Taking it slow and steady. I'm eating 1700 calories a day, which is enough to be able to still enjoy sweets/treats and not feel deprived. I've lost 57 lbs in a bit over a year. In times past, I'd exercise like crazy and restrict to 1200 calories. Never lasted more than a couple months. This time, these are changes I can…

Regardless of the accuracy of the exercise database, mentally it is sometimes easier to believe the exercise estimate is off rather than the food logging.

How long is your regular doctor on maternity leave? Waiting an extra month or three can be frustrating, but auditioning new doctors doesn't sound much better. And in the end, it might take several months to find a doctor you like and get a referral to a specialist. I personally would use the new guy if I absolutely needed…

Be careful with iron supplements. It is possible to get too much. Also, you wrote that you are falling asleep on the couch. Maybe you would feel better with a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed. But do agree with everyone to get thyroid and iron levels checked.

I tend to be an emotional eater - and I was sooooo tempted to stuff my face with chocolate from the extra calories I "earned", but I resisted. It'd be nice though, the more stressed you are, the more you can eat your cares away.

The rest of my post got deleted. I was shocked and it just hit me really hard how far I've come. I was prancing and preening all over the changing room. Most days I look in the mirror and don't see any changes. I'd love to hear other stories of when people had moments of realization that they've actually lost weight.

Just an update on this. I waited one extra week to give my plateau a full month before making any changes. I'm glad I did. My "whoosh" came and I lost 3 lbs that week. What started out as a vent is now a reminder that it really is about patience and consistency.

Yes, I imagine spanx is cheaper than skin removal surgery.

I have lost 50 lbs eating a chocolate bar every day.

I've lost 50 lbs and I just don't see it. I'm wearing 3 sizes smaller, I've lost inches, random people at work I see only on occasion are commenting on it. But I just don't see it. I think I was a bit in denial on how big I was. I'm probably now about the size I've always believed myself to be. Part of the reason I started…

Just because people are not calling you a skeleton and not guessing you wear a size 000 and weigh less than 100 lbs does not mean they are criticizing you. Whatever weight they are guessing, it may be because they consider that to be healthy/attractive. Thinner does not always equal better.

I was there last November. It was before I started counting calories - but I managed to lose a couple pounds anyway from all the walking. I think I remember reading somewhere that the average person walks 6-10 miles a day while there. I would recommend that you try to make reasonable food choices, and realize you have a…

I am female, 5'4", late 30's, and not quite ready to put my weight on the internet. But I will say I am in the lower range of the obese category by BMI.

Definitely could see the need to sleep a bit more after a long run. I average about 200 g of carbs and 65 g of protein a day. I've been mostly focused on staying under my calorie goal without too much emphasis on my macros, but I admit I might need to reconsider that.

I want to maintain the muscle I have as I continue to lose weight. Although I don't expect to gain a lot of muscle while in a calorie deficit - I want fewer reps/heavier loads. So Friday and Sunday it is then . Thanks for the advice!
