So unprofessional to come in over weight, and unfortunately a lot of promotions don’t care. They just want the ticket sales.

Mid-week (or at least mid-work week) gentlemen. Let’s crush the second half of the week. 💪

Back at it and don’t beat yourself up over it. I made some less than stellar choices on a weekend road trip, but I am letting it go and have been back on it.

Had a long weekend that included a road trip, was pretty good except for the travel days. 😳. Back on it this week. Not beating myself up over it just moving on. My biggest problem is less than stellar willpower when I don’t have a competition or fight on the horizon. Working on getting better at that.

Life is movement, movement is life - one thing I have learned on this journey. I really see a split in my peer group at mid 40s - there is a marked difference between the sedentary group and the active. It seems in my perception that 40s is where people kind of decide the path they are going to take for the second half of…

Thanks so much! I really think this is the best group in the MFP Community!

One of the most remarkable things I have eaten in awhile. To me they absolutely taste like cotton candy - the kids love them.

I’m a 43 year old Dad of two - age 4 and 6. I’ve lost 95 lbs starting at age 38 and now am in the best overall shape of my life. I am 5’10 and walk between 180 and 185. I have been in maintenance for the last 3.5 years except when I cut weight for competitions or fights. Feel free to add me as a friend.

Thanks!

I haven't checked in since this post. I had to get through fight week and then I have slacked a little this week, after the intensity of a fight camp and fight weekend. I won my MMA debut last weekend at age 43. First round was down right ugly in the beginning. I got my mind right after some clinch work and hard knees to…

Some family out of state ordered the PPV which we are still able to access. I am trying to find away to record it and transfer it over to a usable format. I have some video various friends took, but it is so far away it’s hard to see what is happening especially in the second round when I got the takedown.

Head hurts quite a bit. He landed some bombs - he was a much better striker, but I have been on Cloud 9. It's something else, I can't put into words. After the birth of my children it was one of the highlights of my life - more than any professional, educational, or financial victory. I learned a lot about myself.

This. Motivation only gets you so far. You have to build habits.

Arkansas by way of some different states. Born and raised in Maryland, though.

Sounds like good work to me and in a "safe" way (1-1.5lbs a week). Kudos to you! Keep it it up!

Sounds killer! My kicking is garbage because of my old man lack of flexibility and my general crappy striking coordination. I use Teeps to maintain distance and low kicks to set up takedowns. I am never gonna knock anyone out with a leg kick and ever getting a good liver kick chances are close to zero as well.

You will get it! We have a saying in BJJ - it's not who is best, it is who is left. Keep doing your thing!

Awesome! I'm going to see if the doc can fit me in for some tomorrow. Thanks!

When I get summer colds they are usually bad. A lot worse then winter. Summer colds 3-4 days off knocked on my butt with severe congestion and terrible post-nasal drip. I have had symptoms on and off since I posted on a Friday, but it has not increased in severity. It's weird. Maybe I am ok. I am thinking my immune system…

My wife twice has said "I like you better fat." She is has struggled with her weight most of her life. She recently started back losing again. I never pressured, said not nice things, or actually mentioned her weight ever except those times when she has lost and then it was compliments. I know she is very insecure about…

I'm a fan uphill wind sprints. When I was training for a competition last year someone introduced me to them and I definitely felt a marked difference in my cardio.

You are already the most interesting person I have met in months.

Thanks! As long as I don't embarrass my Coach or gym and avoid a trip to the hospital I will consider it a victory whether or not I win or lose.

A week from now I maybè wishing I was dancing at the Blue Oyster. 43 years old and making my MMA debut...what was I thinking?
-
Same here. Lost 95 lbs and went from hot all the time to freezing. One Positive is I tolerate our high 90s high humidity summers a heck of a lot better.

Give it a shot and listen to your body. When I started my lifestyle change at age 37, I planned 3-4 days max. Even though I was obese, (270 lbs on a 5'10" frame) I found I could tolerate 5-6 days of pretty intense excercise. I'm 43 (and 95lbs lighter) now and train 7-10x a week (two-a-days some days) with an active rest…

Find a physical activity you love. I loathe traditional gyms - bore me to death. Hence I had an on-again off-again with them in my 30s. Went to a non-traditional gym and love it. I train my butt off because other than spend time with the kids, it's all I want to do. It doesn't feel like a "workout" because it is not - I…

I don’t understand why I am getting wooed. Stanford did a study and even the most accurate of fitness trackers were off by 27%. There is nothing commercially available that is going to give you an accurate count so when I eat back I am going to generally stay on the conservative side. Same with a TDEE calculator. No TDEE…

This morning I Hit my goal for my weight cut! I need to maintain for 6 days until I take off 2.5lbs of water. Then one week from today I climb into the cage for the first (and probably only) time. 😳
