So I tried to get a big fat juicy burger patty for lunch, but I was meeting a friend who wasn't planning to eat so I was trying to find something convenient for her. I ended up stopping at Wendy's on the way to meet her at Starbucks. :P So I ate the patties from a "Double stack" only, and bought an Ethos water bottle from…

Okay, I'm starting today. Tossing my lunch, tossing the leftovers if no one else eats them. I already had coffee with MCT, vitamins, and bouillon broth today, but I'll be cutting that all out as of this moment! So my starting weight is 142.8 My body fat percentage is unknown - self-estimate of 25%, husband says closer to…

Aw I'd be sad if you disappear! We understand what you're going through, at least in so far as stress and diet and resistant family members, even if not the dry eyes. Don't go away! We care! We care a LOT! (hugs)

I overate last night in an attempt to avoid wasting leftovers. Amazing what I can talk myself into. My belly was so uncomfortable after, I may have to just accept that I'm going to be throwing out food this weekend. It's kind of an NSV that this was WAY less than I'd eat in an evening before I was low carb, and I'd still…

One of these days I'm going to re-typeset Fat of the Land so we can read it more easily! I'm so annoyed by eating this week. I was going to add butter back in on Tuesday but now I'm thinking of shifting to the ground beef diet. I mentioned it in passing to my husband last night and he didn't do his usual balk. Either he's…

I have a standing desk now, and there are some activities for which it helps to be sitting... like sitting allows me to use more of my body's energy to concentrate. I saw treadmill desk tutorials that suggest standing for a while first to get used to typing and mousing that way. I'm sure for certain things (like photo…

Yeah I was kinda thinking of Esmee with this conversation. Ugh, so tempted. If I didn't cook for two other Keto'ers (and have a fridge full of batched meals), I'd be all over it.

Oh man I wish I'd been paying more attention to the group threads when this was in planning. I think if I hadn't already had MCT in my coffee and deviled eggs, I'd be tempted to go out and get a burger patty for lunch. My husband would think I've lost it (again). But I'm in the middle of a dairy-free experiment and don't…

Yesterday I had crazy boredom hunger, and a super short temper. I wanted something with chocolate, something with cream, something hot (even though it was over 60ºF in the evening!). I had a pickle and macadamia nuts and some water. Somehow, I survived!

This is such good news, it's my favorite update ever! I really think artificial sweeteners do us NO favors. The mental wean is something I personally just do NOT agree with. Rip that band-aid off, I say. Push through the withdrawal and be done with it! I am never reaching my goals when I'm adding 'sweets' back into the…

Body is throwing me for a loop right now, and being mindful is suddenly very difficult. For two days now, I've felt that "time to use the restroom" feeling, and spent a lot of time sitting until my legs went numb, and nothing. So I loaded up on fats trying to get things all slip-n-slidey, and still nothing. Going to try…

Very happy that I ate exactly the portion I served myself of dinner last night, and despite how delicious it was (and how my husband and my mom went back for seconds) I stuck to just what I had, listened to my stomach, and recognized (and obeyed) that I was satiated. I have definitely started to notice that my first…

This morning I overslept by more than an hour. I could have rushed my morning and been stressed (and would have been late to work anyway), but I decided to just have a calm morning and accept my delay. I ate a full breakfast (I was going to have a black coffee but realized I truly was hungry), drank my coffee, went outside…

Happy to say that, on the way back to the office from an aggravating lunch, I was tempted to get back to the office and load up on chocolate. Despite not being happy at the service of the restaurant, though, my stomach was full. So I came back and had a black coffee, and refilled my water bottle. Trying to listen to my…

In 2010 I lost 25 pounds eating around 120g total carbs per day (15 g total sugar). For various excuses, I fell off and couldn't get myself back into it for years. When I came back in Feb 2015 I went for Keto levels and found it FAR easier to stick with, though the weight loss has been slower. I'm obviously older, and I…

To the "as soon as you stop that diet you'll gain the weight back" argument, I say "That's true of any DIET. That's why this is a new lifestyle for me."

Dave Asprey's Bulletproof Radio podcast has a lot of mindfulness tips.. not sure if there are specifically dedicated episodes, but I'm sure there's some kind of resource for it on his site. As of this morning I'm up .8 lbs for February. Really looking forward to my Dairy Free experiment. Tonight as a fond farewell to…

Hey I am definitely a cheese addict, too. But it would be silly not to try just so I *know* it's not a problem and I can totally go back to eating dangerous amounts of cheese. ;)

Okay I mapped out the first two weeks of March, food-wise, and did all my grocery shopping on the way home from work today. *dusts hands off* Of course then my husband told me he doesn't consider ice cream and waffles to be a real dinner. :P So we will pick him up chicken nuggets so he can have chicken and waffles a week…

Feeling much better, thanks! I have tried this several times but never when I was worried about other people (mom and husband) eating along with me. I have a menu for the next two weeks all planned out so I'm less likely to stray, and if my husband doesn't like it he can eat something else! No idea if mom is joining me or…

@baconslave I don't think I've ever seen a photo of you before! You look great! You certainly don't look like someone who is having such a struggle with your health. <3 I wasn't feeling well yesterday. It started with a headache and muscle soreness and I thought it was because I woke up so late I had to skip my shower…

We get Farmer's Cow but I think it's local, don't know if it makes it all the way out west.

My buttercano liquid lunch has been serving me well for the whole two days I've been trying to get back on track. This morning I was up early again and tried to make this inside-out cheese/egg taco/omelette thing I saw on Facebook yesterday. Messed it up and it was a big heavy cheesy mess. It probably would have killed me…

Awesome, congrats Sabine! Your consistent work is a real model to follow. *cheers!*

Today marks one year of eating Low Carb High Fat without cheats or binges! My highest carb day was 88g total on Christmas Eve. That didn't seem to impact my progress, as I was at my lowest weight of the past year on December 30th. Since then I've steadily crept up five pounds and I'm back to wearing pants that had been in…

I was thinking of trying something like this: http://ohsohalal.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=215 But really before I started looking I was going to buy standard henna at whole foods or something, and just mask off my nails and stain them weekly to reach a deep color.

This was supposed to be a warm week but it was frigid! I want to spend some time outside but every time I go out, it's just, "Never mind!" Tomorrow it's supposed to be around 50º, which would be lovely. I am going to a writing workshop in the morning that's 45 minutes away, and then three hours later a write-in ten minutes…

Cortisol and insulin are related hormones. Take a nice hot bath and let some of that stress melt away!

That IS a problem with this diet. You get guff Monday through Friday about how much bacon you consume, but then you go to a party and your fatty dish that you bring for yourself not only fits in among the party foods, but everyone eats your stuff first! And if you're like me, the ingredients are not only LCHF, but organic…

I like the oven because I can fit more bacon on a cookie sheet than I can fit in a fry pan. I tend to make 10-20 pieces at a time for recipes or just to have around (and don't throw out the fat! I save it for frying non-bacon things!)
