So what I do is drain the noodles from the water (which is what smells), and then rinse them and then simmer along with whatever they will be served with for at least a couple minutes. Then they take on the flavour of whatever they simmer with :)

If the keto flu hits then drink more water, take in more salt (via broth) and up the fat!! Sleeping the day away or just keeping the status quo won't help it pass any faster. It will suck but it will go away! Also ppl will question the &@$! Out of you and what you eat bc they won't take a try at reading actual scientific…

oh my yes!! Your brain needs carbs the same way my liver needs a job so I still enjoy a drink every now and again. *eyeroll* The part that makes me uber exasperated is when you give a list of resources to read and suddenly the person who had all the time in the world to be "Captain Carb" is too busy or illiterate to look…

My fave snack or go-to if I feel like I might want a dessert but not quite is: - tiny pinch o stevia - 4 tbsp cream cheese - 2 tbsp peanut butter (the only thing I care about in this snack is that the cream cheese ratio to peanut butter is 2:1) easy to make, nearly no prep and I can eat it for days!
-
oh my yes!! Do NOT just eat them or toss them at food straight from the pkg; rinse the heck out of them (and I prefer to let them simmer with sauce a bit to really take on some flavour)
-
Ha!! Yes! I find that people cannot or more likely do not want to hear that your overeat bc your body/hormones are fattening you up rather than your overeating making you fat. That's awesome though; congrats and many more good days to come!

On the main area of the group there is an announcements area- click on the title of the announcement (August 3-8 weigh in) and we can all leave comments there to post our progress :)
-
Hi All, the 1st weekly weigh in has been set up under the announcements (I will leave it open for the week and close it next week when I create another one) Have a great day!

Oh my goodness YES!!! Unfortunately at late mine has had more spikes than crashes (which would be excellent for stocks, but bad for my waistline!)

Not sure where you're from but if you have any connections to farmers or hutterites (not quite Amish- at least around the Canadian Prairies) , you can usually get really great quality meat at a decent price if you buy an entire side, 1/2 or 1/4 of an animal. And if you and someone else else buy the meat together then you…

I have found (at least for me) to follow your gut :) Pre Keto I would keep eating even when I wasn't hungry bc my mind would say, "oh it's _____ o'clock so you have to eat." or "you're feeling ______ so you should probably eat" With keto I find if I do eat when I'm not hungry I become uncomfortable quickly and any…

I drink a bit of both everyday! Heavy cream for my coffee and almond milk for everything else (except baking)

ooh I LOVE bulletproof coffee! <-this! I love a good cup in the morning and it keeps me going until noon
-
Apple slices with a bit of peanut butter- I could eat the heck out of this all day long!

what kind of recipes are you after? Dessert? Snack? Sauce? Chicken? Slow-cooker?
-
Totally agree with the above- also one of the often unmentioned pitfalls of these plans is a lot of people don't know what to do after/how to maintain once they've achieved the goal. For instance a friend of ours followed the "Ideal Protein" diet, lost a ton of weight but once he had achieved his target his options were…

I buy those mega tubs from costco too- no issues for me. (I've also bought the super-fancy hoighty-toighty ultra premium coconut oil- newbie mistake, and can tell the difference between the two) But the difference isn't so great that the costco stuff doesn't compare. Cooks well, keeps, tastes great; that combined with…

Perhaps it's not a cool thing to admit but something I like about Keto is the schadenfreude I experience when I happily eat full fat (bacon, cheese, meats oh my!) while I watch my my co-workers grudgingly eating high carb/low fat nastiness (dry bean salads, low fat cheese and what not) because it's "so much healthier"...…

Here is some of what I teach my baking classes about coconut flour: - keep it in he fridge or freezer as it will spoil faster than regular flour (it pulls moisture out of the air as well as from other ingredients it gets mixed with) - substituting coconut flour from regular flour is never a one to one ratio. If a recipe…

fave thing= melting shredded cheddar cheese into little crackers :)

My aunt when through chemo and radiation and found the same thing-her sweet tooth got serious! She now carries snacks everywhere, most of which are high protein/fat and a couple sweet ones just to help with cravings (Nuts, beef jerky, and a small handful of dried fruit) She also keeps hard boiled eggs in her fridge for a…

The closest thing to removing the smell I've found is letting it sit overnight with soapy water + a couple of tbsp of vinegar. Then rinse it out, wash it, repeat the overnight soak of soapy vinegar water, wash it out the next day and let it dry out.

My current fave super food is shrimp- good in a salad, with a small slice of polenta, wrapped in bacon and takes other flavours on nicely :) 100g boasts 70 cal, 0.4 g fat, 1 carb and 15 g protein. Yay shrimp!
