  • SO PROUD OF YOU, JOHN! You truly are an inspiration to me & others!
  • Great shapely legs! Don't be so critical of yourself! Shapely over sticks anyday!
  • WOW! Thanks for all your responses! PI know ppl *kitten* on here a lot about stuff, but I have always gotten such helpful responses from I guess the nicest folks on the board! I especially appreciate the compliments & encouragement in addition to the information! Thank you ALL so much!
  • I took a peek at your diary. It seems your sodium is on high side & that can make you maintain fluid depending on your age & health status. You might want to try cutting the salty stuff & drink more water or non-calorie drinks & see if that helps.
  • I'm gonna try as I am craving something RIGHT NOW (9pm) and too early to go to bed. Errrgh!
  • WOW! You've done a lot of work...no doubt you will accomplish your goal! I am also 5'9, but got that big boned German/Irish frame. At my smallest I was a medium, but that was at 150. Below that I looked sickly. But you look like you have a smaller frame. Good luck! I'm sure you'll stun in that dress soon!
  • WOW John! You are really an inspiration! I had over 150 pounds to lose...I have lost almost 40 with the help of MFP & following my dieticians recommendations. I, too, learned that eating protein is the way to go...the smoothies really are not helpful like I thought they would be! In fact, I avoid liquid calories like the…
  • What was your motivation for joining MFP? Improved health, weight loss, etc.? What have been your downfalls? What kind of motivation are you looking for?
  • Great job! I need to follow your progress. I started w/MFP a few months ago and have lost 36 pounds to date. I am a 'heavyweight' with over 100 more pounds to lose. I am going to do it! I also felt like crap. I began to have mobility issues. One of the final reasons for me deciding it was time to change was having to get…
  • I don't have a food scale yet so I use measuring cups. ..I am no good with estimating weight... :( Yes, I also had the rice, but I have no problem with getting such a wide range of calories with the rice... I know the sodium and sugar content are high...and I hope 500 calories are accurate give or take 100. I planned for…
  • thank you for all the feedback. I have been on different sides of the 'healthy eating' definitions which leads to my confusion! I had very early stage cancer, went the plant based route & was told sugar in any form was basically the devil leading to fertile ground for cancer to grow. However, I could not maintain with no…
  • Hi Bobbifowler! I am fairly new to all of this too with over 100 pounds to lose. I am in my 50's yet never grasped the basics of nutrition! What I did was follow suggestions to eat protein at every meal and for a snack if possible. the eat vegtables, and then a carb. I followed this method best I could and recorded them…

  • I HAVE to watch my sodium due to health issues. I was shocked, too, by how much sodium I was eating, and that was AFTER I started this, stopped eating fast food, fried food, and salty snacks. I can barely stay under my 2300 g allowance daily and often go over. It is frustrating. However, one of the things I have learned is…
  • I absolutely love swimming and we have a backyard pool. However, even being that lucky there are some barriers to overcome. First, the Northeast weather! We can only use the pool about 3 months/year. Second, it IS time consuming to get changed, get in pool & do your thing, get out, change & do your hair & make-up AGAIN,…
  • Hi! Agree w/above poster...you BOTH look very pretty! I am much older than you (late 50's), have a heart condition where my heart races and need to lose about 100 pounds. I am going to have surgery in September. I have been told to just walk. This past winter I became very immobile due to a 25 pound weight gain in three…
  • In addition to needing more info to help...my nutritionist said that the number of calories are sometimes secondary to weight loss. She pointed out that if you you eat all high carb junk, but stay under 2000 calories a day it really is not going to help you in the long run.
  • Thanks gaelowyn...I have googled some salad dressing recipes & plan on trying them out. If I have learned one thing using the tracker it is about all the crap already in food when you buy it! I made spaghetti recently after avoiding it due to the pasta (a trigger for me!), and when I went to log it in I could not believe…
  • Thanks adamiti. I plan on making my own spaghetti sauce & salsa this Fall after my garden is done. Meanwhile, I was looking for something to tide me over. I never thought about trying to make my own dressing (duh!), but I think I will google that. thanks again.
  • Hi Epix! sounds like we both had a similar experience. I had gained 25 lbs. in 3 mos. from my meds & the xtreme fatigue it caused. I got on the scale at the doctor's this past February & I was my highest weight ever...350!!! I started making changes to my diet & walking & have lost almost 30 pounds since then. 10 pounds a…
