have some good responses. My diary is open and you can see what I eat. I have found that I have NO willpower to do the right thing - a tiny slice of cake turns into a huge one, a serving of chips turns into the bag.... I work with what works for me. If you are like the majority of us, you will have to spend some time…

Nice article. I agree with everything - even though I eat low carb, have breakfast every morning and do cardio (and lift weights!). There is NO best way - there's the best way for you!

We're all at a different point in the weight loss journey. When she really wants to lose weight she will do what she needs to. (It sounds harsh, I know. But the truth is that not everyone is ready to lose weight.)

+1 I definitely will not be posting help wanted threads on the main forums here! I hate the feel of this thread that if you don't do it my way, you must have "misconceptions". I'm losing weight, you're losing weight. It's all good. Eat your whole grains, peeps, fruit, no fruit, meat, vegan, whatever works for you! I may…

I break it down into 5-10 pound increments. That may work for you. Weighing daily motivates me - it pulls a lot of people down so you have to figure out what works for you. Can you pull someone into your weight loss journey with you? Start a blog? Take before and after pics? Enjoy each day - watch the sunrise, enjoy…

You know, on this topic, I am constantly amazed by people who think their way is the ONLY RIGHT WAY - IIFYM, atkins, paleo, clean eating, the zone.... I think we are all so sure of what works for us that we forget that others may need different things. I have nothing but respect for people who can practice moderation and…

You know your problem. That is the first step. Now, either stop obsessing or stop obsessing and weigh weekly or monthly! If it's any help, I have the opposite problem- when I get to a new low weight I sabotage myself because wow - look what I can do! I can lose weight... And then eat.... For me, I make a promise to myself…
